Recommended Rest Time?
Kaz's idea should work perfectly fine, and like kaz said, early signs of scaly face, which can be treated with a treatment from a pet shop or a vet

5 Eggs
well i was going by my experience so far lol, all my show's have layed large clutchs where my pet types have layed small clutchs of around 5

Hoss
Gold ring hmmm....it looks very old could be 2000

5 Eggs
Kaz is right, depends on the size and the type, for example if your hen is a english show budgie which are the larger types, they can lay anywhere to 12 eggs, (mine had 9) where as the australian budgies which lack the size compared to the show budgies only have little amounts which can be anywhere from 3-6

We Just Asked Permission For A Second Budgie!
i cant see a real estate saying no to a budgie, if they do, then they are stuck up! i rent a house to and the owner said no full on pets, and yet i got 1 dog, cat, 2 bearded dragons, 4 fish, 22 budgies, 6 cockatiels, 4 grassparrots, 4 quail, 1 rainow lorikeet(extremely noise) and 1 galah who is just as noisy so im taking a risk  :hap:

How Would You...
That's what I meant... My breeding cages.......I converted them to take nestboxes by turning the fronts around. Tied one door with cable tie, left the other to drop down and allow nestbox access This photo show the spare doors with pegs but shortly after this I used cable ties to secure those doors. Some of those cages werent converted at the time this picture was taken. Nice set up kaz, i learnt my lesson with peg's, one of my budgies flew away when they were in cabinets, they power lift the door and the peg go's with it, theirfore the peg holds the door in place while they escape out the little entrance

New Baby's!
i have 4 breeding cabinets, that i can keep 4 pairs of budgies in till they come out of breeding condition. problem is they have to stay in the wooden shed, and theirs a problem with mice in their, so i cannot keep them in their. ill just wait till theirs no eggs in box's and take them out....its just a very big problem with colony breeding, every single pair is mating like their is no tomorrow, and they will want a nest to lay the eggs, will they still lay the egg if its due to pass out of her? without a nestbox

Banshee My Rainbow Lorikeet
aww he's georgeous, i have had my RL for 2 years now, his name is jack and he tends to swear quite a lot haha as for the sexing, you need to have them DNA tested to see, but during mating season you can easily tell, as the female stretch's its neck almost parralel to the perch and bobs up and down to impress the male

New Baby's!
Well thats a definite idea, will the hen's still look after their chicks in the box even when theirs half of them missing? cause i was thinking about doing that cause 3/4 of my hens that have layed are the normal AUS budgie's, so they will only have nests of around 4-5 eggs, so what ill do is, ill take the whole albino nest out when their ready, and half of the cobalts, and sky blue opaline's nest out...so then its halved with each nest except for the albino nest any idea's on how to take the nestboxes out to prevent more hens from laying, cause its 1 week from winter and i do not want them breeding until september/october

New Baby's!
UPDATE! love is in the air in my aviary once more, still the 1 baby chick in the box (been 4 days now) and yesterday morning i looked in the box next to her's, and my albino hen has layed 2 eggs, and then i had a look at the other nestbox opposite it, and my other sky blue opaline hen which looks exactly the same as the hen who has the chick, has also got a egg in her box, and then this morning i looked in the other box next to the opaline hen and my type 2 yellowface cobalt hen has started laying again (was unsuccessful a few weeks ago, layed 2 then she let them go cold and eventually abandoned them for the other hen to take over the box) so im having second thoughts on handrearing at the moment cause if i do, then ill have around 30 budgies in my handrearing cage

Sane Or Insane Male (or Female)?
the opaline hen is 100% hen, as for the recessive pied, he's definitly a male, i have a grey single factor dominant pied cock who had the exact same cere coloration as the recessive pied you have, and he turned out to be a strong blue cere, so its a male

Young Budgie, Better Pics Now?
Looks like a female to me, i can see a blue glow and a whitish glow patch on the top of her cere, so i'd say 99% it's a female

Omelette's Babies
I am hoping to be able to foster some babies out later on. Her daughters eggs were candled and I threw out 4 I think. First egg due to hatch any day now. Well done kaz! what are you going to do with the baby's once they are weaned, fledged and taking care of themselves?
-
Congratulations To......
ahah a good quote indeed, congrats!

Omelette's Babies
They sure are growing fast mine looks like the one on the left hand side, with the yellowish belly, so mine is okay then and my hen has stuck with 9 egg's total just hope the hatchings arent too far apart, as im gonna handrear them for the enjoyment and i dont really want the chicks too far apart from first hatchling to last, although 3 of them i think are infertile
-
Omelette's Babies
Fantastic kaz, my 2nd is due tomorrow or late this afternoon, although he has like a yellowish belly that looks like it has a drop of some liquid in it any idea's what it could be?? he's been alive for about 24 hours now so hes doing okay so far

Sand Flooring In Outdoor Aviary
my aviary is made out of heavy 4 inch C section galvanized steel, so i am able to keep it on the grass floor (natural ground) rather then concrete without having a scare of the wind blowing it away as for sand, i have used it before, my quails had a bath in it and plucked every single one of their feathers off due to severe itching and irritation.

What Do I Get
i need a clearer picture, cannot see properly in the picture

Omelette's Babies
its always a shame when a chick die's, to think he had a chance at life just to have it thrown away like that, almost brings a tear to your eye when they die, i remember when i was a young little fella, around 8years old, had my skyblue dominant pied cockbird for about 6 years, and of all things it was my birthday and i took the cover off his cage and he was dead stiff leg's up on the bottom of the cage, i cryed all day and never got over it till a few months later...horrible experience, its gonna be heart crushing when my galah and rainbow lorikeet (tame inside birds) die in the future...

What is She ?
i spotted my albino and grey dominant pied cock mating this morning, and just as i looked her tail it had a very distinct aqua glaze to it, could only just see the glow of the aqua, so any idea's as to what splits she could have?

Omelette's Babies
Aww the baby's look fabulous, any guesses to what color they could be? as for the daughter's eggs, it may just be me but some of them have the pinkish glow to them, how many nests in total of yours have got egg's/babys?
