  2. how did you know the 9 egg's were fertile? i wanna candle them but i dont wanna touch nor disturb the hen into getting out of the box so i can candle them....any suggestions?
  3. Oh....Well that *******! pet shop owner told me it works either way with hardboiled egg, see, another one of many reason's not to trust pet shop owners....all about $$$ and the brain of a twit... im only young so im not familar as you guys are so im still learning
  4. Oh wow, they are fantastic Kaz, they must all be a handful you ever considered handrearing all of them? ill be handrearing all my babie's, simply the fact that i would rather them be tame and go to a loving home that will spend time with him and treat him very well, where as i wouldnt really want them to be radical aviary bred bird's that will be treated like poo cause they are scared of people...
  5. well, ive been using cuttlebone Hardboiled Egg and such...just wondering if their was any other's that i should be notified on calcivet is the stuff you put into the bird's water isnt it??
  6. Well, i wouldnt take my birds for a 6-8 hour drive but it would definitly be worth a visit for sure
  7. Awww, thats so sad and unfortunate, how did it happen?
  8. LOL! it fit's her nature very well Kaz
  9. I was wondering, seeing that my budgie's are in the prime of laying their eggs, What are some good examples of soft food calcium supplements?... All info is much appreciated Thanks
  10. How is taking a bird to the vet not worth a visit?..
  11. Ooo Excellent Point Kaz, lack of flight feathering causing him to flap and fly harder theirfore making him more exhausted alot easier and quicker...
  12. Indeed, it all depend's on the Gene's, i have a little blue opaline hen who is tiny, and she has produced fantastic looking chicks...so it's really all gene's
  13. had to take him to the vet to have them take them all out of his paw...and ever since then, he has stayed well away from it
  14. Ohhh they look nice! love cactus's, my cat tryed to play with one once, ended up Wacking its arm around like an idiot trying get the spikes out of his his paw hahaha
  15. would u YOU be able to supply a picture of him mate?...that will give us a much better estimation as to what might be wrong
  16. that opalines fringe looked bloody! painful...poor little guy, its harder for the larger show budgies, as they moult near twice as much feathers as a regular size budgie
  17. The panting is a definite problem, get him to the vet for a check-up... as for the feather loss, quite possible parasites are doing it....
  18. Indeed, to cut off a budgie's foot with scissor's is absolutely careless and inhumane as sailor said,
  19. Liv is right, if your gonna buy a good pair of budgie's, get them from a breeder, cause then you know they are good quality and have proof they have bred before and they may even have youngen's of that pair so u know what u might get, DONT BUY fromt pet shops
  20. love those lutino princess parrots, worth a fair bit of money right their
  21. Yes that is true, both of the males of each pair are very dominant and never let other males go near the hen's, so it should be accurate enough with the genes, Will be very interested in finding out what chicks you get... I once knew a man who was very dominant... his wife had a kid that looked like his best mate :hap: if it happens in humans good chance it could happen in budgies... Rofl, well hopefully the chicks dont turn out like that hahah, well my type2 yellowface cobalt hen has had her 2nd egg today, and my double factor spangle(green series) is the father, so they should throw some nice youngens, hopefully some yellowface's
  22. I am not too sure mate, a picture of the pair would be very helpful, so we can spot hidden mutation's and such....would it be possible?
  23. Ooo they are very nice!!
  24. Hi John, Welcome to the forum Mate, Look forward to seeing some picture's. Your Aviary's are very big, Which is Great, You should stock up on more budgie's again if your settled into Acre'd land... If you need any help, dont hesitate to ask someone :hap:
