  1. Yup, looks like normal sky blue to me, the tail pattern of the oldest budgie is very dazzling, he/she will be a nice specimen after 1 or 2 moults
  2. With the new flights going in, I have decided to do a baby flight as well as the two main long flights. Baby flight will be 1 m wide by 4 metres by 2.4m high. Two main flights will be around 5.6m long by 2 m wide each ( two of ). Ooooo very nice!
  3. Ill take some pics tomorrow of their backs, for now do u got any rough guesses as to what mutation they are?
  4. okay, here are some picture's of my birds, ive got my pen and paper ready to write down what birds are which, and so on...theifore i dont get them mixed up, heres a few i am interested in knowing the mutation/color etc(Had to edit this post, all the picture's were messed up, Sorry) picture #1 picture #2 picture #3 picture #4 picture #5 picture #6
  5. Who ever owns that bird,$$$ sell it before mattdog changes her mind. You mean "His" Mind  u dont see many of those around here so its a very satisfying addition to any budgie flock... i can see a feint grey scaley pattern, not sure what that means but im sure someone will know
  6. Oh wow, what a beautiful specimen, thats the sort of bird im looking for to times are desperate now for lutino's and albino's in my area, so if that was for sale i would put $300 no problem on it...Lol im not experienced with mutation's and such but my gosh its a beautiful bird
  7. oh well thats good then, unlike poor kaz, she woulda been devastated over the loss's of all those budgie's she lost about a week ago.... glad it was only 1, but 1 is just as painful and heartbreaking as 10 :hap: thankfully i aint lost 1 yet :hap: and after reading the posts. im definitly alot more careful about my budgie's
  8. Very Very nice mate i love how your aviary is protected how it is
  9. do not worry, she is just coming into breeding condition, spend more time with her and offer her more treats and such as this can be a stressful time for a hen especially when they have nowhere to nest and such
  10. aww he's such a little stunner! he seem's extremely happy with his lifestyle, and so do you by the sound of it i bet he wouldnt mind another tame mate in his cage :hap: mirror will get preety lonely then :hap:
  11. Show type budgies are a quieter natured budgie than pet types as a rule :happy-dancing: But I also handle my babies daily from the point of hatching. well, out of the 22 i have, 30% of mine are show's, but the other 70% are mostly the basic size of the pet/australian budgie...so its harder to breed seeing the Oz budgie's are alot more frisky and such explains why the ones of mine that are laying are all show budgies
  12. I believe he is asking if only one bird escaped or more... Exactly lol
  13. aww did u (YOU) lose more then 1? MOD MESSAGE: Refrain from shortcuts
  14. Show type budgies are a quieter natured budgie than pet types as a rule :happy-dancing: But I also handle my babies daily from the point of hatching. Ahh, well that explains alot, i dont disturb my hens.... i checked today the opaline hen i have has got 8 egg's and 3 of them have the very distinct pink glow to it, so i guess i got 3 infertile ones, which is good really...i dont want her to have to raise 8 chicks 5 is plenty
  15. Aww their georgeous, how do u have them in such a quiet nature,
  16. :happy-dancing: that mask is hilarious!
  17. Very nice Pictures
  18. what color is the band?
  19. I myself (my opinion) do not believe in 1 male to multiple hen's, due to the fact that the male is not always their too look after his other mate's, and they will not properly be mated to the others, if its colony breeding it may be a different story, but if he's in the cage with the laying hen for 1 day then the other hen's are neglected, they will get frustrated with it....i would suggest 1 male per pair, and not the 1 male to the 3 hens...
  20. i dont know about you guys, but seeing im home alot, i always use dish's, never realy had the need for bottles,
  21. Ill get some calcivet some time today or tomorrow, and ill put into water, my last hen died without knowing the cause (no injurys) a few weeks back, she had a clutch of 8 so i think she may have been a first timer and was exhausted, and i really dont think her mate was looking after her properly....so im gonna try and get everything possible for the budgie's so i make sure they have no shortage of supply when it comes to calcium

;) That Cinnamon opaline grey hen is absolutely amazing! the spots on her forehead are a very unique addition, look forward to seeing baby pics!
  24. Then you are talking to the wrong half of the people explains why i dont talk to them at all 3/4 of my birds are from work (pet shop) cause i felt sorry for the poor things, 4 pairs which were paired up were in a cage per pair and were their for around 2-3 months, i eventually got sick of seeing it every morning so i gave the boss $15 each for them and gave them a chance, 2 of those pair's now have egg's, including my opaline hen who has 8 at the moment, and my type 2 yellow face opaline cobalt hen, father is a double factor spangle (green series) so im expecting some fantastic youngen's from them, although the cobalt hen is extremely small...and her 2nd egg has a bit of dried up blood on it, so im a bit worried as to maybe she is having troubles laying the eggs, i compared one of the blue opaline's(show budgie)'s egg's to the cobalt's egg, and the cobalt egg is VERY small in comparance
  25. I candled them with a flexible torch. Tap on the box so she gets out and put the torch into the nestbox and see what it shows WITHOUT touching the eggs. A matter of a few seconds...not much of a disturbance. Oh okay. with this light, what am i to look for in the egg? the oldest egg is about 10 days old
