    aww what a big boy
  2. Yes and No, it;s highly likely that you will get the same looking babies but there can be hidden gene that are produced the next time around which didn't late time.
  3. Yeah I know it wasn't you Elly I hope you didn't think i was picking on you! Cropping the ear happens as puppies just like the tails. I can't see how people can thing it's better for them to remove something that is natural! What a story I'm glad you have him, give him a hug from me. :ausb: I miss having a dog around the place. But I know it's better for my cat to be the only animal.

Hi Ainslie I hope you find tons of helpful info on here
  5. thanks for the pictures. love the YF2 opaline spangle girl!
  6. isn't Cabela cute! He would so much more stunning with the rest of his ears, *cough* unsuitable words *cough * humans! But doesn't Merlin look like a King.
  7. wow what a differance The cheek spots (white and blue and all blue) just simply from the pied gene and would have to be allowed in showed of pieds.
  8. Oh silly me, that would be if the male was spilt Ino or clearbody to get those results. Sorry the through the mix made me miss a step. With the clearbody white base (male not spilt) you would get a mix of blues and violets. and yellow base: like the lutino greens and green-violet. With pied to get a dominant pied one of the parents need to be one, to get recessive, both parents need to have the gene, either split or showing.
  9. They look so great together. I too love the secret picture. :yellowhead:
  10. some hens will get the brown like that with their first moult. (most of mine do) The breeder would know better than me, it possible is breeding lines are producing heavy marks, or even a gene like the black face. He doesn't seem to think it's important or special or he would be keeping them all close to monitor.
  11. violet is alway hard to get right in pictures. To get true violets (visual violets) you need cobalt (one dark factor) and the violet gene. With the mauve hen there is a change to get visual violets out of the mix. Lutino would give you green-violets which look like an olive bird. (unless he is split for ino or the hen split blue) Texas Clearbodies- if white based: you get a very pale violet hue to the body, if yellow based: I'm not sure might show more green in the body feathers.
  12. Mine lay a few eggs after I remove the box with out trouble, just keep an eye on her like you are, any problem signs take action.
  13. I would be worried about more than just the wrong feather being removed!

they all look great, I like your mauve hen (2nd one) and your pied (have one like him) I would say the first is a cobalt not violet.
  15. did you cut or pull Aly? It looks like you did well (not that I have an eye for that or anything ) Isn't the idea is to get then looking like this: That is natural for him I didn't do any work. But don't you want the even line of 6 spots. (in the second shot the spots are still growing in under the cheek spot)
  16. thank for that. After seeing them I think she is just heavily marked around the head. She seems to be having her first moult since there are still some markings close to the cere so I would put her age at 3-4 months.

  22. Hugs Lovey you and Merlin are doing great. Thank you for sharing.
  23. Is the head clear or the markings just faint? I would enter him anyway to see how he goes. Perfect name too.
  24. Sorry shawna I only know the look of plucking from pictures of others that have been plucked. I haven't had to deal with this and can't quite recall what others did. either of your other nests have bubs in at the moment so I wouldn't think moving them would be safe. It might just been the fluff is plucked and when the pin feathers come in they are left. I hope another answers soon.
