okay it's final I'm coming over there to steal HIM!
  3. have you named them yet or waiting until they have fledged?
  4. I would think Olive too with that picture. Elly Olive isn't as drab looking as grey green. let me find the colour guide again. okay this is from the World Budgerigar Organisation. http://www.world-budgerigar.org/ The top line is the dark green the bottom Olive.
  5. It looks simply wonderful! Great job.
  6. make sure there is enough feeding spots (one for each and maybe a spare one too) and toys.
  7. He looks nice. I can't see the flight but I would wonder with the clearflight idea. But what is worrying me is that it seems you have not quarantined!! New bird should be keep away from your flock for at least a month to check that the bird is not sick or carrying a disease that can spread to the rest of the flock. Even ones that look healthy can become ill due to the stress of the move.
  8. Ino (albino and Lutino) hens are the same as all the other colours. It is only the males that are different, the male keep the baby smooth bright pink cere all their life rather than getting the grown up dark blue cere.
  9. Ditto Bea what a stunning picture
  10. I was wondering with Kiky if she was a dark green, it's a bit hard to tell with the flash shining off the feathers.

Woot! Glad to hear it. I think she is going to do wonderful in a show
  12. As Elly said if the bird is not normal (like Fiby) then you don't need to add it into the description. Kiky - green recessive pied hen Fiby - normal sky blue hen Emjay - cobalt dominant pied cock (I think DF is possible as well) Chico - green recessive pied cock Cherry - yellowface type 2 cinnamon oplaline hen

Are you sure this was the reason? If they were new birds they could have had an illness and the stress of the move weakened them too far. But the newpaper I said is fine as I know many here have and do use it. Myself I use nothing on the bottom of my cages (when in use) Even is I need to use a bit more elbow grease when cleaning I find the white trays easier to see change in the poop.

Hi Clare What to use in the bottom of his cage? Shell grit? Newspaper? Sand? Newspaper is fine and easy to clean When we first brought him home, he sat in his cage, opening and closing his beak. He wasn't clicking it, just silently opening and closing. Is this normal? He seems fine now, chirping away and attacking his honey seed stick. I was just wondering. Just sounds like he as a bit stressed from the move and the new environment, which is very normal. Exactly how big should his cage be? I'm bad at remembering the size a cage should be, add a picture of it here and folks can tell ya. It is better to be wide rather than tall. Is there an ideal place to put the cage? Near a window maybe? What about putting him outside? if you want him as part of the family (not sure if he is a only bird) then somewhere close to where your family spends most of the time then he can get use to you and later spend time around your guys while out, many put them near the window Welcome to the site and I hope you enjoy your time here.

  20. Aww Karen they look so cute. Lucky you to have rare twin budgies (or budglets as ALy said )
  21. Neat I'm sorry to hear this, from the other thread none of us thought it would be this bad Hugs to you. That's the way to think
  22. nice birds. I want the first two males and the sky blue one (picture 4)
  23. usually they would have done a cycle in 3-6 months. However all birds are different. I have a hen that I got as a male (>_<) and she stayed with the pale blue cere for over 8 months while one other hen went out and back in and the other hens all stayed in condition. Boy hope that is understandable Is there a chance of a piccie of this ones cere?

If there is an issue with their health still it's best to take the box out (or move them) if they have had a clean bill of health and you know they are old enough I don't see why they can't continue. I know you have been reading heaps since joining here.
  25. Right now that you have done a some thinking here is my outcome list. Pair 1 - GF skyblue spangle hen x Mauve Spangle Cock 12.5% Goldenface DF spangles 12.5% DF spangles 25% Goldenface spangles 25% Cobalt Spangles 12.5% Goldenface normals 12.5% Cobalt normals I'm basing this on the hen having no factors but it's possible for her to have 1 which mean mauves are also possible. Pair 2 - GF cobalt opaline hen x Grey normal cock 12.5% Goldenface normals hens 12.5% Goldenface grey normal hens 12.5% Grey normal hens 12.5% Cobalt normal hens 12.5% Goldenface normals/Opaline cocks 12.5% Goldenface grey normal/Opaline cocks 12.5% Grey normal/Opaline cocks 12.5% Cobalt normal/Opaline cocks Pair 3 - Violet spangle hen x Dk green Greywing cock (are we sure is violet? also she isn't opaline as well?) 25% Violet green spangles/ Greywing/blue 25% Green spangles/ Greywing/blue 25% Violet green normals/ Greywing/blue 25% Green normals/ Greywing/blue She looks like a cobalt to me in the picture but could be from the flash, if she is then there is a chance for Dark green and Olives. If she is Opaline as well the cocks will be split for it. Pair 4 - Dk green normal hen x Skyblue opaline cock 25% Dark green Opaline Hens/ blue 25% Light Green Opaline Hens/blue 25% Dark green Normal cocks/ opaline/ blue 25% Light green Normal cocks/ Opaline/ blue Pair 5 - GF cobalt opaline hen x Skyblue spangle cock 6.25% GF cobalt normal hens 6.25% GF sky blue normal hens 6.25% cobalt normal hens 6.25% sky blue normal hens 6.25% GF cobalt spangle hens 6.25% GF sky blue spangle hens 6.25% cobalt spangle hens 6.25% sky blue spangle hens 6.25% GF cobalt normal cocks/ Opaline 6.25% GF sky blue normal cocks/ Opaline 6.25% cobalt normal cocks/ Opaline 6.25% sky blue normal cocks/ Opaline 6.25% GF cobalt spangle cocks/ Opaline 6.25% GF sky blue spangle cocks/ Opaline 6.25% cobalt spangle cocks/ Opaline 6.25% sky blue spangle cocks/ Opaline Pair 6 - GF cobalt hen X Skyblue cock 25% GF cobalt normal 25% GF Skyblue normal 25% Cobalt normal 25% Skyblue normals Pair 7 - Exhibition Budgies - Albino hen x Skyblue/ino cock 25% Albino hens 25% Normal hens 25% Albino cocks 25% Normal/split Albino cock With the normal they could be cobalt or sky blues depending on the dark factor the hen carries. wow that was fun! I haven't sat and planning out pairing outcomes for a while. Looks like pair 5 might give you some interesting mixes.
