What Colors Do You Think The Babies Will Be?
What stunning pictures, thank you for showing us how they turned out. Your dad may look like a green bird but in fact is a blue bird. The two babies with yellow will end up looking like him. Are you keeping them all?

Question About Eggs...
well... If all is good and well in the hen you're right. A whole clutch of eggs can be fertilized in one mating. The hen has 'tunnels' that can store sperm until the next egg is ready to be made. However these can become blocked which means at one mating only one egg is fertilized. Budgie will mate daily anyway.

Penny And Big Boy
Yes Elly I was meaning Melanistic Spangle I was lazy before in typing it all out. From the Sister Daz brought I got two of the offsprings (from eggs ) Minka and Czar. Big Boy is a Cinnamon Clearflight Dominant Pied Violet + Melanistic Spangle That spangle in the offspring proves he has the spangle gene (if I remember Grayson being a grey normal correctly) Big Boy' dad does seem to have spangle markings BUT the flights and tail do not match. Big Boy's mum has an iris ring and so not DEC but would have to be DF spangle.

What Mutation Is This Bird?
Well done Feathers. I had two mutations in mind that the picture matched. Black eyed self and a dilute yellow. I've only seen one other picture of a BES so I wasn't sure.

Marking Eggs
2B would be a good pencil to use, you want a soft one but not one that is too soft to be smudged. I wouldn't use HB and maybe not even 2H. These are the harder pencils (which means you have to press harder to get it to show up) That said I use a non-toxic water based pen. I found a pack of ten or maybe 12 in woolis (shop here in aus) for under a $1. Although it was on a special.

I've Gone Blue Too
very nice I want your mauve cock bird.

Have You Ever Heard Of These Mutations?
Isnt a brownwing like a cinnamonwing? - Yes it looks like a cinnamon but the brownwing gene is recessive while the cinnamon is sex linked. I think it was discovered that Karen had a Brownwing. And whats a half-sider? Feathers gave a great example of a half sider. frosted? This is a new pied that is showing up. It think it is linked or looks like a recessive pied.

Color Of Babies
HeHee sometimes genetic talk can get a bit in depth. Elly and Macka it seems you to are confusing each other and basically stating the same thing in different words.

Guess The Bird
:hap: too easy Cheeta your turn.

Have You Ever Heard Of These Mutations?
non sex-linked ino - Yep a very rarely talked about gene. It act like any recessive gene and looks like inos. australian clearwing - just another name for clearwings, the English have actually lost the clearwing gene. polydactylil - lost me there pearly - seems it's an ino gene, I believe there is a name like this for a teil gene they many be using this in place of another name pallid - not ringing a bell either, seems to be just another name for the ino gene.

Won't Take Nesting Material
The hens normally don't worry about it, Just remember to wash your hand before touching the egg, and try not to handle it too often. And welcome to the site :hap:

Too Much Green In The Aviary

Penny And Big Boy
blues and grays, dominant pieds (if that is the edge of a spot I see) also if Big boy is part of the 'odd' spangle family then spangles as well

Light Green Normal-dark Eyes?
at 5 months there is still time for a ring to appear, some birds don't show one until after the age of 1. The chart states is age in 2003. Can you post a picture of him now? There is only a small amount of rec. pied used in his history. edit -Kaz and I posted at the same time.

Have You Ever Heard Of These Mutations?
okay With those answers it seem to me you are simply mixing up the name of these mutations. White-eyed lacewing you have put the true title in your answer : White Red Eyed Lacewing - this is simply a lacewing in the blue line. Yellow Red Eyed Lacewing - is a lacewing in the green line Black-Eyed Clear - is a Norm said either another name or mixed up name for a DEC (Dark Eyed Clear) which is as you said a combination of Continental Clearflight (dutch) and Danish (rec.) Pied. Black eyed Clear is also used for a Double Factor Spangle. Seafoam - I do not believe that you need a greywing or clearwing gene for a seafoam look. As you stated "Just a word to describe a color" Darkwing - It enhances the foreground markings, it is best to see with the dilute gene making the grey markings stronger. The idea is to get very strong wing markings with almost no body colour (left with yellow or blue)

Pulling Feathers For Clear Spots
I don't know everything about this but it doesn't hurt a bird, it's like you pulling out hairs with tweezers, if pulled in the same direction of growth it doesn't hurt. I believe any bird/mutation gets this done. And a bird entered with out the dressed spots get marked down for poor feather marks.

Guess The Bird
okay I think this has been played before. But it is fun. One person posts a picture of a bird and you have to guess the name. The person who guesses correctly get to put up the next picture. You can use your own pictures or ones found on the internet, but do not hotlink pictures. Upload them to your your photobucket account and remember to keep them in side the board size rules. lets begin:
- Mammoth

Color Of Babies
Yes that calculator does take a rocket scientists to work out I believe you only forgot to click the blue for the hen (or maybe both of them)
