New babies
wonderful shots lady- Yes Marine and Tootie have been set up for just over two weeks and nothing yet. But they are bonding
-
Who'd believe it
well I was happy to use either but with all the genetic terms in ym head I wish breeders 'all over the world' would use just the one term for the same thing
-
will they mate?
as all the above have said If you want the albino and the male to breed NOW then I would take them out into a breeding cage alone to raise the little family.
-
Who'd believe it
:(Laughing out loud): Just a bit Aussie Pet stores call them that and I what to sream every time I see it. Plus the fact they will have albinos and spangles and all other sort of patterns other than recessive pieds in the same cage for the same price.
-
Who'd believe it
wow that's a bit odd harlequin is another name for recessive pied, mostly used in australia, but I don't like it at all :

Okay the nest Box has been on for over a week
for a hen is is 3-4 years (most say three) and for a male it is 6 years. As to your first question since it's their first time you may have to wait for a month before they are happy to work out what it is all about.

New babies
Me too Congratulations on the two babies, only four to go

Breeding question
sounds good, I've never had a problem like that, But I would keep the family alone from the others and check them all over and treat.

What a day!
*stops rant before it starts* I know your trying to do the right thing and get him to a vet. And it's great that you have brought him inside. Make sure you keep him as warm as you can, if you have a bet light or something like that shine it down on his cage (even a bare bulb) so he can sit under it and get warm. Make sure your quiet around him and don't fuss or handle him, let him rest. If he has some diarrhoea already don't offer more greens (they are mostly water already) but if he like millet give him a bit of that to temp him to eat a bit. And keep trying with your ma. You might be able to call the vet and get info over the phone. I didn't think you could get antibiotics from a pet store !! Fingers are cross for you. As for the hen I wouldn't worry laying an egg is like giving birth for a human so it's sure to be hard on the muscles and such. When my hen was laying she became swollen and plucked her feathers out in that area.

:(Laughing out loud): Wonderful shot ther daz, makes me want to get them a hug too :glare:

Guess what?!
:glare: you just have to try and get a picture of that!
-
Guess what?!
:(Laughing out loud): Can just picture the two of them, "No you go out and see why they are making that noise" "I'm not going out there you will steal my side of the nest" "Well I'm not checking it out your the one that said you heard something"
-
Guess what?!
My poor freckle has an twisted flight feather, I'm sure it's cause Pie is trying to :glare: 'be friendly' with her all the time. I don't think they understand "not going to happen" and "reitred" I have my fingers cross for you Bea in getting more eggs soon, what are the other two doing?
-
Guess what?!
:(Laughing out loud): I'll take a Gherkin I know how you feel Bea it's not fun to be awoken like that :glare:

black faced budgies
Almost :glare: He is listed as grey blackface. He sure looks like a black one.

hi, i really need help with my question
sounds like she is using to add to her own calcium stores as she seems to think she needs it. If you only have to females (you sure?) then it would be pointless to add the box it will just drive her want to lay more eggs and if it is two hens then they can start to fight over the box. The stool does get larger when laying eggs. It's great that you are taking them/her to the vets. Let us know what s/he says

babies in the ceiling : sad ending
I'm sorry to hear about this sad news :dbb1: as to your comment about the Bourkes they are not the english type budgies they are a different breed of bird alltogether. Right now my brian is hiding the fact of where they come from. rescuing older budgies sounds like a great plan.

Worried about this baby
wow poor little one, and the vet you have sounds great with the keeping of pics over the weeks to check back over the weeks. Does this future booking mean you can keep him? I hope so he is so cute and keeping him is the only way you will ever be sure he is getting the right treatment for life. Karenfernvale - you breed with birds with a known beak trouble!! I myself wouldn't.

info on my budgies
All is going along well over here in my budgie mad house. Marine is teaching Tootie the joys of fresh fruit, they where both dugging into the carrot and lettuce mix I gave them today, the first time I've seen Tootie eat any!! Jangles on the other hand is stubben, he at least knows what a millet spray is all about now thanks to PIie digging into the fresh one i gave thent he day Jangles joined the big cage. He did try a nibble at some pear that I put to the side of the cage (not in the food/treat dish) but today just sat on the branch and watched as Freackle,Pie and Ringo dug into the yummy veggies. There havn't been any problems with the mixing, which i was so pleased about, the only small thing is Pie doesn't like Jangles on the same branch Freckle is on (even when on the others side of the cage) but for now Jangles (who is slightly bigger than Pie) runs away. And over the last few days that behaviour is calming down too. So that's the story. As to Marine and Tootie they are not the lest be interesting in the box yet, as they are still getting to know each other, but I did see Marine feed her today as well so things are moving along there too And when I check on them last time for lights out they are set up ready for sleep next to each other I will try to get some pics later. edit- bab I normally forget the n't not add it on :nest:
