It could have beent he mother eating the eggs, or the baby that you left in there or even the farther if you didn't see them being eaten then you can't really guess at which bird did the deed. I would suggest you remove the nest box and let them all have a rest for at lest 6 month but a year is better. Then if you want to try again have only the hen and cock in the cage together. If the hen is 3 now then next time should be her last time to breed, since over the age of four isn't good for a hen.
  7. I think what you are meaning is Half-siders. Can you give us a link to that website? Mellow- mine is something called enjoy your parakeets-budgies. It's really small only like 30 pages to it.

:grins: Yeah Aussie petshop nea me just sells the fronts too, I think that's the way I'm going to go too, then you can have it set up the way you want it to be. Baby colours: Blue Normals Yellowface2 Normals Blue spangles Yellowface2 spangles And possible unknown hidden genes.

Cool Daz, any more eggs yet? I think another is due today if my math is right I like the box I actually saw one in a pet shop the other day but didn't buy it, the silly builders had the nest up in the corner of the box (same area as yours but inside) where you couldn't get to it or even look inside

I add as the same as above me but might add when they stay 'warm' the mean WARM. Get a bed lamp and shine it into his cage as cose as you can, the temp would be great close to 35 c to 40 c. A sick bird needs the warmth so it can then but the effort of gett ing better not trying to stay warm. Did the vet check the exrment? Was it black when the vet saw him or has that changed? IF it's changed then 'at LEAST' you need to call them and tell them that. If you have millet then offer him that or a fave treat just to try and get him to eat something.

I think they are spangled Rainbow Have a close look at the feathers in the middle of the wings just above the fight ones. And if that is the case then you can have a Pied Spangle Rainbow Crystal is so cute

Freckle got named that after a few tested out names for about two weeks which i've forgotten now But she got that since she had a spot on the back of her head (which I now know is a pied spot) Pie got that the first time I saw him And after that I just had to get him so asked to buy him from my teacher (tafe) which she was happy to do There Kids got names to be a gobal theme becuase folks on this site helped me out so much while they were growing up Marine got his name for his lovely dark blue body pritty simply really. Ringo was named so becuase she had a ringo of yellow around her head where there should have been bars in a normal bird Connie is short of Continenal Lace Something that just came to me and I couldn't let go, even justed just leaving it at Lacey but it wasn't right. Bo Jangles was a play on Spangles with the wings and sometime he stands like he has bowed legs like a cowboy. Tootie Fruity- Not sure how I got the idea but once I had thought it, it suited her. One because from day one she had been singing out to the others and two she has the yellow of a banana and then green of a honeydew on her back and watermelon look on her wings. Boy am I going to have fun with the next round of names

  21. *Nerwen* replied to a post in a topic in Breeders Discussion
yes Spring is the best time to breed them. But if the weather is right then they will breed all year round if not stopped. Oh and with birds it's 'in breeding condition' not in heat like a dog :budgiedance:

It must be true for my fingers are stil crossed for you
  23. *Nerwen* replied to a post in a topic in Breeders Discussion
Have you added a box? because thats the major thing to start a hen into wanting to breed. There is the other side that not all budgies will like the one they are paired with. As to the young bird I would tame her them breed her later No harm in that and when the hen is use to your hand i'm sure it helps when you are wanting to check eggs or babies.

I'm backing off since I' confsing myself with that part I'm still stuck on how you got a spangle from those to birds. Unless one of your sky blues there got a look in Pass was the one that told me you can have a bird split for spangle and I trust him
  25. me too They will come I'm sure Hath do you know how the genes work is it recessive or dominant? sex-linked?
