Rainbow budgies
whitewing and clearwing are the same thing The whitewing is only used for blue birds and yellowwing for green birds. Clearwing can be used all over (which is why I think it should be the only term used) Thanks for the pics javi and for finding the mistake with the link I really wanted to see that violet one.

Why are budgies so blood thirsty?
I wonder can you corner off that area of the aviary with something really helpful with idea's there. Just so the other bird can't get so close to them.

egg food
I sure hope not!! That look really nice I'm going to make some now (once I find the oils) I in fact went out and found some egg bucuit mix for the little ones and they arn't that fussed on it. Typical. But they loved fresh egg so this will be great. Thanks MTR for the link.

moulting?
Also if the feathers are not fully formed before falling out again, that's not normal.
-
Vets
If you what is normal for a bird and it is your one and only you don't have to take it for a simple check up. Birds don't have vacs like cats and dogs. If you do have other birds then a check at the vet is a good idea to check for infection deseases. The bird can be acting fine and be a carrier and the move to a new place with the shock can make then fall to the illess which in turn can infect your whole flock. It great that you have looked around your area and found places you can take Nikko to if he gets hurt or becomes ill.

Mother with an injured leg
You need to move her as Lin has said, she can't raise babies with a bad foot budgies need to be in tip top shape to handle the care of babies. Since you don't know how long she was off the eggs you can be sure if they became to cold or not. Are there other nesting budgies? If so you can mark the eggs (water base and non toxic pen) and foster them out. You might be lucky. But you can't leave that hen in there it would be considered cruelty.

double factor Pieds

Bea I'm so sorry for you. maybe you should think about moving the breeding cages to another place if you can. I share your feelings with Razzo Freckle doesn't want to retire either

the nest in the ceilling (part 2)
looks good Is millet the only thing you are putting up there? Have you tryed and greens or even grated carrot? Adding a hard boiled egg with that is good to for a om feeding a baby. It's soft and easy for them to eat. Don't just think my bird has never touched fruit or vegges in her life so why try now. My hen wasn't fussed on them either but when she had her babies she was chomping it down when offered

Babies just born in the ceiling - help
Budge I think we should work on getting these little ones out of the roof and knowing they are getting the care they need now then worry about rehoming. I idea of a tissue box is good, if you can't get hold of a real one (she would chew the cardboard rather quickly if she got a hole into your roof in a day) But if she did take this shelter then you would at lest have a safe way to trainsport her and the babies out of the ceiling. I would rather move them all as so as possible simply becuase you can not keep an eye on them all where they are now. You need to know that the mother is feding, be able to see them if they are having a problem with movment or development. Maybe someone else will have the perfect way to move the, soon. As to the teil and male you need to seperate them. (once you get the hen and chicks down you will need to do this anyway) If he has not been feeding the hen then it might not be an idea to let him near her and the babies, he might not be interested in raising these one but starting all over again. One question do you know how many eggs there where? Could you reach the nest before? Can you now? okay so that was more an one

New babies

Marking
a water based pen is what i've hear as the safe thing to use. I'll be off looking for one of them later I want to mark my next clutch ;D (when ever that will be)
