  4. i collected some winter grass and wild wheat few days ago i also get them milk thistle and some flowers from my mothers candle tree its a native bush with big yellow red flowers they are long and birds love them al;so some grevilias you can give them a clump of fresh red clay dug from near a natural fire has been through thats great natural mineral to add to floor of aviary
  5. the birds wont bred when that cold mate wait till its no lower than 15 degree day and night this is still to cold but birds can breed in that temp but 6 degree thats asking alot kaz is right about the cats stressing the birds they wont breed if they think its a dangerous spot to raise a family try hanging a shade cloth cover over whole aviary at night and lifting durring days also try putting boxes closer to roof and another half foot apart i wouldnt try bred just one pair three is least id breed at once as things can go wrong and you may need a nother pair or to to help raise chicks in need of help
  6. about a week or two befor this started i bourght them just after i wormed the rest no worms not if you wormed them joel you need to give more info is it cold where you live is aviary covered its not hard to get some good shots of your aviary set up getting new birds now would be silly they will just catch what ever it is the two that lived are amune to even if you qurenteen they may be carryers of the desize was it the two you brought that lived or two original birds can i ask that i think if i was you id spend money on getting crop samples and poo samples from your living birds i believe autopsy are truly a waste of dollars unless the bird is alive before its done but crop and poo samples may hold the answer if not you will know what its not which will help us help you further
  7. cheers dean oh cool does this then mean any df sky violet chicks will give all violet chicks when breed ??? is that how it works dean i thought i read somewhere it did but un sure or do you need to put the df sky to a cobalt for that ? sorry to bother you but you are very knowledgeable on the genetics side of things :sadsorry:
  8. yes i love him hes a ab6 breed cock bird i got at club auction hes actually sky violet i got him thinking he was cobalt for my sky violet splat hen in the picture with new bubby as she also was sky violet when i was after a cobalt im not sure what two sky violets give you as im very rusty on my genetics to date very stressed lately my brain doesnt do stress and memmorie well but im asumming sky blue and sky violet chicks ??? if anyone can inlighten me as to exactlly what i would get from two sky violet birds please do as for pics its amazing what a bit of calm can do for the picture quality kaz lol
  9. very nice make mine look like pets again lol
  10. and then their was 4 little toe has three living siblings and him/herself here is little toe and his/her clutch buddys not all related to him/her one is which one is anyone's guess little toe has a two little dots where his mummy bruised his head pushing him under her for safty so i can still tell him/her apart here is some pics all the clutch little crocked toe is on far right pointing outwardly little toe and now for his/her just hatched like i mean just before i took picture littlest sibling with foster mum n daddy foster daddy
  11. my tourch is just little but ldd lights on it its not hard no need to move eggs also you could addle eggs if move them as mum moves them to percific places duering day n night to keep them growing right its very easy just try id wait 7 days so you can see defenently 7 days for each egg layed
  12. dont fall into the nest and crush your eggs
  13. today crocked toe has a new sister and its being fed so the mummy bird just needed some time im not sure if i should put crocked toe back down or leave things as their not broke regardless thats three for this clutch so far one died pipped to early and two to go so its a great result for 7 eggs all left to chill for more than 6 hours or more lucky one nest had infertile s this is why i leave them sit rather than toss eggs for them to start new round you nevr know when you may need a mummy i usually just take one egg away and replace with a chick due on that time from a nest of 4 or more this leaves three spots for others if i need
  14. he hee hee okay okay its me but im over this game now but one for the road kaz humor me please
  15. yep im sure it was my fault bad management of nests you see normally i give soft food in morn egg grated carrot n weetbix crushed n mixed but last night all *** broke lose and i burn everything and smoked house out and ended up feeding soft food at around 730 pmi left it in all night as it was cold and figured by morn i would beable to collect the dishes same as norm im thinking i gave little on poisioning as its little crop was full with egg and the soft food and had a little yellowish belly a sighn of strep or ecoli all other chicks are still fine i will never feed soft food at night in future they can miss a day very bad coloured pics of my opaline light green chicks last thee from / lacewing boybut you get the idea second youngestyoungest oldest can fly so...youngest is best and then well im not sure but youngest is a hen other two im sure are cocks
  16. update one the / albino cock 06 boy and his woman chick pics these chicks are going to be so so nice the hens are going to be beautiful the feather is so long and soft on them both the cock hes nice boy hope hes / ino just a 25 percent chance so . grey norm cock he will be like dad i think cin grey spangle opaline hen im sorry about the colour just the lighting in my room and the little spangle cin hen im thinking this ones not opaline i will get better colour pics durring day time
  17. because they are rodents we spend all our time keeping mice and rats out so seems silly to add a ginnipig the urinates are not only very strong in smell and they do atract mice (i bred them two years back i gave up as i needed to decide pigs or birds ) they also can carry mite and eye infections that pass on i know as mine were not in same cage and once their my birds got mite from the pigs as i forgot to wash hands before handling a nest :{ it can work but i wouldnt myself
