  1. iodine and calcium bell cuttle bone is not enough also a bird can not stay in breeding condition that long they need to molt maybe she looks like she is this is a big mistake lots make thinking birds are in condition as they look it i just said that somewhere else but im sure if you put her in with her mate and a box you would find out very soon if she is good luck with it if you go ahead dont forget the extra veg
  2. what makes you think you got yellow belly ? could just be the birds really weren't in proper condition sometimes were to quick to pair anything looks in condition sometimes they look like they are they lay mate and all but if they just are passed or bit to early they dont feed or the eat eggs and dont sit they pluck all stuff we just randomly blame on them is truly our own fault 98 percent of the time before i breed my birds i pair them up marry them off and then once mating has commenced i add a box three days latter another method i do is i just pull out the pairs that are matting in flights pop them in the pairrings i want leave a week together then add a box cleaning out commences virtually simultaneously eggs with in 3 days two one week only prob with the second method is i need to be aware of the partner from flight as some hens have been known to have 3 eggs all fertilized by first mate even after a week away from them i found that out recently but i do know you know your birds but that is a option also
  3. best to stay confused mate its easier for me lets just say gb works for me cf thats a hole different subject one best left unexplored and lf sounds rather lets say i just dont like it never will
  4. lol, no.. no... id hate to be CF2 the shoes to fill  although if my initials were to be real thats what id be true, true , you are splat i did ask to be cf when i was discussing it with ring register bloke but he pointed that out thank goodness  intill i realized that Colin was exactly that cf besides id hate to be selling birds and people thinking colin breed them when truly was just little old me besides GB ... generic's birds :D
  5.  you see that is exactly what you must do i cant talk im culling young birds constantly but im at different stage than you and some family lines nothing will leave home till it dies but in saying this i have very small flight and only room to home around 80 birds mabe one hundred but no more thats max limit my happy place is 70 in flight so i have to keep only the best or the well bred birds im actually finishing up my breeding till the chicks molt out or ill have no room most my birds are young so i have ability to not breed for 8 months or so while i watch them grow im still so new im still lost myself at what i keep and what i get rid of
  6. yep buyt one breeding cage to breed them separate and only do it if you can pre house or want more birds also if your prepered to pay any costs
  7. No idea, but I have 3 letters on mine in Sth Qld. Others here have 2 and a number or 3. Maybe someone is having a lend of someone. well i know i wasnt allowed to have my ring code i wanted  so i have to be something else i wanted to be fox as thats my last name i was told i was only allowed my initials only and one number but i didnt want my initials so i asked to be gb but i dont know if i can get that so im just hopeing that i didnt end up with lf as if i did well im not going to use rings and im going to just stick to uncodeds as id love to be fox but since i wasnt allowed i hope i got gb and whatever number avalibale as i know gb1 was gone i would have loved brd but was told no only two letters one number but many have told me thats not true but can only get what im told i can have so but does take the fun out of having your own code when not allowed to have what you want its not like fox or brd are afencive after all  but if i get at least gb ill b okay with it but i really dont want lf i truly just wont use them and go back to uncodeds
  8. I will be ringing mine with the new rings as soon as they are received, i dont think i will have too many blue rings left over. Some people are double ringing but im not convinced it would be worth doing as your blue ringers you ring now will be so much more immature than the 2010 blue ringers when it comes nationals time. I did keep breeding all year through although i will have some hatching around the issue date, i wanted to try to get mine out of the cabinets before it gets to hot so if i only get one round with the new rings before summer comes because the first round hatched to early then thats what i would prefer okay so is it only for the nats they would need a blue ring m cool looks like purple it is then all the way i really dont understand all the date stuff its my disklexia it all does my head in i just breed andif i happen to of actually have a bird ready for certain show all the good if not well im not bothered theirs many more years to show ahead of me yet
  9. lol thats cheeky i like it
  10. to be honest im breeding for stock birds still so im not to bothered about what colour they get on their leg yet i dont even know the pairring dates for haveing birds for diffrent shows ready at that age yet exept pair now for ubc in nov i was told
  11. omg axes and shovels  kaz about time someone stated the obvious method although i myself use another way as i cant stand thought of suffocating anything but then again what i do is not really any different just more drawn out i suppose if i think about it  only reason i choose my way was as my vet told me its quick in painless they dont even know whats happened but yours still seems better im not sure im allowed to say what i do but it doesnt matter as if your way actually works i think its a pretty quick easy way better than as some people say ... bounce the bird that is the cruelest way by far in my opinion
  12. i agree with kaz you know what your doing dont need others to interveen yes helpful suggestions are good i love others imput but i always do my own thing i think what you just said will get you back on track mate good luck with it not out crossing and out crossing to soon is a big decishion you at least gave it a go so you know now where your at
  13. if you cull your chicks to early ill well im incline to ring the really really good pairings with two rings then let my club help me decide what ring should stay on the birds depending on what shows if any they may be good enough for as i have no clue at all i dont even know what my code is going to be :glare: as long as its not LF i am going to be happy hope its gb ,then what ever the number gb i am cause gb1 was taken i was going to make a bracelet and necklace out of left over ones every year this year i will only have 25 out of 100 ,left
  14. they will you wait in see it was a good pairing splat truly i think it was
  15. chin up hun :glare: what ever you do dont sell your good birds if any sell your least if any at all i would recommend not selling any it took 2 years for my aviary to be made and now my breeding room side is still not made believe me darl it may seem like everythings **** but i know what thats like the feeling of defeat before you've even begin life only tosses at us what we can handle even if it seems like we can not you are out in the sticks pretty much alone i know what thats like i may not be in the sticks but im pretty much alone also i get the odd drop in visitor but nothing more than a few bird dudes passing by which i wouldn't even have if i didn't start breeding show birds so i understand it can be tough specially when you see how organized and good some their set ups are and you feel like your so so behind with it all you and many others including myself may not have some the money others have or the expensive birds that you think man that could of brought me 10 garden sheds all fully lined and set up but mate we have something else we have the determination to keep on keeping on and the good feeling you get when you have achieved a task set for ourselves that's a feeling no money can buy the knowing that you achieved what you set out to do sure these people all worked hard for their money so deserve what they decide to spend it on but as i experienced at my last auction even if i had of saved my **** off for two years i still wouldn't have achieved percussing any bird i set my golds on and why well just way things are but what i do know is like kaz said your time will come and everything will fall into place and all you need to do is stay positive and not feel like the worlds got it in for you i may not of got a bird at auction but i got three birds i would never of ever got at any auction anywhere but a week or two latter and i truly believe it was as i was positive and happy to just keep on keeping on with the birds my money could buy as it turns out although i kept my auction money and offered to pay for the three birds i got i was gifted them that to me was a sure sign that my positivity and not wishing i had lots of money to make it up their with a chance it was clearly the best thing i could have done just stayed true to me and my financial ability and just kept on keeping on you know the birds im referring too i truly think that the only reason that i am getting anywhere in this game is because of my sheer determination and a few good people whom have seen my want of all this and felt or seen my determination and know when it comes to affordability and the whole depressing knowledge that my bird room and aviary just aint all that but that im happy and proud of it because simply its all i have and most probably ever will have not only have some these people reminded me that they once had less than myself but they took if a pone their own good will and nature's to assist me so i could move forward in achieving my dream which in all honesty i know deep down will not ever be for-filled (not all these people are well off ) but when somethings so easily acquired its less appreciated from my experience and their fore taken for granted their fore could never be a dream and if we dont have dreams or goals we have nothing so splat all i say is hang in their buddy everyone has their golden year i feel mine is this year i been waiting 36 years for a break and finally i got it you will get yours you will see and when you do you will feel so good that you stayed true to whom you are and true to yourself that you will feel on top off the whole world
  16. yea i only transference eggs before they are incubated if im going to unless its a real necessity as theirs always the risk of infection from germs on our hands even if washed first and the eggs addling as we place them differently to the hens rotation and they dont get turned right leaving chick to addle in shell sorry to hear splat hope for good out comes from now on in
  17. im sorry but did he take any crop wash or poo samples giving a gerneric brand of anti bods is really basiclly stupid he could have killed him unless he knew what he was dealing with and as for commenting on the other bird being good friends again dumb he should have told you to seperate birds till the other was well if he is sick if the generic anti bods are just to generic so to speak then he may missed the whole illness and he couldbe passing it to your other bird im not thinking that vet was very good sorry, i meant it might be genetic for lazlo. not generic... wrong spelling sorry. how can you have genetic probblem solved with antibodies the bird is as splat said possably sick with a secondary infection the vet should have taken swabs and crop wash im afraid your bird may well still be carrying something and the vet giving him a boost has only prolonged finding out what your other bird is in dangour of also getting sick sorry but i think you need to either tell us what exactly was said or go to another vet as we cant diagnose birds illnesses only try help you through when you know whats wrong medicating a bird randomly can cause its death
  18. Glass sliders very smart my friend :happy-dancing: about the arrow in the quote box man id never worked that out lol i still cant use search :{
  19. im sorry but did he take any crop wash or poo samples giving a gerneric brand of anti bods is really basiclly stupid he could have killed him unless he knew what he was dealing with and as for commenting on the other bird being good friends again dumb he should have told you to seperate birds till the other was well if he is sick if the generic anti bods are just to generic so to speak then he may missed the whole illness and he couldbe passing it to your other bird im not thinking that vet was very good
  20. You may find some from this nest surprises you though mate.............its meant to be. hey great news sorry i been down an out and unable to be online last few days i think you will be very suprized what you get from these birds i told you i think they good pairing in pm mate he is a good bird with good background and the dilute is nice hen with what he needs you have pairred well chicks will be nice in my veiw good luck them all hatching hun ill take a / dilute if your not happy with them lol :happy-dancing: but mate i will say it again keep all your chicks for 8 months at least 18 if possible,,...all chicks
  21. if its a cock yes but if a hen i wouldnt but not imposs but thats me :happy-dancing: but if you have healthy birds i wouldnt
  22. warm salt water also will do trick and is free just boil add salt let cool a bit drop in with dropper twice a day
  23. thats cool name but if it happens to be a cock able, means breth to breath (only i cant spell )
  24. i will when its completely finished the birds need more room as i cut of 6 meters of their normal space so im extending with a pop out of about 1100 and 1210 and 1490 a crossed i think thats just estimated guess
  25. that is a really small cage my cocky lives alone in a cage that small and she comes out as its not big enough for her 2 meters by 2 meters by 2 high is only a little bit taller than me my baby cage is 2 meters high 90 a crossed square and i only keep 15 budgies in it at a time (i know yours is 1meter 10 bigger but id only keep either 2 teails in it , or 30 budgies or one cocky or one galah one ringneck one bird anything bigger than a cockateail cannerys maybe 30 of them or mixed cage of finches in cannerys but still only thirty birds all up (specially if planning to breed ) birds need room to fly and move and as far as your breeding budgies living in permanent breeding cages big enough for them to live their whole life well unless their at least two meters long themselves and one meter high for each pair then i doubt thats possible
