i was not critical of your actions either hun and you have followed through with the right action so no harm done its your pennys after all and you can look at it in a way that although he got your money you got a reset and birds to prove his wrong doing you could get a vet cheak and letter to go with your formal complaint and this would give you more power to stop him in future but best not to buy unwell birds to save best to report and have the prof in the shop still when the people come to look at birds and other animals being sold or if you buy them theirs nothing to see and complaint is not valard

i useto feed bread dayly to my breeding birds now i cut back abit as i was worryed about fat and salt content but they still get it cinnamon bread is their favorite

because they are rodents we spend all our time keeping mice and rats out so seems silly to add a ginnipig the urinates are not only very strong in smell and they do atract mice (i bred them two years back i gave up as i needed to decide pigs or birds ) they also can carry mite and eye infections that pass on i know as mine were not in same cage and once their my birds got mite from the pigs as i forgot to wash hands before handling a nest :{ it can work but i wouldnt myself I agree. Personally I wouldn't. Birds might eat the poos and get sick. I wouldn't risk my birds health. Can i ask, is it okay to have quails in an aviary with budgies? if you wipe the beak over with parriphin oil this not only kills the scally mite in very bad situations but it also will soften it and it will gentally come away dayly i think what you have done is good and bad the reason i say this is yes you have now got two birds out of an environment and back to a place you can give them a chance but if you think about it all thoughs other poor birds in their are bound to be also affected and if not now will be shortly being in same environment i think if you want to have an impact on the changing of shop practice and bird hygiene their within i believe a better method would have been to get the shops registered buissness number and then rang the local council and put in a formal complaint about the condition of the birds as the ASPCA are not allowed to intervene in cases like this unless truly cruel eg starvation of animals and dirty surrounding bedding no water extra however its the counsels job to send out the local animal dude to review and report on any neglect or bad management in the community as its the counsels to make sure the small bussnesses are in order the will get a warning and then i think 3 months to pull their head in then if when the next visit a cures the complaint has not been dealt with then they get a hefty fine and possibly their license to sell animals taken off them the counsel must send out someone to review all complaints made against animal neglect in the community when pet shops are concerned buying the birds only helps them stay alive as a buisness and it does not fix the fact that other birds will in a few months time have this same issue so a few pics and a complaint to the counsel the sure way to go done propply not just a call but a formal complaint in writing

This occurs under normal circumstances in the nest too, without the involvement of soft food. yep why you must always cheak babys dayly in mouth dayly fron two weeks on i actually do it from day five on but usually after two weeks it needs cleaning

in reply to you splat i may of asked for some advice from clearwing earlier in the year when my birds were dieing for no apparent reason and he did help me out with how to fix my aviry and i asked him what he feed his breeding pairs (soft food wize ) the other things are a mix of two other breeders feeding plans and it all works for me so far

i agree with this however i dont clip wings but this is due to a trust thing and taming but if in danger i would clip but not to short still want him to fly

okay new pairring i put this pair up last weekend sunday to be exact and two eggs today not very good picture i will try get better one of them soon im aimming at some spangle split albinos or just spangles and or a few normals trying to see if dads split anything and if mums cobalt or violet mabe sky violet as she pink all over body colouring from masking violet or skyviolet i belive but time to find out what one shes masking normal and cinnamon im pretty sure on the cinn but not certain and will know from son mating in future provided the sp cock is not split to cin fingerscrossed he is not

well thank you kaz i must say im very pleased with my last seasons decisions of pairings and although i dont have huge man hands they are defenantly not dainty these chicks the one you have reshown particular is huge i must say and positive its a hen

well looks like only one chick out of the two sky violet pair lived first time mum and dad and had no clue the opaline henx rec dom ?? chick is still with her but not well in my eyes something not quiet right but alive time will tell up abouve in the spangle mums nest however its all good with 4 healthy chicks the only one being lost to her being her own lacewing chick other than that she has the two chicks from the dom rec x op grey pair and one her own and one living chick from sky violet pair so all up 3 with op grey hen x pied one with / lacewing grey gren and sp grey hen one with the sky violet pairing all others were lost under the sky violet hen lost 4 all together by her now some pics of chicks in nest and the sick chick in my opinion two pieds in pied rezult so far and i think ones rec and ones dom
