  3. rach you have all the needs to achieve birds like him if not better ,..true just need to pair them right as you could also end up with **** if you dont use what you have in the way needed I'd be over the moon if I bred a chick like him. Next club meeting is a lesson in pairing. Can't wait. just be careful everyone pairs for diffrent reasons and some times the double up on faults as the birds are both good yes listen take it in but always pair your birds to their positives never the negitives no matter how good a bird is if the bird you want to pair it to has same one id not pair it on negitive can stick in a flock for ages enjoy it though you will learn some valuable things from rod and tony
  4. i was going through my 1000 and more pictures and i was sad as i saw so many beautiful colored birds and i was in the middle of a 6 year breeding plan with 3 years to go with my pet type rainbow df golden face birds when i decided to go into show birds why ... im beginning to wonder this myself although i will never turn back i am however going to start myself another small pet type flock as i miss the colors so much and the challenge of achieving them (although wasnt much a challenge for me achieving the colors it was the df yf opaline violet i was enjoying trying to achieve ) my only problem was i couldnt get hold of a clearwing pair in blue base so i decided after a while to just settle on the cinnamon instead and trying to keep good deep body colour with it this time around im going to be able to breed real rainbows as i have my hands on a split clear wing blue chick hen or cock wont matter and im soon to get a goldenface not sure if it will be df or single but again wont matter as only having one all chicks would be single factor regardless im planing to breed my split clearwing to the goldenface then the split clearwing to a violet of the other sex then pair all chicks together from both clutches that is to say if i have boys and gals from each clutch im bound to get at least one or two clear wings that way yes its a big chance and theirs easyer ways but i miss the exitment of the unpredictibal show birds dont have that you know the out come before you pair sure theirs a few people who get suprizes but not if you got good history's on your birds so i will keep small flock of pets once again i kept two pet birds from my show birds breedings they are really not show birds very beautiful but only pet birds so i will start my pet line with them here are some the reasons im going to get back into the pets most these birds were sold to people from here so you may be thinking wow thatlooks like my bird it just might be i got heaps more pics to put up so many birds
  5. well is she in good health bar the injery is she eatting or not how old and is it one eye or both these are all things i would consider if eatting and only one eye i would bath head with benidine and keep her inside for few months id bring in a friend for her also while she recovered i know you will decide whats right kaz i have no doubt about that good luck with her

  13. Zebra ?? i was thinking that kaz :glare:
  14. Sorry Squeak. 12 is a child. You can call it pre teen if you like. I am certainly not using the term pre in relation to me as that would make me a pre-pensioner  lol making me a pre 40sy :wine  and quickly becoming pre -sieved
  15. yes hes quiet the little stunner a 50 percent g&g 25 percent c&b and 25 percent cf1 breed baby think ill get some real use out of the cock and pair him straight to my lacewing hen split this pairing up when chicks are bit older
  16. thanks kaz i think their okay as for lossing any ... no not with my babys in fact i prefer to do it like that as when i change seed and soft food i quiet often forget doors my babys are usually fairly tame and dont try fly out cage and im in the house with other doors secured a safe room if they did get out i also leave doors open to my breeding pairs when feeding and cleaning comming back and forward to their cage with diffrent things for them so they are all quiet use to me and the door being open a lot i would highly recommend that no one did this bar me my birds have been accustom to this since for ever and would be a huge risk for anyone to try this .... i do it only simply as i know i can but their are some birds that see freedom and thats it gone but not mine they are inside anyhow
  17. okay so most of the chicks from my opaline and df dom rec pied cock died so i wont beable to give a decishion on what he is as yet but i have him up to a better bigger hen now shes starting to preper nest so fingers crossed its a normal grey hen this time but the two chicks that lived are i believe two doms no rec pied so .. anyway here are all the chicks the split lacewing boy and his hen raised first up their own chick a grey cock which means hes posably split lacewing hes very cute bit small but only four weeks their abouts off my head not ready to come out yet foe few weeks at least sky violet hen (splat from the niece of your splat hen) the two doms wouldnt come out from hiding but you can see them in their i will get picture them when they start comming out nest
  18. or as i call them mustard grey green but still grey green just the dark factor affecting it and the green with the cinnamon i think they are my fav colour grey greens
  19. as long as mums removed its all good as rest is concerned everyone's different i myself like a longer period of rest for my birds but their are times that a bird is in great condition again after two months so ... each bird is different

lol so were a flock now welcome
  21. she is my fav she really does resemble one i must get better shot her doing her fur seal face :fear
  22. so with this clutch i sold the second chick and keep the youngest cin hen reason for this is that i wanted spangle with out opaline hens i kept the smaller looking grey boy as i think he will suprize and hes poss split albino i will put him to albino hen so that even if hes not his chicks will be then if hes not up to my standards cull him chicks i kept ,.. the grey the cin hen not so small now with lots growing room they are sitting on another 8 eggs but i think only 4 maybe five are viable :fear i get a bino hen this time also this morning my first chick hatched with my albino hen and my sky blue cf1 cock so hope its a boy :fear as i think only this hatched egg and one other are fertile
  23. i just remove mum leave chicks in nest dad still feeds them and for longer but i lower it to floor
  24. well here they are the greys and blue chicks all hens :fear all very nice first blue hen (sky) her at backnext to my grey/inos chick a cock and two sisters at front the two greys only thing i could say is masks are short but their only week out so lol will drop the biggest chick grey hen with the grey/albinos cinnamon hen chick at front the biggest one looks like a fur seal they also been out one week
  25. yes yes i know ive been very slack im sorry just things got hectic here for a bit so bubbys came out last week here they are cinnamon spangle cock (i forgot since fathers split and mum is cinn the chick could of been hen or cock so i was wrong their squeak crumble ) he is my favorite one but its a hard call between him and his spangle brother :fear who finally sat still :fear then the df spangle who i still really dont think is good enough for my needs but will let molt out only as i promised kaz and a friend that who i ask advice from and be stupid to ask advice and not listen so he stays for now with a grey chick from a diffrent clutch so thats it thats them not quiet what i was expecting butim happy with them enough to let them have second clutch 13 was the first egg and yesterday the 15 aug was the second egg so let see what this clutch brings :hap:
