HI Thanks for all the help. I went to a few petshops today just to see if they had the rings. One shop had them but tried to get me to buy finch rings, he said "Finch and budgies have the same leg width so these rings will be fine" I am going to ring up a friend and see if he has any. Last sunday I put iverctmin spoton on the back of a few of my birds necks. They still have scaly face and I am just wondering if I should give another dose or just wait? How long does it usually take to cure the problem. Thanks very much

Thank you all. I do tend to over worry things but I would rather be prepared if somthing bad happens. Does anyone here use split plastic rings of their babies? Are they strong enough? Can the birds break them off? How does the ring hold together? Thanks very much.

Here are some bad quality pictures I took this afternoon when I cleaned the nest box out. As you can see the crop milk is not pure white/yellow but I am not worried, the birds are still alive so it means they are being fed.

I tried your method KAZ. The problem is that all 4 toes are exactly the same length and instead of 3 facing forward and 1 facing back, One is facing north, one is facing south, one is facing west and one is facing east. The leg is not developed enough to be rung yet. ThANKS

THanks very much Maesie. I Put a ring on the eldest chick today(6 days old) and it fell off. It must be in the shavings somewhere, Iwill just try put a new one on in a few days. His legs have not grown enough yet, his toenails are still pink and very fragile.

Dont worry they are just black seeds in their. When they get older they wil be completley stuffed with them. I know it is a very scary experience but you will get the hang of it and you will learn in your own time what is right and wrong. okay Thank you very much missylu. I have added some shavings to the nest box. I am hoping they keep the babies warm and I am also hoping summer doesnt throw them out like usual.

Summer now has 3 babies and neon has 2. Every baby has been fed. Instead of the entire crop being filled with white milk, their are black dots in their... could they be seeds? Or a disease? The crop milk has black dots in it. I will post pictures if you cant understand me. Thanks,

Yf1 Or 2?
I think yellowface 2 because the yellow goes through the wings and the chest where as if he was yellowface 1 he would not have the yellow through the wings, it would be white.

Hi all Summers 3rd baby hatched today while I Was at work. All 3 babies have been fed. Neon and thunders first baby also hatched today. Summer has 7 eggs, do you think if all the eggs hatch she will be able to cope with feeding them all? I could transfer one to neon but I would not know when? I can see the size difference in summers 3 already, so imagine what it would be like for the oldest and the youngest in summers box. If you have any ideas please post THanks very much.

Hi Thanks for the comments. If a baby has not been fed, will the crop still be white? The reason I am asking this is because the babys crop is white but it is not big, bulky or full like some other baby pictures I've been viewing.

Would I need a syringe or will he eat from a teaspoon? He has a white milkish substance in his stomach but their are bubbles... Is the mother still supposed to incubate after the chick has hatched? Thanks

That is good then. I have a question reguarding silverbeet and breeding birds. The silverbeet has to much iron and it reduces the budgies calcium intake right? Is it okay to feed silverbeet to the breeding budgies once a week? Or should it not be fed at all? Thanks very much.

I clipped the feathers on all the birds vents. I do not actually know if the eggs are infertile or not I am just asking these questions so I am prepared. I am still hoping that they are fertile. I forget that you need to count from when she starts incubating. I was counting from when the first egg was laid. The first egg is not due for 5 days yet. I tried candling in the nest box with no sucess. I shine the led torch down on the eggs and see nothing, Absolutley nothing. The eggs are all whitish colour except for the newly laid eggs, these are pink. To clip vent feathers do I get a pair of scissors and cut away at the area or do I pluck the feathers out with tweezers? I do not even know exactly where the vent is. I am thinking it is in between the birds legs. Is their a tutorial that can show me how to do this? Thanks very much for the help I will keep you updated.

All are above 1 1/5 years old, none are over 4 years old. They are in good health as far as I can see... good droppings and they are not fluffed up. Very energetic. They are all in breeding condition. They all mate I have seen it. I have been told that maiden hens often lay infertile eggs in the first round so I will just let them go again. Thanks for your help.

HI If you have a pair that lay all infertile eggs, do you keep them in the cage to lay another clutch or do you release them to the avairy for a while? If so how long do you release them for? Thanks.
