Hi I recently bought a worming supplement from the shop. Is it safe to use for breeding birds? And 5 week old babies? It is a mixture I add into their water for 24 hours. What are your opinions? Should I wait? Or do it now? Thanks

Hi How can the chicks be yellowface/golden face if the mother is dark green cinamon spangle and father is yellow recesive pied? Could summer actually be a yellow face?

Hi okay so the chicks are yellow/golden face? Does that mean Once the chick gets older, I could breed her to a blue bird and the offspring would be green yellowfaces split blue? Then the following year I could breed the yellowface split blue with a blue normal and I could get yellowface blues? How can I be getting yellow face babies, would chomper and summer both have to be split yellowface? Or is summer a yellowface spangle? instead of a dark green spangle. Sorry if I am confusing you. I will post pictures of the babies when they have matured and hopefully we can figure out the mutations.

okay so eventually they all should get used to me. Im not saying I will ever show budgies but it is possible. If I put one of my current birds into a showcage and put it on display, it would fly around like mad and would probably be disqualifed instantly. How do you all keep your show budgies calm in the cage? THanks

Hi I have yet another query. Most of my current avairy budgies are very scared of humans, I guess this was because they werent handled as babies. When the current baby budgies are released into the avairy, will they be afraid of me aswell? I handle each one every day hoping that they wont be afraid of me. I dont need them to be tame I just would like them to not fly away when ever I go in the avairy. I went to a breeders avairy yesterday and none of his show birds flew away when I walked inside. And he can catch his with his hands, that would be impossible with mine. So basically my question is, is it possible to have an avairy full of budgies that are not scared of humans and dont fly around like mad when ever I walk in, if so how do you do this?

Why Isn't She Laying?
Someone with more experience will post here soon. Do you know if she has had babies before? Maybe you could take the nest box out for a few days, let them mate for a while and then re add the nest box? I had a 3 year old female who was very affectionate to other birds but she spent all her days in the nest box. She did not come out to mate. I removed the nest box for a week and she changed dramatically. She mated with the male and once I added the nest box back in the cage she layed immediatley. Good luck

Why Isn't She Laying?
How long has the nest box been in the cabinet? How long has she been in the cabinet? Do you know how old she is? Make sure the perches are firm and dont wobble, make sure both birds are over a year old and make sure both are in condition. Feed them lots of vegetables/soft food/calcium and if all goes well she will lay. If she still doesnt she could be infertile or the male could be?

Why Isn't She Laying?
Is she in a cabinet with a male or in an avairy full of other budgies? How long has the nest box been in for? How old is she? Is she in condition?

Babies Genders
okay Thanks everyone I will try again tomorow without the flash. When I try use the flash everything comes out extremley blurry. Should I be using the macro setting? All I want to do is take photos of birds, that is all the camera is used for. My camera is an olympus mju 410, does anyone have one of these? Any tips would be great. Elly - So once I cover the flash with black duck tape do I push the trigger button down half way? Then it auto focuses and I push it down all the way? THanks very much

Rocky - Opaline spangle green 5. Chess - Green normal 6. Checkers - Grey green opaline If you wouldnt mind just put the number - gender or name - gender Thanks very much

Thanks KAZ. I managed to take one not blurry picture this afternoon but it still is not the best. Can anyone tell the genders of the two babys. The opaline's name is checkers and the normals is chess. I have an olympus camera and when I try take photos of the cere it all goes blurry, other than that it is fine. I have tried using flash and the macro setting.

okay KAZ I wasnt thinking when I put the hospital cage near the breeding cages. I just hope its not a disease that is going to spread to summer and the babies. If a bird escapes, does it need to be quarantined before released back into the avairy?

Hi Last week one of my budgies escaped from the avairy. The next day I caught him sitting on the antenna of the house. Once I caught him I put him in a hospital cage right above chomper and summers breeder cage. Do you think the bird could have got a disease outside then when I put him in the hospital cage he gave it to chomper? If a bird escapes for a day does it need to be quarantined again before placed back in the avairy? I cant help but think chomper got a disease from this bird..
