Feather Duster?
Thanks everyone for all the help. Im happy she is not a feather duster, It doesnt bother me if she cannot fly. I have 2 other avairy birds who cannot fly. I have ladders and perches close to the ground so all the birds can climb up. Thankyou

I wet the budgies today it was very hot. Aftermath: I also have yet another question. I have neon and thunder in a breeding cage and they have 3 babies (ranging from 30 - 38 days old) I do not want thunder to lay another lot of eggs. So what can I do? She will lay eggs in a few days I can already notice the large droppings and she is mating with neon alot. If I remove the nest box the babies will not have anywhere to shelter. What can I do? I do not want neon and thunder breeding again because every baby has either been plucked or it has french moult and one even looks to be feather duster.

Hi Here is the moulting budgie... He is just getting worse and worse.. I pick him up and my hands are just covered in feathers, and he is the oldest in the nest by 2 days but has the least amount of feathers. And this is the budgie that I said was a feather duster. But now I am not so sure.

Thank you very much KAZ for changing my thread title. The babies are 36 - 39 days old now do you think I should put them in a cage by themselves now? Hi I have just checked on all the babies and the babies in neon and thunders nest are not looking to good... The grey green opaline baby looks to be a feather dustuer. and the green normal still looks to be a french moult baby.. I will post pictures soon

Hi In 4 days the babies can be removed into a holding cage for a while then moved into the avairy Pictures: This is Beast. He would kill me if he had the chance but he is very caring towards his babies. If one of the babies cant get back to the perch he goes down to the bottom and guides him up. Here he is trying to swoop the camera. See the skyblue opaline: That must mean neon (grey green) is split for blue. Thanks Also, how Do registered users become guests on this site>? I noticed that Joel and Daz and keisha are now guests.

My Bush Budgies Breeding
One of my female budgies laid 3 eggs then skipped 4 days and started laying again. So maybe your budgie is just skipping a few days and she will lay more later. Congratulations on the eggs.

Hi I went to the vet today with scissors (Baby cockatiel with scissors beak). He has taught me somemassage techniques that hopefully can fix the problem as he is only very young the beak is not too strong yet. Both cockatiels are out of the nest box now. The babies in neon and thunders nest are honestly looking abit worse for wear... They are all losing feathers. I add shavings to neons nest box everyday but she removes them straight away, it makes the babies very dirty if their are no shavings in the nest box. The youngest baby is skyblue opaline. The babies in summers breeding cage are all 5 weeks+ so they can be removed in one week. They are all very big, they take after their mother who is huge. It is funny because when I put my hand in the cage they all fly down and start nibbling me. I will post pictures soon. Bye

The babies are very big and can eat and drink on their own now. The baby in neon and thunders nest box is still losing feathers, they are all in the nest box. Good news is the youngest in neon and thunders nesting box is blue.

Also, Is french moult contagious? Genetic? If neon and thunder bred a french moult budgie, will they definitly have other ones? Or is it random? They have had 2 clutches together before and not a single french moult baby...

Hi Summer has laid another egg.. I was planning to give her a break and then put her back in the aviary for a while. Should I let her lay another lot of eggs? I have no pairs to transfer to because all other pairs either have full grown chicks or do not have eggs at all yet. This is her first ever clutch so would it do harm to her to let her lay again? Chomper died 4 days ago and they would have mated on that day so that means that the first and second egg should be fertile doesnt it? What should I do? Also, is it safe to remove all the babies from summers breeding box now? They are between 30 - 39 days old. I do not want her attacking them because she is laying again. The chicks actually feed eachother, I have seen it. Thanks very much.
