Thanks very much the birds love it. I will put neon and thunders babies in another cage for 2 weeks starting from tomorow, they are being plucked.

Hi all Today I saw neon (male) plucking the feathers off the back of the french moult babies head. Could he be just preening him or could he be wanting the female to himself so he is trying to get rid of the babies? The youngest baby is 40 days old. Should I put all the babies in their own cage now or what? What can I do? Thankyou

I have made the mixture and it looks okay. I got a full container from just 2 eggs and 1 quarter of the recommended mix. If this is sucessfull I will never have to buy egg and buscuit again. Do I have to add water? If so how much? Thankyou

Hi I bought egg and buscuit mix today but its not what I expected. It is like a dry sandy substance and it should not be wet at all, is this what normal egg mix is? I thought you had to wet it.

I live in lockyer valley and we had huge flooding, biggest I've ever seen. The water was that strong it knocked our metal fences down and dragged everything with it. Luckily the house and sheds were not damaged.

Do I spray them with lice spray? Update: Look at him... he looks so sick, he is losing feathers under his beak now.

Alright I will see what I can do thankyou. do you think shade cloth from bunnings placed about 50 cm above the avairy roof would cool it down?

It gets very hot where I live and the avairy is made out of tin. I spray the avairy roof with water twice a day is their anything else I can do?I am going to have to do somthing about the heat before I put the babies in the avairy. Any ideas?

THanks KAZ. How big is your cage? I just dont want to release them into the avairy to find they could not eat and all died. Also, By looking at the pictures of the babie budgies do you think they will grow to be show size? Or are they pet type babies? The mother and father are show budgies but these babies look more like pet types. Will they grow alot bigger?

Thankyou for that information KAZ. I have 2 more questions if thats okay. 1. Does anyone think it still could be a stress moult or is it to late for that now? I will post pictures if necessary. 2. I have 8 week old babies in a cage at the moment and I am wondering if I should put them in the avairy or leave them in the cage? What do you think I should do? Thanlks

Hi everyone. The babies are doing great. Summer and chompers babies are in a cage on their own now and I put a few toys and things in their. They are eating seed, calcium bells, cuttlefish and they love corn kernels. They also drink water. Neon and thunders babies are doing well aswell. All still have low amounts of feathers so I am 90% sure they have french moult. They all have stubby tails. They are all out of the nest box now. Questions: 1. I want to stop neon laying eggs so if I were to remove the nest box and put all the babies in a ice cream container with shavings on the floor, would they be fed? 2. Can someone please name some brands of hulled oats? I have been to countless pet shops and none know what I am talking about. Thanks I will post pictures soon.

Hi none of the babies in neon and thunders nest have flight feathers or a tail. The eldest has no colour on his chest either.
