  1. Not a spangle but she might do the job as we could get spangle babies anyway. We could give them a try and you could take any non-spangle babies and I could take the spangle babies (or we'll work something out if they are all one or the other)
  2. Wow, THANKYOU SOOOO MUCH!, this might just make the difference for the moment. I have to do something in return for you, if you need something moved on the trailer or you come up with something you want done let me know. Let me know when you want to start
  3. The main thing that I hav learnt is genetics and mutations, but the other thing I have learnt is that if I ever have a problem I can't deal with on my ownI have a great support network here that will do their best to help me
  4. Depends on the bird though AV, can you imagine any of my birds getting stressed in a busy market It would probably be like a relaxing holiday compared to my house
  5. Wow AV, tht's an amazing offer, are you sure? I would probably inflict Max on you as it's Alex that really needs the work at the moment. I still haven't decided what Im doing though... On a seperate note are you available for a babysitting job Friday week in the evening (10th)? I have my uni graduation at 8pm that evening.
  6. There is a good chance we will AV since his hen is a green spangle and he is a DF green spangle I'm trying to track down a cinnamon spangle hen as his next mate, so keep an eye out for me
  7. If it was just up to me I'd stop work tomorrow but I know that despite saying he'll support whatever I decide my hubby really wants me to take the $$. He lives away though for work and I don't think he really understands how bad he is getting
  8. Yeah that's why I suggested a visit instead, if I was going to a market to sell other stuff I might take some birds with me too to sell... Personally I'd probably take some photos of my set up, etc as well though
  9. Well good news so far on the egg front for these two. I fostered out the second egg to a hen that seemed reliable and she has taken great care of it for me. They laid a third one today and Ozzie has been in the nest box but it is still intact, so fingers crossed
  10. I have had enough of childcare, the reality is that the kid that makes the most noise is the one that gets the attention and this is leading to all sorts of problems with my kids at home. They are progressively getting worse and worse with their behaviour on the weekends and in the evenings. The reason I'm sure it's childcare is because when we had them home for a month over xmas they were awful for a week and then lovely for the rest of the time. I am keen to stay home and sort them out myself as it has reached the point with my oldest that I feel he is starting to go off the rails He spent this weekend in an almost constant tantrum, threw things and hit his brother and generally missed out on all the nice things we had planned (trip to the playground, etc). The problem is that I have been offered a couple of more months of work if I want it. I know we REALLY need this income in the short term to help save the last little bit we need to buy our house next year and with xmas(and a large number of family birthdays) coming up BUT I'm very concerned about what I'm risking by accepting it. I investigated family daycare but there is a long wait for places and our only other option is a private nanny which we can't really afford. Sigh... I don't expect you guys to be able to solve my problems, I just really needed to write it down so it didn't drive me insane
  11. Awww... baby
  12. Hey I'm just getting into cresteds Neat, wouldn't that blow em away

Yes that is true. If you can get an icecream tub and put it up somewhere where the parents can see it in the morning, then they will possibly still feed it, it doesn't have to be back in it's own nest
  14. oooh sorry Neat! Budgie!!!
  15. kookaburra
  16. Don't know if you get them overseas Elly but there are alot of strange hybrids here (not that I entirely agree with doing it deliberately), people breed galahs with corellas and all sorts of other things so the eggs may not necessarily be clear

From the description it sounds like it is not quite ready to fledge yet, often they are second or third babies and get pushed out by an older sibling.
  18. I have a distinct feeling that I would be putting in a nest box out of some weird perverted curiosity but I don't know if it would be a good idea...
  19. dog (well mine does anyway)
  20. I suppose it's not unheard of, there are all kinds of weird hybrids out there so it's certainly possible, maybe you would get blue cockatiels I guess if you think about it, a randy budgie will have his way with the perch or his favorite toy so just picking the only available other birds is probably not that surprising

A little off topic but I had a butcher bird land in the tree above me yesterday arvo with a baby blue tongue in it's beak, he would have eaten well last night, it was about half as long as he was! I assume it was probably feeding chicks as well.
  22. Have a look on ebay you might be able to pick up a cheap one that will suit. Here you go: Aviaries near Toowoomba

The best bet would be to contact your local wildlife care number, not only is it illegal to raise them without a permit they have quite specialised diets.
