Send them all to me All I want in my aviaries is spangles and normals to put to my spangles. I have four or five opalines that I'm gonna send on their way as I just don't even want any chance of them getting into the mix

Ooo, I'm Grumpy!
Well basically I spoke to the guy, he offerred to give them to me cheap (but not at the price that I bid) and I told him I didn't want to drive all the way to Geelong for the price he was offering. I suggested that in future he should be clear in his listings as to what is actually for sale and make sure he states it so that there is no confusion. I'm just gonna let it go as he seems like a nice bloke and it really is more hassle than it's worth.

Could Someone Identify Her Please?
I have a very similiar one at home which is only now about 8 months old, I got him as a baby and his colouring was just like that except slightly paler (as he is skyblue as opposed to cobalt)

Av 1, Rat 0
As far as I'm aware Neat AV had no plans to use bait, she has dogs and a mouse catching king parrot so I doubt you would find bait within cooee of the place

Could Someone Identify Her Please?
Note how the yellow on her face is brighter than the rest of her yellow. She is a YF2 dom pied spangle, she is actually a blue bird in green clothing

Do Owls Eat Budgies?
I agree entirely with you Linda that they aren't raptors, infact if you read my earlier post you will see that I said they aren't. It was driving me nuts so I spoke to the guy that does the bird research at work (I work for the vic dept of sustainability) and his response was: 'Birds of Prey' simply refers to a food choice, it has nothing to do with their anatomical make up. The term bird of prey can be loosely applied to any spoecies which catches it's prey LIVE, including birds like cormorants and indeed tawnys, a bird doesn't have to be a raptor to be a bird of prey. At any rate I feel this is dragging AVs topic down so I won't argue the point any further.

Let me know if you are doing a cull at any stage and I might just do that (or if you are heading south) I'm just getting into spangles as my chosen mutation and they aren't that easy to come by.

Do Owls Eat Budgies?
They still take prey which is what makes them a bird of prey, I think you have it the wrong way around, they aren't raptors (raptor refers to the claws on the feet and the fact that they kill with them). Raptors are birds of prey and so are owls but owls aren't raptors :laughter: I have studied zoology at uni and worked with birds of prey :laughter: Here you go, I tracked down a dictionary definition for you: bird of prey noun Definition: bird that kills for food: a bird that kills for food and has sharp talons and a sharp curved beak. Owls, eagles, and hawks are birds of prey.

I Have Chocolate Fried Eggs
I don't know what breed those are but the ones they use for meat growing are sexed by colour, the brown chicks are one and the yellow ones the other but I don't believe that's true for all breeds.
