  1. My second labour was a nightmare too. I was already fully dilated before I had any contractions, it all seemed just a little too easy... Then my waters broke and within 5 minutes I was in full labour (contractions one minute apart!) but he wasn't in the right position and so I sufferred through full labour for about 9 hours before they eventually decided to prep me for a ceaser, then he got the hiccups, turned over and out he came He's been a difficult child from the start
  2. I'm not opposed to it Denise, just excited but apprehensive about going through it all again :hap: With my second it was an easy decision as my first pregnancy was a breeze and he was an easy baby, my second pregnancy was awful so it makes you think twice about putting yourself through it all again
  3. A nest box on the bottom of the cage is easiest at this point :hap:
  4. My only recommendation at this stage is to only supplement their water a couple of days per week :hap:
  5. :hap: It kinda helped me AV now tell my mum, my husband and my children! In the words of Alex... (who's 4) Hubby: Hey Alex would you like mummy to have another baby? Alex: Yep...but three babies!!! Hubby: Why three? Alex: Well Maxie's a boy and I'm a boy and mummy's a girl. So that's two boys and a girl...three babies, see! Hubby and me: Ah ha...
  6. okay, so we've decided to have another baby, my mum is hassling us for a girl (don't ask me what I'll do if we have another boy!) and our youngest is about to turn two. Can someone talk me out of it before I make my life more chaotic than it already is
  7. Thanks Dave, yes she is mauve I'm not too worried if I don't get any blue series from them, they are only pet types and I'm sure no matter what they'll be gorgeous
  8. Yep Neat, Tawnys are part of the 'Nightjar' family. Closely related to owls but not owls
  9. I have no idea whether he is split Neat, but they just love each other so much.
  10. If you are silly enough to come you'll be in for the long haul! I have to drive to Bentleigh to pick up the fish tank/stand and then to Narre Warren to pick up my painting and then back home. I was planning to harrass my brother in law to catch the train up from his place and help me carry things. Happy for extra hands or if you just want to meet somewhere though
  11. He's a tawny frogmouth, not an owl They will chase anything that moves. Best bet would be to get a piece of shadecloth and put it over the aviary window at night like a curtain so that he can't see in Even if you took them out for a couple of days he'll probably still come back in the future. I have had a kestrel try and catch my birds through the aviary and the stoopid lorikeet thought she would say hello and nearly lost her scone
  12. I'm heading to Narre Warren over the weekend, might pop in for a sticky
  13. The poor little guy, I had to shine that light on him for about 5 minutes while I tried to get him to stay still so I could look. Even with the light I could only barely see them, sothin I wasn't sure if I was imagining things.
  14. It could be a number of things but doesn't sound like a feeding issue. Can you post a photo?
  15. Libby concern was only age so it would be fine Which shop is it? (If you don't mind sharing- PM me if you would prefer)
  16. no, nothing to suggest pied floating around in there. Other than those eyes he really loks like your stock standard green normal budgie. I kinda like the eyes though, makes him look babyish I was about to pair him with a dom pied and I don't think I have a recessive pied (unless AV has one of mine), any other suggestion what I should pair him with? Aha!!!! I think I have gotten to the bottom of it (although I think he hates me now ) I shined a really broght light on him and I can just see the faintest white ring then around the very edge of his eye, so maybe he just has a really thin ring that is not visible until he is in unusually high light conditions
  17. The even ness of colour suggests cock to me. The fact that it is pied means it won't develop the blue colouring of a normal cock.
  18. A few people have asked what the real difference in size is between the original nbush budgies, pet types and show types so here you are: Unfortunately I was having alot of trouble getting them to sit next to each other nicely but as you can see it's amazing what a century of domestication can do to a species.
  19. That's it, I'm gonna go hook them out and take a proper photo with the three different sizes Back later
  20. I have a cock who is nearly four years old. Having just posted a picture of him in the other thread it's occrred to me that he doesn't have iris rings, is this common in normals?
  21. okay, well I might set her up then. I would like to put her with my tame inside cock who has taken a rather large liking to her Since they are both used to the sights and sounds of the household I will probably keep them in the house to breed so I will be able to keep a good eye on her This is her as a baby: I think she is so pretty and this is the cock:
  22. If you put them in a few other houses near their too (so they don't cotton on) it doesn't matter if you pick up the birds, just say you are helping a friend set up an aviary and so you put the flyers in lots of houses in the area.
  23. I have a hen who I got last year at the age of about 4 months. She was bullied in the aviary and lost a lot of weight and so I brought her inside and have been getting her back to health. She is old enough to breed this season and now seems healthy and I am keen to put her in a box but just wanted to check how long others think it is best to wait? She has been well now since early Autumn. Also she is a dom pied and I want to put her with a normal, would I get pied babies from that or normals? Edited: as I got the age wrong
