Bearing this in mind KAZ would you change the pairings around so the DF was paired to the Rec Pied Cock and the Violet paired with the Dom Pied Hen or would you not pair a DF Spangle to a Pied either?

I wouldn't do that... would cause the hen to get scared and then all sorts of bad things could happen...

I'm not a guru and I don't remember what effect the violet has on percentages, Your DF Spangle is YF so that should add another percentage into the mix Look forward to hearing from the guru's....

not if you put something over the cage at night... should be fine. In regards to keeping your room clean, you can get cage skirts I think they call them, they are meant to keep the seed in the cage when they fall down, not sure how successful they are but maybe someone else will know... its like a fittet sheet that goes on the bottom of the cage...
