looking forward to reading the progress jlee. Do you know the background of your birds? Just curious to know what you are expecting out of the pairs, like if the first green is split for blue or are you just hoping for some grey greens? etc. etc. as a beginner it would be great to understand the pricess different people go through when pairing up...

vets over here recommend it too Sean... If you are feeding your birds a varied diet you've got nothing to worry about. You'll spend way more on pellets then you will a varied diet, and that will be about the only difference.

A lot of the big cats that have been created are test tube cubs too it's one thing for birds in the wild to cross breed, its a whole other story to go around trying to play with genetics and create a mongrel mix...

Got some great looking birds... Love the sky blues... Never used to like skyblue but they are growing on me... Isn't it funny how preferences change over time...

Do you have any grey greens? If not you could pair: Grey cock x cinnamon green hen cinnamon green Dom pied cock x cobolt Hen that would get you some split blues... If your just doing it for fun the possibilities are endless...

reminds me of an old book I read on Budgerigars. They said to put 'sleeping quarters' all around the top of the aviary... the 'sleeping quarters' looked very similar to breeding boxes...

to be honest I made 3 cabingets myself and I have no ability whatsoever when it comes to wood work. Sure they weren't perfect as the stuff Daz makes but they were similar in size and shape... the only difficulty I had was finding cage fronts. Next time I build them I think I'll find what cage fronts are the most easy to get and then make the dimensions suit the cage fronts. Bunnings is my hero now! Give it a try and see how you go.
