Thanks a heap for that... Yeah I don't think leaving it to the elements is an option. Budgie fever is coming on and I think the only way to solve it is to jump in running. The best way to do that is with lots of information. Everyone on the site is really helpful so thanks a million everyone... hopefully soon I will be able to put the theory into prac.

Oh and another thing, do I spray it down with anything before I put birds in there?? Thanks for the response Liv, Gawler is a nice place... plan on taking a holiday there in may with the wife and kid... family reunion.

Hey all, hope your all having a wonderful time. I am wanting to buy an aviary to house budgies. Now I'm not sure how many or how quickly I will want to expand my budgie population, but by the sounds of most people here once you have one you've got to have 20 :(Laughing out loud): I want to start of slow though so I'm thinking start with 4 and see how I go with that first. Obviously something like DAZ's is extreme, awesome but extreme, I'm not going to be breeding for a while (years) but eventually I'm pretty sure I'd like to go down that path... SOooo... what size is a good starting size, remembering I am in suburbia and I have neighbours... Thanks for the help guys, apprieciate it.

Sorry to hear about Saphire. Steel is looking good though. Good luck with the breeding will be interesting to see what comes of it :hap: has there been any research done on wether a twin budgie is more likely to produce twins of there own?? Would be interesting to find out.

Has Daz been nominated for Australian of the year?? Seriously mate, the posts that you write are so informative and helpful to a person that is thinking about starting up are a god send. People have to understand that this is where their love of budgies might take them in the future and if you arn't willing to put in alot of time and money you might not be ready to breed budgies. I'm not saying everyone will go out and build monumental avairies like yourself but they do need to consider the possibility that they will need to one day if they want to breed regularly and I think you do a wonderful job of showing people how to achieve that.

Great article. Just one question, as you can tell I am new to this site and was wondering if there are any online directories of breeders? For a first hand experience of what is required when breeding budgies. It's easy for young kids, and adults, to get excited about breeding but what would be great if people could read this article then go, "okay well a breeder is here maybe I can ask to see his/her layout and how much is actually required." But all in all a great article.
