Possibly, I've got an old book that tells me to build everything out of Asbestos... not sure that would be a commonly held view nowadays... I'd love the Publisher info if you could get it for me that would be wonderful!
  2. I didn't think you could just wanted to make sure... thanks GB
  3. Hey all, just a quick question on Ino's Masking... If an ino is masking Opaline can you tell when it is a chick from the colour of the down? Thats all for now, once this question is answered feel free to hijack this thread otherwise it could be a very short thread and I might look stupid
  4. looks like blue on top of the cere... I'm agreeing with GB but hey what do I know? ... <---Rhetorical Question
  5. Hahaha! Just watched a Documentary filmed off the coast around Vancouver Island! It was on Nat Geo and was about Giant Pacific Octopus. Great show! Nice Island
  6. I was about to say why are you so intent on having DF Spangle Albino's but you just answered that with 'Cos I Can' All I'd be careful about is not letting this side project (if you consider this the side project) slow down your progress as far as breeding good show birds is concerned. Which one is your priority, breeding good show budgies, or breeding Albinos masking DF Spangle?

Welcome to the forum Dong. That's great that you have your kids involved. I remember growing up and our neighbours had budgies. They were awesome, We always wanted to hang out near the aviary. Read through the FAQ section, there is always great information in there and the PInned topics at the top of each forum section is also great reading.

Welcome to the forum!! I am sure with 40 years experience you'll have plenty of great advice for beginners like myself  What is the name of Harry Bryan's book? Always up for a good read on budgies.
  9. haha! Love this photo Splat. Seriously good picture!
  10. Agree with KAZ, YF DF Spangle and yours is a YF Albino (creamino).
  11. yep it does. Thanks PT. Should've put in a bid on that Cec Gearing one that Tonkin started at 100... easy for me to say who didn't spend a cent on budgies
  12.:lol: It didn't even enter my mind how that would sound. I really enjoy auctions, gotta get to some more of them this year...
  13. Really enjoyed Geoff Gardiners interview. Was great!
  14. Sorry macka didn't realise you were there, I was a bloke with an orange Texas hoodie on (I'm sure you were really paying attention to what blokes were wearing  ) did ya pick up any birds? It doesn't surprise me at all with those prices of the last 50 or so... Some good birds in there. There were plenty of phone bidders KAZ, that could be an option for next year...
  15. He is a very nice bird!
  16. 680 for one from Mario Capasso, 520 for a G. Tonkin. 580 for a Gearing. I think they were the top ones while I was there... In the last 52 there were a couple of really nice ones too which I think could've rivaled those birds. Its great watching people with way more money than me going bid for bid over a bird. It's also interesting to see how the different varieties go for different prices...
  17. Well I'm back from the big day out at Geelong, had a great time... Spoke for a minute or two with PT. I had to leave with 52 birds still waiting to be Auctioned but had a great day none the less.
  18. You don't take your own cages to Nationals??? Show's how much I know when it comes to showing
  19. Rant away Nubbly, its obviously something you feel strongly about
  20. SWEET!!!! They look awesome Daz!! Do you sell them at nationals?
  21. Couldn't bring the camera, flat battery, some great birds here though. Looking forward to see some highprices... Quote of the day so far, "don't be embarressed if youre a black eyed breeder" great auctioneering PT
  22. I get to go!!! I didn't think I would be able to, not gonna get any birds just going to check out the quality. Taking my son with me too which should be an experience (trying to get him into them so that he can convince his mum that they are cool and I can have whatever I want when this house is finally built!!!)
  23. Dunno if Warragul got the same torrential downpour as Melbourne did... if it did I feel sorry for those show operators, they had to shut down Moomba for the night it was so bad.
