I agree with Jimmybanks, we have bought and sold 3 houses and i would recommended getting a building inspection and pest inspection done on whatever house you look at, it is well worth the money.
  2. That is great to hear that there are some pet shop owners that care about the animals.
  3. You have very cute babies, Liv. It is a shame about the one with splayed legs, i hope the chick does improve for you.
  4. why is that whenever you turn your back on your kids they have to get into something? I have just been outside getting washing off the line and came inside to hear screaming and laughing, Jadon and Lucy my 5 and 3 year old decided to move the tap out from the laundry tub and turn it on, needless to say my floor is flooded. They looked at me with innocent eyes and told me they wanted a indoor pool.Lucky i have a drain in the middle of the floor so i am watching the water slowly drain away and then i have the fun job of cleaning the rest up. Thought i would share to give everyone a laugh for the day.

Put the seed on your hand too Deb I have tried that before and she justs takes the seed of my hand and throws on the floor.

I have tried again a few times this morning and she has decided it is more fun to sit on my hand and watch me peck seed then eat it. I kept taking her off my hand and putting her near the seed and she kept climbing back on my hand.

I am getting some budgies from Dave on Saturday so i have got a few cages for quarantining but i have one cage that is a large one. It is 90cm high,75cm wide and 44cm deep, how many budgies could i comfortably house in a cage that size for a month?

Thanks Elly that is really great advice. i tried it this morning, i scattered seed in the bottom of her cage and started pecking at it, straight away she jumped off the perch and started eating. She did not eat much but she ate some which is a start. I will do it a few times a day. Thank you so much for your help Elly.
  10. If they do stop making the old style bulbs you could always use a low wattage heat globe that they use in reptile enclosures.
  11. They are not cracked but i have sand in the base. They only started doing it after i put the sand in.
  12. Glad to hear that Jake is home and i hope he does not have any more meetings with a snake.
  13. My budgies are acting weird but also i think it is funny. Over the last month every few days i find a egg on the floor of my aviary with the older budgies in it and i am fairly sure i know which hen is doing it. Yesterday i went to the younger budgie aviary and i found one on the floor of that aviary. The thing is the eggs are always in the middle of the aviary where there are no perches, it looks like they are dropping them as they fly.

Roxy has decided to stop eating seed or vegies during the day and holds out at night for the mashed egg with the rearing food mixed into it. I have thought seeing she likes the egg and her rearing food i would try giving her soaked seed with the rearing food mixed into it and mashed egg with grated vegies mixed in. I hope that when she is picking the rearing food out she will get some seed as well and the same with the egg, hopefuly she will eat some vegies while she eats the egg. I tried it today and she ate the rearing food and left the seed behind but did not touch the egg and vegie at all. I hope it will eventually work and she will learn to not be so fussy.
  15. Not all handraised babies turn out good pets, i have another budgie i handraised last year that once she learnt to fly she stopped being friendly and started biting so i had to put her back in the aviary.
  16. One of her claws was bleeding lots but i cleaned it and used lots of cornflour and it has stopped bleeding so i have put her by herself to give it a chance to heal.
  17. I am lucky that they have not pick up that trait from their mum but Laverne has her mums personality. She went into a hospital cage today, she started a fight with a older hen and did not win but she will recover.
  18. That is a great picture, she is a very messy eater.
  19. You do not need to handraise a budgie to make it tame. I woud just handle the baby in the nest every day so it gets used to be handled and wait till it fledges before seperating it from its parents. I have had to handraised one of my budgies and now i am having problems with her not eating seed because she had no parent to teach her which is causing her to not have a good diet at the moment. I would encourage you to let the parent raise the young, but this is just my personal opinion.
  20. Very beautiful budgies Dave, i am very happy with the trade. I will see you saturday then.
  21. It sound like you are going to very busy, do you put all the different babies in the brooder together.
  22. congratulations on the baby hatching.
  23. i am so sorry to hear about Jake and all the other issues you are dealing with. I hope you find somewhere nice and safe to live so the kids can have the freedom to run around outside.
  24. He has air in his crop and if you search the forum there should be info somewhere i how to remove it. i am not sure of the exact method but you have to gently push the air out. If you do a search for air in crop you should find some help.
  25. M older 2 kids are at that school and Jadon only talks about going to big school with them. My older 2 would not want to change schools and Jadon would not want to go to any other school so when he does start there i am going to try to make sure he gets the support that he is supposed to have.
