i just had to post some more photos of her because the photos i took inside did not show her true colours . We had a beautiful morning today so i had her out in the sun. The after preening look. All the sun made her sleepy.
  2. The most important thing i learnt when i joined was handrearing a budgie which help me to save 5 budgies. I also learnt about quarantining and that there was more to a birds diet than seed from this forum.

It is probably a good thing then that i have padlocks on my avairies. i ask Jenene about the parents and the father looks the same as Lady but she is not sure what he is and the mother is a normal blue .

I still struggle to tell the difference. i did not ask Jenene, i thought she was recessive because her markings on her chest are patchy but she does have a big patch on the back of her head.

I think hubby has realised there is no stopping my budgie addiction so he might as well support me. On Saturday he drove me to Jenene's place which is a 3 hour drive to get there and home again, to buy a cute recessive pied budgie. He keep complaining that i hope she is worth all the petrol money but he still took me. My 4 year old wanted to name her so she is called Lady. She is still very quiet and sleepy from the long car trip and new house but she is eating well. she is very tame and does step up already so thank you Jenene for taming her.

i did not realise you could eat quail eggs, my kids would love to eat a tiny egg.

Thanks Libby, i will just toss the egg then seeing it would not be fertile. The problem is the kids saw the egg and thought it was cute so they want me to get a male now.

I found a quail egg in the bottom of my aviary but i only have females so i did some googling to find info on whether they lay eggs without a male present but could not find the answer . Does anyone know if they do or dont. Maybe one of my females is not a female. None of them have bibs.

  19. I had awful pregnancies. I hope that if you decided to have another one that it all goes well for you and you have a problem free pregnancy.
  20. I have 4 kids MB and i will tell you the more kids you have the more hectic your life gets. The hardest thing i find is making time for them individually so they do not feel that you love one more than the other. Going out is hard when you are trying to keep a eye on where they all are. Sometimes things do not always go right, my 3 baby was my hardest and never slept and is still a handful. But even with the hassles that come with more than 2 children the joy and love that they give to them is worth it. Only you know if you can handle more kids. If it is something you really want them you will find the strength to do it.

  24. You were right Dave, they are both boys. I am in the progress of purchasing a cute baby recessive pied hen that looks similar to the boys.
  25. So sorry to hear that you had to make this hard decision but the chick is at peace now. Big Hugs Kaz. I know that even though you know you are doing the right thing it still is very sad.
