I did not get any blisters, just heaps of scratches all over my arms and hands from the weld mesh, the edges of that stuff is sharp.

The last couple of days i have been working on my avairy, got tired of waiting for hubby to finish it so decided to tried to do it myself. I am not handy with tools like most of the girls here so i used hand tools to do all the work. i got the wire on 2 sides and the door finished, only one side left to finish so hopefully it will not be long till some of the budgies move into it.

I am so excited as well, Maesie will be staying with me for a week so i am planning lots of fun things for her. My hubby has got a friend who is a abseiling instructor and he is going to take Maesie rock climbing. We also have plans to go 4wding in the sand dunes on Stockton beach. The chook pen is 3 metres from the aviary, how would i know if the chooks have mites, their beaks look fine.You have a good memory Norm to remember i have chooks, there are so many members here i am not keep trait of what other pets besides budgies people have.

You need chickens Neat, I get fresh eggs every morning and nothing nicer than going and getting a warm egg from under a hen and then cooking it for breaky.

Thanks Neat, i have been thinking today that i should change the soft mix to a mashed egg with veggies mixed in but i have never given eggs to my budgies so how do i make it up. do they eat the yolk and white. i have tried giving her veggies but she just throws them out of the container and then sits in the container.

I am no sure what i will be like when the kids Neat start to leave home but i have 4 so it will be a long time before they are all gone. Roxy is eating seed on her own but i am concerned that she does not eat alot of it and wondering should i stop giving her soft mix which i give to her in a container that she feeds herself.

i only left them for 1/2 hour because i felt sorry for Tweety. Everytime he tried to get on a perch Runt would fly at him and knock him back to the floor. I am also worried that it will change Tweety and Runt if i seperate them, when Roxy is not with them they are great together, they both talk and sit in the cage and say hello to each other. I also know i need to do what is best for Roxy but i am worried that if i put her with another bird than i would lose the bond that we have. Tonight when they were out for free play together Roxy was following Runt every where and even letting him feed her and preen her. I know it sounds really stupid but i felt sad that she would rather be with Runt then me.

I need some advice. Even though Roxy is eating seed it never seems to look like their is food in her crop so at night i have still been giving her soft food and she really goes for it when i give it to her and eats heaps of it. What i am wondering is should i stop offering it to her and hope she eats enough seed . i do not want her loosing weight from not eating enough.

i am so sorry to hear that Maesie had to pull out, hope she feels better soon. Migranes are really annoying. i would not mind joining in the treasure hunt but i do not have half of those items in my house. Hope you have heaps of fun Neat and Liv.

i tried putting her in the same cage as the boys and it did not work. Runt really likes her and keep chasing her and trying to feed her. she was not happy about it and was getting cranky. she was too busy running away from him to eat. Tweety had to sit on the bottom of the cage the whole time Roxy was there because Runt keep attacking him any time he went near Roxy.

Roxy is eating seed and her millet spray. i am very excited, she is 10 weeks old and i have finally weaned her on to seed.

Thanks for your opinion, i wanted to know incase Jack developed another cyst but if you are saying that feather cysts if they are hereditary keep occuring then Jack's cyst was probably caused by the injury.He is 7 years old and this is the first cyst he has had.

If feather cysts are caught in the early stages how do you treat them or are they something only a vet can treat?

I am so sorry for your loss AV, i hope you can work things out.

My problem was i had already cleaned it and the chook pen early this morning so i after you guys confirmed it was scaly face i had to go and do it again.

I have had a busy morning, i caught all the birds and put them in small cages. I removed all the food and water containers from the aviary and spray the aviary and perches with mite spray. would i still need to change the perches? I have treated the birds that have scaly face with baby oil and when i get some ivermectin i will do the rest of the budgies.
