New Aviary Finally Started.
Got another picture this morning, the rest of the avairy is going to be wire. Breeding room is on the right and aviary on the left. Hubby decided make the roof overhang to give the birds some more protection from the wind and rain.

New Aviary Finally Started.
i finally got some more materials for my avairy and have started working on it again. I could not afford the laserlite so i am gone with a full tin roof. Got the tin on the roof and the walls today so hopefully tomorrow i can get some more wire on. It was too dark when we finished to take pics but while we were working Lucy decided that it was not going to be a aviary but her princess house.

Everyday Time Savers!
I agreed with AV in that it is too hard to try to clean the house in one day, i do a certain job each day of the week. i have 4 kids so i started my day at 6:30am with washing and making school lunches. Once the oldest 2 are at school i get the younger 2 set up playing and then i do the rounds of the animals and then start on house work. I have been a stay at home mum now for 13 years so i have a good routine worked out. I have a slow cooker which i love and saves me rushing around at night doing baths and helping with homework while trying to cook tea. I find that with some clothes if you put them in the dryer for a few minutes after washing they do not need ironing. I clean the shower while i am in it, saves me getting wet clothes and saves time. I make my kids clean their rooms at night before going to bed because then it is easier for me to clean the room the next day and avoids a build up of clutter. They are just a few things i do so at least i can get some me time during the day.

Blow It!
I do not blow the seed off at all, my budgies get fresh seed every morning and in the afternoon i give the containers a shake and i find the fresh seed comes to the top and the husks go to the bottom.

Keeping Other Birds Away From Your Aviary
That is a good idea, i am due for a trip to bunnings. i would love to find a way to get rid of them all together because i use to have native birds like rosella and parrots in my yard but the miners have chase them away.

Keeping Other Birds Away From Your Aviary
I am having a problem with miner birds flying around the aviary and upsetting the budgies. I have a full tin roof but they have taken to sitting on the roof and flying across the wire at the front.Does anyone have any ideas of how you can deter other birds from hanging around or it is something you just have to put up with?

Show Us Your Kids :)
Your two boys are really cute MB. Instead of me posting 4 pics i decided to find one of all my kids together and it was hard to find a nice one because trying to get a picture of 4 kids togther happy at the same time is hard. I did manage to find one. These are my kids, Shaul, Petra, Jadon and Lucy. Shaul just turn 13 last Monday, i have a teenager now so i suddenly feel old.

Roxy Will Not Eat Seed
I have a couple i could trust but Roxy would be the one i would not be sure if i trust, she is a very bossy hen and is starting to even get grumpy at me if i touch her when she does not want to be touched. Maybe another budgie in the cage could both show her how to eat seed and show her there is a pecking order to budgies and that she, too, is a budgie Tweety and Runt's cage is a big flight cage so i have thought about putting her with them so she can learn to be a budgie but how would 2 boys and one girl go in a cage together, Runt has taken a liking to her and when they are out for playtime he will not let Tweety go anywhere near Roxy.

Roxy Will Not Eat Seed
Yes, she can see the others birds from her cage and watches them eating and she also during free time will fly into their cage and sit next to the others while they eat but does not touch their feed. Runt has taken a liking to her and tries to feed her but she bites him. She will happily regurgitate her seed on me when she is sitting on my shoulder and talking to me.I thought it was only a male behaviour.

Roxy Will Not Eat Seed
Thanks Libby, she is a very stubborn little girl who will just not eat if she does not like what i give her so hopefullly she will take to seed or else she will end up costing me more money to feed the the other birds but she is worth the money.

Roxy Will Not Eat Seed
I am finding it hard to get Roxy to start eating seed. When i weaned her i gave her a young bird rearing food that i added water to as well as millet sprays. I also have a seed dispenser with seed in it, i had her seed in a container but she used to scratch it all out and sit in the container so i bought her a container that she could not scratch the seed out of. She does not touch the seed at all and occasionally eats the millet spray. I have seed sprinkled on the floor of the cage but she only peeks at it occasionally as well. She loves her rearing food so i have been mixing seed with it but she picks the wet soft mixture out and leaves the seed behind. I have tried soaked seed and she will not touch it. On the packet of mixture it says you can give it to them dry so i tried that way with seed mixed in and she would not eat it at all. Yesterday i gave her only seed to see if there was no soft mixture she would eat it but by the afternoon she had not eaten at all so i gave her mixture back and she went for it straight away. She does not eat vegies either, all she wants to eat is the rearing mixture when i have made it with water. I have tried putting more seed than rearing food when i make it up but she still leaves the seed behind. I know that she is definitly not eating seed because there is never any husks in the containers. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated to help me to get her to eat seed.
