She is going better tonight, i heard this chirping noise from her cage when i was having tea and went to check her and she was eating her young rearing food and the food was cold. she has never eaten cold mix before so it was a good sign. She has gone to bed tonight with a very full crop. I got some great advice from Libby who said it is normal when they are weaning to go through a stage when they reject their food so Roxy is doing the normal things for her age which is good to know.

It is a great feeling and she is so tame which i love. Tweety and Runt my other 2 inside budgies will sit on my shoulder and talk to me but do not like being touch. Roxy just loves her neck being scratched and at night time will go and play with the other budgies for a while but then when she is tired she comes to me and climbs up to my chest and lays down, puts her head on the side waiting for me to scratch her and will fall asleep with me rubbing the side of her neck. It has made all the work and tears when i thought she was not going to make it so worthwhile.

i do not have breadcrumbs either, i have a dish with fresh vegies in her cage, a dish with soaked seed, a dish with young bird rearing food in it and i have seed scattered on the floor of the cage and normally she will pick food out of the different containers not the seed as much as the others but today she is not touching them at all. i pick up her and hold the containers for her but she will not eat.she still has food in her crop from the little bit of formula i gave her but i have noticed today she looks like she has lost weight but i know that can be normal when they start weaning but if i cannot get her to eat then she will lose more weight.

i do not have any wholegrain bread, only wholemeal. I am finding it hard to get her eat seed.

Roxy tried to fly today for the first time and i caught it on the camera which was so cute. In the eating area i am having problems trying to get her to eat, i ran out of egg and biscuit mix so i bought her young bird rearing food because i thought that would be better for her and she ate it for the last 2 days but today has decided she will not eat it. i made up the handraising formula that she used to eat because her crop is empty and i could only get her to eat a little bit of it. I tried a spoon and syringe and got more food on her then in her mouth.

It was so unexpected, i did not realise she could fly. She has been sitting in her cage and flapping the wings for the last couple of day but was not getting anywhere. I think she suprised herself as well, when she landed on the floor she gave me this look of what just happened.

i went to take a photo of Roxy this morning because i have moved her to the loungeroom into a bigger cage and when i went to take the picture she flew out of the cage to me. Yeah, my little girl flew today for the first time, it was not far and landed with a splat but i ended up with a weird looking picture of her trying to fly.

I am getting a central bearded dragon for my son for his birthday next month and there is no way i will be touching it. It will be living in his bedroom and he and my hubby will be taking care of it.

It talks about in the fAQ section about household hazards and lists incense, popourri and scented candles to be harmful fumes for budgies so i would say that burning oils would be harmful as well.

i think he properly needs more sleep, my budgies are night owls they usually get put back in their cages at 9.30pm but then when my daughter gets up at 6.30am she turns on the telly which wakes them up.

thanks for everyone helps especially Neat who gave me a link to a great website. I found a brand new enclosure for a good price and i pick it up an Saturday, now have to start looking for lizard.

my daughter is not blonde so i cannot use that one. i had a interesting night with the budgies trying to work out what is going on. i started with Runt out by himself in a seperate room with me and we had a nice time talking and getting kissed. Then i took him to the loungeroom and let the 3 out together and Roxy for the frist time left me and went to playing on the floor following Tweety and Runt around it was so cute until Runt decided he wanted roxy all to himself and whenever Tweety try to join them he would attack him so Tweety would fly away and Runt would fly after him and knock him out of the air.Then Runt would go back to talk to Roxy. I do not think Runt is jealous of Roxy. I cannot work out how to get 3 birds to get along, I ended up clipping Runt's wings last night because when it is time to put them back in their cage it took me 15 mins to catch him. Now Tweety will be able to get away from Runt's bullying. I really have to work out a way to stop the fighting or else my hubby says he will put roxy in the aviary as soon as she fledges.

Roxy is okay so the fresh air did not hurt her but it must be a girl thing Elly. My son is really responsible and great with the budgies where as my daughter i tell her constantly to ask but she says she forgets. I have had her let the birds out of the cage with the cats in the house.

Thanks Pie, i have been in touch already with the guy from parkers and he has been sick and is not taking any new orders for a couple of weeks. I am a member of the snake forum and have been checking them out but there is none for sale in my area.
