  1. I have tried that $21 a week challenge and i have a family of 6 with one in nappies and another one in nappies at night still so i spend $30 a week on just nappies so it does not work for big families. I do shop late at night because like Av has said you get things markdown. I buy things like washing powder and toilet rolls in bulk because it is cheaper. If products are on sale i stock up on them.( coles have nappies on sale this week so i bought 6 big bags and i also got 500 bonus flybuy points for every 2 bags which was good) I love op shopping and freecycle. I get fruit and vegies from the market I have found shopping at Aldi saves money.

  6. Thanks for voting for Roxy.It is great that Roxy won, she is a very special girl to me. As most people know she had to be handraised by me because i found her in the nestbox when she was 2 weeks old in a bad way. She was not even strong enough to call out for food and she was having problems breathing and could not hold herself up at all. By a great miracle she pulled through and will always hold a special place in my heart. Roxy is 8 weeks old today and has become very close to me but also loves playing with the other budgies.

  8. My problem is i do not drive so whenever i need to go to the petshops i need hubby to take me. A little bit hard to slip a budgie passed him when he is with me.
  9. Thanks, now i need to convince hubby that i need to go budgie shopping.
  10. I have a male green opaline spangle show budgie that i am wanting to breed with this summer so i am started to look for a hen but i would like some advice on the best hen for him. I am wondering would he be best with a normal or a spangle. I want green babies so i am going to look for another green. I am still trying to grasp the genetics but with him being opaline would all the hens be opaline no matter what i pair him with or all just carrying the opaline gene.

She is very pretty, the girl is going to be so excited.
  12. It sounds similar to the condition that Roxy was in and i though the parents fighting in the nestbox had caused it. i had to remove her because she was not being fed and was having breathing problems as well. She improve within a couple of weeks and has no problems now with perching or movement at all. I hope she pulls through for you.

The Americans were all from Colorado, one of the Americans took a liking to Roxy and he had her on his shoulder and she was giving him kisses. I had to check his shoulder before he left just to make sure he did not pinch her. My mother in law has a habit of always saying the wrong thing so she made a comment to the Canadian about being the 51st state, he was a really nice guy so he did not get upset which was good. It is interesting that it is people in IT that meet together internationally. I had a fabulous night and even manage to get my 2 youngest into bed at their normal time. Both their bedrooms come of the dining room so they went to sleep even with 10 adults talking in the room next to them.

My husband,s company he works for has offices all around the world and for the last week they have had IT people from the other offices here in Australia for meetings. Tonight i will be having them at my place for dinner, there will be 4 Americans, a Canadian and one from England. My inlaws are also coming for dinner as well so it is going to be a interesting night. I am going to cheat and buy chinese takeaway for tea and they have been at the Hunter Valley winetasting for the day so there will be plenty of new wine being sample as well tonight. My kids are saying it is going to be interesting for them listening to all the different accents and hoping they understand them.
  17. My fav cup is one my hubby got for me when he was overseas. I am a coffee addict so it is a twice the size of a normal mug.

I might do that Liv, my hubby said i cannot put wood onto of the fridge because it would overheat from the hot air from the back of the fridge not being able to escape.
  20. That is great that he is happy again. Sorry but going to go off topic but can budgies bleed when they are moulting. I am wondering what you mean by his whole head being red.

My other 2 housebirds have their wings clipped but Roxy is only 7 weeks old and still learning the art of flying and i do not like to clip their wings until they have learnt to fly properly.

I had a awful experience with Roxy tonight. I have a open plan house so when she is out for free fly time she usually flies all around the house and i try to keep a eye on where she is. She decided to go into the kitchen and when i went to find her it took me a while to find her. She somehow went down the side of the fridge and got herself wedged between the fridge and wall. It was so upsetting. I could not move the fridge because i was worried i would squash her and the gap is too small for my hand to fit. My hubby got the feather duster because it was soft and we had to gentle pull her out hoping we would not hurt her. We got her out and she is fine but it scared me heaps and now i am thinking i should clip her wings to keep her safe.
