  1. Sandy is home now, it is very cute for a lizard. It is only 2 months old. We got told that you cannot tell what sex they are till they are a adult so it will be a "it" for awhile. Here is a picture of my son holding it.
  2. My son wanted a pet snake but we compromised and i told him it was either a lizard or no reptile.
  3. My hubby is taking Shaul my eldest son to buy his first pet today. He has wanted a pet lizard since he was 10 years old but my kids are not allowed to own their own pets till they are in high school and have showed me that they are responsible enough to look after a pet by helping look after the budgies and are able to save their pocket money to feed their pet. Shaul was very good with helping me when i was handrearing Roxy and he even cleans the cat litter tray so he is finally able to own a pet. He is getting a baby central bearded dragon, he is very excited. i am not keen on reptiles so it wll be living in his room where i do not have to see it much. I will post photos when he gets it.

I was wondering because it is her first moult and she is only just starting to eat properly should i get her some moulting aid?

Roxy is finally going through her first moult, she looks so cute with all her pin feathers . she even has them in her cheek spots. I have only had male inside budgies who get a little moody when they are moulting but hens are definitly alot more cranky when moulting. Roxy is funny though she chirps cranky at me when i put my hand near her and tries to bite but just nibbles gentle on my hand. i do not think she has any idea how to bite.

I got to the nursery today and bought heaps of plants, got a little carried away. I got a red flowering gum, a couple of hibicus,a lilly pilly, a few native shrubs and some kangaroo paws. Now i will be waiting impatiently for them to grow quickly. I have a couple of smaller garden beds that i have decided to plant some native grasses in.
  7. That is very exciting Liv, hope you have a great holiday.
  8. It is good that the beak has improved , i hope you have success with the feet as well.
  9. Thanks for the explanation, it was just all one colour when he was younger so i was just wondering what it meant with it changing.
  10. A few months ago i had a topic discussing my spangle that was born with plum eyes, it had a light blue suffusion on its chest and i was told it was common for df spangles to have a light suffusion. Now he is just finishing his first moult and the blue is fading in areas and he is looking like a pied now. could he be a pied then or a badly marked spangle?
  11. That is great news, even though she is not a perfect crested you still got one crested baby from your first breeding.

Thanks for the names of some grasses, i am planning on planting some and kangaroo paws, the kangaroo paws i am getting because i like them. The trees are the hardest bit for me to work out which ones to plant because i want a couple that will grow to at least 4 metres.

Thanks MB i did not think about the berries falling off, my kids would have fun treading on them and making a mess. i made the mistake when i first built a sandpit for my kids, i set it up under the bottlebrush tree i have and i had to move it. i already have 2 bottlebrushes and i am planting a another one so i am looking for a different type of native which the birds will like but will also provide shade in the back yard for the kids. i have 3 greviallas in my front yard so i do not want another grevialla.

Now my garden is nearly ready for replanting i am starting to think more about what i will put in. I am thinking of planting a Lilly Pilly because i am after a big shady tree to cover the kids swing set, do budgies like to eat the branches and berries on this tree, it is a native so i assume it would be safe?
  15. I hope with all the effort that you are going to that you get some great results.
  16. They are so cute, it looks like some are going to be similar colours, it will be fun telling them apart.

I was able to do some more work in my garden today before it started raining. i am so eager to get the plants out so i can start replanting. I finally got the stump out and some over plants so now i just have to get the crype mytrle stump out and some more ground covers. i released i have maidenhair ferns growing in my garden, are they safe for budgies to eat and would they like them? Another stump out How the garden is progressing.
  18. Her rings have always been big and she amazed me by getting them when she was only 2 1/2 months old, i found a photo of when she first got them. i did not think they developed them till 6 months.
  19. It is funny because she has a container of water and never goes in it but give her wet vegies and she tries to bath in it. I took a photo of her dry Trish but she is just starting to moult so she is very scruffy looking. she is skyblue but the flash changes the colour and it is cloudy today so i cannot take any photos in the sun.
  20. I normally cut Roxy's vegies up for her in to small pieces but yesterday i gave her a wet spinach leaf and she had more fun playing with it then eating it.
  21. They are growing up fast and they are so cute.

Can they stay there ? The 2 old stumps were half rotted so i have just mananged to get them out. I am wanted to put new trees in and the another stump is about 40cms wide so it take up a fair bit of room in the garden. I thought about planted trees either side of the stump but then there would be not much room for the new roots to grow.

I got back in the garden today and after a hour of digging around the stump i can still not get it out. It seems to have a long tap root because i have dug down a long way and the stupid thing will still not move. I decided to have a break from digging and pull the ground covers up but then i found something i did not want to see, 2 old tree stumps which i will have to dig up as well, looks like this project is not as easy as i thought it would be. :happy-dancing:
  24. I hope the spangle does improve for you, he is a nice looking bird. I know what those little feathers are like, my back area is covered with them.
  25. They are so cute and there is so many.
