I have a budgie that has a swollen stomach, she only got moved out of quarantine last week and she was fine then so it has occured slowly in the last week. i thought she was getting fat but after having a close look she seems to have large mass on her. It feels soft like it is full of fluid. she is not showing any other signs, no pooey bottom, eating well. She is booked in to see the vet tomorrow but does anyone have any idea of what it could be and should i seperate her?

i have wonder that one as well, my big cage that the boys are in is next to a wall and i am always wiping poo of the wall.

i am lucky then that she has not tried that one, she likes to bath in the vegies before she tosses them. I gave her alfalfa sprouts yesterday and by the time she had finished playing she was wet with all these sprouts stuck to her feathers. You must get a photo of that!!! :laughter: At least she's paying attention to them... and with all that playing, you'd assume she'd eat SOME of it! i was going to take a picture but the camera battery was flat. She loves eating her vegies but has to play with them as well.

That is a interesting article but i have a budgie who had a feather cyst and he lost all his primary feathers when it burst but his feathers are growing back now where as in the article it states " it must be borne in mind that the birds will never regrow the feathers ". Could it matter how the cyst occurred then to the possibility of regrowth?

i used to have it that way but she started ripping up the paper and i was not sure if it was good for her to chew the paper.

Roxy is always taking the vegies out of her dishes and dropping through the grates on the cage.Then she tries to eat the food from under the grate. i am forever putting them back in her bowl. I have newspaper under the grate but it does not stop the food from going though. Does anyone elses budgie do this and any suggestions on how to stop her?

I have no idea of its name so if your hubbys knows that would be nice. My hubby would love to get rid of it but i love it especially when it is in flower. We bought our house 8 years ago and it was here then so i have no idea how old it would be and it was only as tall as the carport roof so it has grow heaps in the last few years.

I used to have guinea pigs in the bottom of my aviary and at one stage i had 8 and there was never any problems with them and the budgies.

I have this huge cactus in my backyard that for most of the year is very dull but once a year for a few weeks it puts on a beautiful display of flowers.

I have done some christmas shopping. i have 2 boys who are 13 and 5 and 2 girls who are 10 and 3. my hardest to buy for his my eldest son, he spends alot of time on his computer and complains about some of is games not working properly so we have bought him a new hard drive ( i know weird present) and a mp3 player. My 10 year old is obsessed with Hannah Montanna so i got her a HM playstation game, HM dvd and also a password journel. I have not got much for the younger ones yet, i few little toys for their stockings but still got to get their main present. My 3 year old got a barbie doll house for her bday this year so i am going to get her more furniture for the house. i am not sure what to get my 5 year old yet.

I also have 2 inside cats but so i can spend time with the budgies i have a nightly routine . At 7.30pm when my 2 youngest children are put to bed the cats are put out in my screen back room and the budgies and my sons baby lizard are let out for free playtime. Then at 9pm the budgies go back to their cages and the cats are allowed back in the house.

Roxy was in a good mood tonight and was wanted to spend time with me so i took lots of photos of her. She is still moulting so does not look the best. Enjoying her neck scratch Loves her millet She cannot get enough of the snow pea sprouts, she loves them. Hanging with the boys

That is really a great achievement MB, as a mum of 4 i understand the battle with getting kids to eat the right food. i still can not get my 5 year old to eat vegies or salad which means my 3 year old thinks that she does not have to eat them either.

She sounds so cute, i think it is sometimes their personality that makes them loopy. I had one baby doing it in her quarantine cage and she is in the aviary and still does it. i often finding her hanging in silly postions from the perches and she loves chasing my quails.
