Yes GB 1 entry per person and with the unbroken cap one it is any variety, colour and sex. Yes I entered that DVD one but silly me entered the sky and he wouldn't have a chance against their adults. but they did put him up though. Haven't being judged yet. I entered in Novice because I think that is what Intermediate is here. They have Champion... Intermediate... Novice... Beginner and junior
  7. It is for unbroken caps GB, yes I will ask all them if they will.
  8. Yes there will be colour and variety shows for adults, birds any age and unbroken caps and male and female. Old photos will be fine this comp Cory. Well if we don't get many entries in this one by Saturday the 10th Dec we close this one and start a new one.. On ya Gb you have to be in it to win it, I can't even enter because I am the judge.
  9. This show is for any colour and any variety baby budgerigars that still has it's bars. You need to write your entry and NO for example Entry No 1 Good luck all. entries close Sat. 10th Dec

okay This might be the wrong section but it is a show. I have been thinking for a while now that this Forum is getting boring, so I thought I would try and put a bit of a spark back into it. I hope you moderators don't mind. there will be 2 shows running at once on different post to suit us all hopefully. the shows will be colour and variety series for exhibition type birds and they will run weekly for the year. And cutest colour and variety series for pet types. There will be a judge judging the birds each week and that judge can not enter their birds if they are judging . There will be points for the winners right down to the last bird, so if there are 20 birds in the class the winner wins 20 points and the second bird gets 19 points and the bird that comes 20th gets 1 point. There will be a score ladder after each show and at the end of show season the winner will have on there page a certificate saying the won for the year. Now for the exhibition show, you will be judged the same as if you were at a show, so eye for detail is everything , birds will be judged on their spots, condition, length, shoulder, directional feather etc. Photos can be from the perch up in a show cage or photo cage. (no photos of birds sitting on the floor. Front on photos will be better so we can see if they have shoulder and width of face etc. But you can have them side way if you wish. We just assume they have a tail etc, anyway it is all just a bit of fun. example Photos can be like this also In the next photo the bird is not spotted so I would loose points on that but if it was not long before a show I would take the chance and not spot him because after all this online show is for fun. I will be calling for help with judging by experience breeders also so if anyone wants to judge please show your interest on this thread . You don't need to be a real judge but you do need some experience show budgerigars. And help with pet types would be great to, no experience need just an eye for a pretty bird. Judges will need to do a written comment on the winners, which helps us all learn. okay when you submit your entry please write Entry No 1 and the next person write entry no 2 and so. That goes for both shows. I hope I have explained everything right and you all understand. I will start up the 2 shows on different post shortly, these 2 shows will run from Tomorrow Friday 2nd Dec until Sat 10th because it is the first show. So please all get your entries in. Please make photos of good size, no tiny little pictures please. So you all better get ya cameras out and start practicing.
  12. He is different that my clearbodies but mine are opaline, I really don't know much about Fallows.
  13. Yes that would be great, is up to you, meaning you can do what you like but it is better to keep them pure. I have been breeding them for a couple of years now and i am having trouble with suffusion because so far I have put my clear body with a normal hen and this year I put his daughter with another clearbody and I have been told to put the with ino to improve the suffusion but then I find they go small, can't win.
  14. You are better off trying to keep texas clearbodies pure, and bredding then with inos (albino and lutinos) and good quality normals, because to have a cock you will get TCB hens when paired to a normal. Try and keep cinnamon out of them because it fades their beautiful colour. here is a table any way I hope this helps. TEXAS CLEARBODY, INO, MATING TABLE Clearbody Cock X Ino Hen = 50% Clearbody Split Ino Cocks 50% Clearbody Hens Ino Cock X Clearbody Hen = 50% Clearbody Split Ino Cocks 50% Ino Hens Clearbody Split Ino Cock X Clearbody Hen = 25% Clearbody Cocks 25% Clearbody Split Ino Cocks 25% Clearbody Hens 25% Ino Hens Clearbody Split Ino Cock X Ino Hen = 25% Clearbody Split Ino Cocks 25% Ino Cocks 25% Clearbody Hens 25% Ino Hens Clearbody Split Ino Cock X Normal Hen = 25% Normal Split Clearbody Cocks 25% Normal Split Ino Cocks 25% Clearbody Hens 25% Ino Hens Normal Split Clearbody Cock X Ino Hen = 25% Clearbody Split Ino Cocks 25% Normal Cocks 25% Clearbody Hens 25% Normal Hens Normal Split Ino Cock X Clearbody Hen = 25% Clearbody Split Ino Cocks 25% Normal Split Clearbody Cocks 25% Ino Hens 25% Normal Hens

Very nice babies Dan, I did the same, put a lutino cock with an albino hen and got a lutino hen and she is quite nice too but my plan was to pair like that so I can put the lutino hen with my clear body next year and they will be both split blue.

I din't know her but have heard of her, sad loss when it comes to any one from the fancy.

Well Taz a bit the same here, I have a really nice light green and I think he will be a tailess wonder and most my dark greens seem the same and some have feather cyst also. I have a lutino hen still in the breeding cage with a feather cyst on he behind, I am putting it down to being feather plucked. But the dark greens weren't feather plucked. I also have a stunning grey spangle , son of my white boy who is now dead and he has a feather cyst too. I don't know what is going on either. Anyway I am just hoping some of those ones that have lost their tail feathers grow them back , after all they are going through their first moult.

Yes I know Renee, I block the nest off until they lay an egg on the floor and then let her in, but I also I have to block the out in between eggs for a couple of hours in the morning , a lot of hard work but worth it, 2 out cows because when they do go in the nest box and lay the y won't even let me look, i get attacked every time OI have a look, like a bull charging. One particular hen was last years hen so I will try her again next year. I don't quit easly.
  19. splat replied to fordmob's post in a topic in General Discussions
I have had the same problem this year Dan, some of my hens that didn't lay were from the year before and I know they lay so I am keeping mine and trying again next year, because they are my top hens, even if I just get one chick it will be worth the hassle. My biggest problem this year is having hens go into the nest box and not come out again to be mated.
  20. splat replied to Kirboxx's post in a topic in Breeders Discussion
I assume you are colony breeding and I guess that is the problem with that sort of breeding, other birds can smash eggs and kill young. But saying that the 3 week old chick could of fell out of the box. Is there any bird in the aviary with blood on their mask or anything because that normally gives away the culprit. How many birds are in the aviary? If you are confident in hand rearing I would probably go for that option or you will just have to leave the chick there and see what happens.

That's what I was thinking because I have had it before from dom pieds
  22. splat replied to renee's post in a topic in Breeding Journals
Did you breed the parents yourself Renee because if you didn't they could be carrying the recessive gene.
  23. Gee I thought I would cop a lot of slack over saying the exhaust fume way but I haven't that's good. what so an old sock works too. I know how to feel the needle go down Renee but I don't know sometimes it doesn't work. I still crop needle after killing the white boy but I drowned him with to much fluid or he went into shock one or the other, it was probably the lemon juice that was in the water. I was crop needling the young hen that just died and I didn't kill her so I will continue but I still hate doing it.
  24. Thanks Dan, I think he will do well for me on the show bench, hope so anyway now that from January I will be in open. scary. Look forward to see your babies.
  25. I have use this method for a while now and it is much easier than others but I did have a set back on a chick this year, after doing this method I put it's lifeless body in the pin and a couple of hours later went to the bin and here was this chick sitting up looking at me, god I just felt terrible and had to grow through the whole ideal all over again. I was telling a fella breeder about it and they suggested another way that would be much easier for me and I am not personally suffocating them myself. Method.. small bucket like, or small container with a a tight fitting lid, cut a hole in the side or the lid to fit the exhaust pipe of your car, I know it sounds horrible but it is quick and easy. (I haven't tried it yet because I friend has offered me cloraform (how ever it is spelt). but it is dangerous even for me. any way put bird in bucket close lid and keep hole taped over until it is fitted to exhaust pipe and then fit to exhaust , turn car on and buy the time you turn the car on and walk back to the exhaust the bird is dead, peacefully. Many birds have died accidently from exhaust fumes when travelling. Now I know this sounds an awful way of doing it and I have not done it myself yet but it does sound a quick and easy way to do it. The easiest way I have found to kill a bird is crop needling, takes a second but by accident. I know, I have killed some of my best birds , I hate crop needling now totally, always scared I will kill them.
