  1. I just sprout my new seed from Max and it all sprouted , happy as ever, as for my bad seed I think it was more my fault than any ones because I bought to much at once and it took for ever to use, now I only buy 4 to 6 bags at a time. No problems at all now. Hey Chookie wish I had some birds to show Tuesday I would love some of your birds.
  2. You crack me up every time Dan
  3. Is that what we are going to do with my green bird Clearwing .
  4. But he has NO ring Renee, can't show a bird with NO ring
  5. I am in the same boat as you , I did ring my dark green but his leg swelled up so had to cut his ring off at 4 weeks and boy his he a nice bird. It's a shame because I can't show him now and he is as good as the 2 I won the shields with , well almost. Not as long as the blue though but he is going to be handy with a or not.
  6. I am differently not moving over lol seed is to expensive. Actually on noticed on facebook last night that budgie smuggler group from Geelong put a post up for Golden Cob seed. 20 kilo I think $46.00. wow that's expensive. I use to use golden cob when I first started and I love that seed but it went from I think around $22. 00 for 25 kilo to something like $31.00 for 20 kilo so I stopped buying it. And that's years ago when the seed staring going up because of the drought. You would think it would start coming down now taht we are getting plenty of rain but I bet it doesn't. When need we buy canary seed we buy it from Bryons seed in Numurkah by the kilo and it is I think a $1.60 a kilo, In Shepparton at Hunters the last we brought it from there by the kilo was $4.50 a kilo and it was as dirty as and filled with bits of dried grass ect. Leeton have it and vary reasonable price to but I don't use enough of it to buy a whole bag. I use to buy a whole bag but ended up throwing away because it got to old. I just don't know how they justify it all.
  7. I have to admit that the seed that I had that made my birds die did not sprout either, but I just tried to sprout the new stuff I have now and yes it is all looking great. I am planting this seed to grow my own millet ect. I do not give my birds soaked millet or canary of any type anymore. If I soak anything it is oats.
  8. okay Taz, I now get my seed through are club from Leeton. It is called Maxi Seed. With freight and a bit of money for fund raising in our small club we end up paying $25.00 for 20 kilo bag. Good seed in my opinion. You can get the normal mix or the Wato mix which has red millet in it . I think the seed is $21.00 a bag before freight and our fund raising etc. We are all happy to pay the extra. You can can canary, red millet, hulled oats , jap millet all seperate. I ran out of seed a couple of weeks ago and had to buy some from the produce store here. I bought avigrain breeders mix and it was $26.50 for $20. kilo but it has hardly any canary seed in it all , Greg had to go to Numurkah and buy me a couple of kilos of canary seed to mix through it. Howard Martin is what I use to use up until last year but it was cost me $75.00 a bag of 40 kilos some time it was cheaper and sometimes it was dearer but I was buying one bag every three weeks . The seed from Leeton is more reasonable in price.
  9. Have another go should get it on, I got on eon Geoff's birds and it was just as old it was a struggle but it went on, try some oil on the leg.
  10. Well I have been lucky because I know my violet greens dad who is violet is split cinn and op but every chick the violet has thrown is normal so far, so I am guessing he is not split for anything, YES. But I wouldn't care if he was anyway. Violet Green
  11. Thank you Taz my feet have hit earth now lol, and it's official start of 2012 I am in open, scary. As for my darks they are not going anywhere, they are all offspring to my gorgeous stunning violet green. I kicked myself the other week because we have this new beginner starting and I tried to help her out and parted with one of my best like greens.
  12. I am the opposite here, i have bred some nice light greens and dark greens, loving it. More dark greens than lights which is great.
  13. Thanks Daryl for the Victorian Shields a plug, gee I am getting a swelled head here No seriously I am really over the moon about my wins, never in my wildest dreams did I ever expect to win Best Bird In Show at any Victorian Shield or to get 2 first out of the only 2 birds I took. The only down side is I think I have the points to go into open now and that makes me very nervous. Pretty good though that I only spent not even one year in Intermediate and I have only shown at 3 shows all year. Riverina, Kyabram and the Unbroken Cap Shield. On another note... Still trying to get a photo of him for the budgie news. Leaving him alone today, Rod told me last night I have a few more days yet before the dead line, so that's good. Got to make the little fella happy. He was in the holding cage this morning blowing and showing off. So I think he just needs to settle for a couple of days and then he will be right again.
  14. Thanks Taboo I just hope I can breed more the same next year. Should be able to, I am putting the same pairs down again as long as I don't loose any adults.
  15. He is pure white GB , probably a bit hard for you. But I will send you one but problem is they are all small to post on here but I will see what I can do. Thank you Gb.
  16. Thanks Robyn. It was funny on Sunday, the friends I went down with were mucking around out the front of the building and congratulating me ask me to say a speech and there were other hobbyist listening and I said okay. I said well Thank you everyone one, I am over the moon with my wins I never expected my birds to get 1st place let alone Best bird in Show BUT guess what I have put the hard work in and the dedication and I believe I deserved these awards Especially after my rotten year I have had, loosing over ninety little chicks etc. Thank you again and laughed my head off.

Are you good at painting Flip When he was 4 months old, he won best beginner bird and almost got the diploma, so close. At Kyabram and best Beginner bird at Riverina the week later when he was 6 months old he came 3rd at the young bird shield and was selected as a reserve for the National team. The following year He came 3rd at the Adult Shield He won best Adult in Beginner at Albury, Riverina and Kyabram and Best adult bird in Show at Riverina And this year he won best Adult bird in Intermediate and Grand Champion Bird at Kyabram. Alan Rowe one of the judges said he had great showmanship.
  19. Thanks Dan but boy is is a hard bird to train in the cage, being trying to get a good photo for the Budgie News but he is so over the whole thing, he normally blows and shows off all the time but not since Sunday, I think he needs to be left alone for a few days.
  20. I have had the same, long like those and they have been fertile but seem to be dead in shell at hatching time. I have one at the moment fertile but hasn't hatched yet and I don't think it will.
  21. I love you photos too Neville , just lovely, I got loving feeling looking at them. magazine photos they are.

No I wouldn't like that and I am sure he wouldn't either. I have some lovely photos of him so I will print a nice one out and hang it on my birdroom wall. I am burying with a white plant that will be my rememberance of him. I was thinking if I can be bothered or even have the time I might paint a picture of him on the pot plant but at least I will write My White boy on there and his achievements. i think he deserves that. You know it's pretty awful that all my dead birds go in the bin but he is to special for that. Even the poor old wow bird was autopsied by Greg and binned. I was tempted to autopsy him to see what was going on but couldn't destroy his beautiful body.
  23. I was on the right track lol, about the only thing I said wrong was the yellow face but that could be my screen too. lol Got a blame something. I think I did fairly well considering I don't breed greywings at all. lol I actually thought I would embarrass myself so bad. lol But I shined lol. ha ha Just trying to cheer myself up.

That's lovely Flippy. But I only want a small plant that is easy to grow and look after. After all I don't won't the plant dieing too , that would be like killing him twice. I think you can get little bush roses or mini roses I think I am thinking about.
