Singles Thread
Lol Matt. Well done Dave, I need to do the weight watcher thing, I am not single but Greg told me my backside is as big as.... he aint't far wrong. I hate to look in the mirror also, so I think It is time for me to do something too , I actually made a NEWS thing LOOSE WEIGHT. haven't got around to it yet though lol But Dave I believe there is some one out there for everyone and I also believe that looks etc are skin deep. I prefer the person underneath . oh yeah and cuddly is good. lol I have found that pretty blondes or pretty girls are as dump as and so vain and men aren't much different. I had a friend that went out with a guy years ago and this guy spent 3 hours grooming his ugly face , unreal, that is meant to be what women do. what a put off. LOL He didn't look any better by the time he was finished but smelt nice lol.

Easing The Journey Home
Hello Freestylebudgie. I would really say that your last bird must have been ill to die within a day. Most people that buy a bird from a pet shop bring them home in shoe boxes and I must of admit that I have done that once or twice, the birds are vary harder. The only thing that would really do a budgie in on a trip is the heat, I would never travel a bird over 32 degrees.I would travel in the morning but not arvo unless you have air con in car. I think there is a heat clause out there and some one might be able say what it is. When you choose your bird check for wet vent or pooy vent. ask to feel the bird and see if the keel bone the the centre of the chest is really sharp. any of these things leave it there. Check to see if it is bright eyed and bushy tailed lol but you know what I mean. and make sure it looks active, if it looks fluffed up leave it there too. I hope this helps. When I buy any birds they just go in the carry cage with seed and brought straight home and put in a quanintene cage ( I can never spell that word) lol. They get fresh seed, millet spray and water and left to settle in .

January 2012 Budgie Of The Month
Put in your best entry for Budgie of the Month. Every one has until the end of each month (Aust time.. Sydney) to enter a picture. I have copied this from what Elly wrote, so it will be the same thing as before. Members vote at the beginning of the month to chose who will be the winner. One picture per member per month. Please remember to keep to the board rules of maximum, pictures should not exceed 480x640 AND links will not be accepted ONLY images. If this is not met then you picture will not be accepted (notification of non acceptance is not guaranteed). Any post you make to this thread will not show up so please do not repost. Do not post questions on this thread if you have a question you can either PM me or post in the Competition Area, thank you. Good luck to all that enter. Winners are recognized for the whole month and a Budgie of the Month Picture (example below) is added to their signature line and it is removed after the month is over and is added to the next winners signature line. Also note that all monthly winning pictures will be automatically added to the Budgie of the Year for 2012. Good Luck all

Look What Popped Out...
Yeah know what you mean, you put them in the aviary and forget about them and one day you are really focusing on what's in there and yep you see this bird just standing out from the crowd and you wonder, hmm where are you from you catch it up and check the ring number and go check and wow, that bird was going to be culled , and you say to yourself , gee glad I kept that bird. lol This has happened to me and that bird has gone on to win best young bird in beginner at one show the only show I showed him at that year and he was in the run for the Diploma , if only he had of stayed on the perch lol He did go to the young bird shield and came 10th but his suffusion let him down and the best adult bird in beginners the following year at the shows I showed him at and also opposite sex to Champ bird in show. So you can see how careful you need to be.

$15 Pet-Shop Bird
Yeah I am finding it hard this year trying to get seed as I only ended up with about 50 chicks and most of them are keepers. Hoping for a better result this year breeding because I don't mind breeding some ordinary birds so I can get my seed etc. I have inquires at the moment for birds but they want violets and so does everyone . lol

$15 Pet-Shop Bird
I actually sold a few last year, I mean 2010, they were babies and I thought they looked **** so I took the to the pet shop and got $8.00 each and any way a week or so later I had a couple of friends that chase my birds tell me that there was this bird in the pet shop with my ring on and their son said she had a great head and he was considering buying her, but bought a couple of the others because this hen was grey green cinnamon but they did say she was really a light colour so I do think he did buy her. But my point is I went in there to have a look and here was this stunning cinnamon grey green hen but I couldn't see the light colour they were talking about. But I asked the girl how much and she said they are green $10.00 so I snatched her back. She has turned out to be a stunner and bred me some lovely babies. Goes to show I cull to early.

Hi From Sunny Qld
Hi Ray, you dog is super and the budgies are gorgeous, like your cage too. About birds hanging themselves, if there is a bit of thread or a bit of wire they will find it and do tremendous damage. When we first did our aviary Greg left some of the wire with the spits sticking up and we came home and found a budgie hanging by her ring ring, she lost her foot in the end. And I had a bird get her ring caught in the breeding cage this year from where I cut the wire to hang the breeding box on her foot swiveled up and died. I actually haven't had one hang it's self but if I gave them the chance I am sure they would. babies are very inquisitive and seem to get in the most trouble.

Look What Popped Out...
Yes I know Geoff went crook at me because he saw him and thought he was a beauty and little did I know that he had lined a buyer (another breeder) for him but I had already culled him to the pet shop. But at the time the hen he was with is a beauty , heaps of directional feather , every thing. size, feather, width.

My Cute Little Budgie
What's she look like to you from your end, do you think she is violet. Because violet doesn't show up in photos very much but to me she looks to be a cobalt normal hen.
