  1. ha ha glad you have confidence in me because i don't. Just disappointing that the bird shows haven't taken off, I am thinking leaving them uptil next year maybe start them up in Feb March when the show season really star and that way the birds will be spotted etc what do you think. Judge the ones going now and then have the Christmas break. and Well guess what there is a new comp about to star and it is right up your ally Gb. lol
  2. There are some very nice babies there Gb, you must be stoked. As for the pied you got me they look normal don't they.
  3. Lol cool , I am very proud of my new position lol. so what do I do, can I run comps and promote this site somehow?
  4. Ask some one else about the damp because Geoff told me that. But I took his advice because I would hate to loose birds. Didn't you fix the damp problem, wasn't from the excess rain Hey I have an idea, you could do the aviary like mine, remember I divided it in sections, So the only place I have the lime is under the perch area. Well I paln on putting wire grids over that area. So if you went that way you could use your lime, or you could use the wood shavings but I found the wood shaving a pain they go everywhere. I will post some pics of my set up later
  5. Any garden lime, just NOT BUILDERS LIME. I can't think of the brands. you can get it from bunnings in different so bags a little bit goes a long way. I laid mine a few weeks ago and then had to take it up to treat them with sulpha what a pain. Hey you have to make sure it does not get wet because it holds moisture and could be dangerous if it gets wet, Geoff told me that, but it is good kills bacteria or what ever gets on the floor. Oh yeah about my birds , my heart sank to the bottom I swear when I saw them out, I still haven't done a count but the escape door was closed probably for a change so I am sure they are all there. Just worried about the spangle lol, the sky is out in a holding cage.
  6. This morning went out to do my normal check on my little feathered friends and got to the main aviary started to open the safety door with cuppa tea in hand and boy what I fright I got. , My babies where in the safety part, silly me forgot to bolt the door last night and I don't know if I left the door open a bit or the wind blew it or the birds did it but there were 20 babies in there. It took me a while to be able to get in without them flying out over my shoulder but I managed to put my cuppa down without Jake slurping it and put them back where they belonged. But all I can say thank god for safety doors and thankfully I had closed that well too because sometimes it sits funny and a bird could squeeze through. My winning spangle was out too, just horror it was. What was on my mind the most was did I clean up the mice bait, which I had done but panicked over it. There is no food in there for them. Anyway all is well, all birds are fat and healthy.lol This is the perfect reason for a safety door.
  7. I am not good with genetics Finnie but to me the chick looks Dom pied and the mother looks dom pied, only saying because I have some babies looking the same with the white wings and they are dom pieds. Does the mum have the iris ring like a dom pied or does she have the recessive eye with no iris ring.
  8. You should be able to get it from your vet but you can also get it from Dr Rob Marshall if you are client. It is easy to become a client also and it is very handy because you can get preventive medicine over the phone.

I just bought the camera I was after for ages Gb, canon ixus 105, you can get them between $160. and $220. I just kept looking on the net at harvey norman and **** smiths etc until I they had it at the price I was willing to spend. Mine cost $167.00 a couple of months ago. But I really love it so much. It takes a really good photo and you can get as close as 3cm to the bird. The shutter is fast compared to some compacts. Oh just had a look on **** smith and they are on special for Christmas $147.00. here is the link.. http://dicksmith.com.au/photography/point-shoot-canon you can buy yourself an early Christmas present or put your order in lol

I nearly tried the chili in eggs Gb but just ended up doing the false eggs in the end and it does work but that mum of the sky blue I won the shield with and best in show she smashed the eggs and that is why I only got him, I grabbed his egg out and fostered it. Next year I will grab the lot out as she lays them because they through such crackers I am not going to chance it. Can't wait actually. lol

Nah Flipper I no longer live near a ice skating rink, I use to live in Bendigo and the ice skating place was just around the corner so my younger son loved going. After I fell and broke my arm and another skater almost chopped my fingers off I decided that was it but it was funny though the people that run the place told me to come back when I recovered and they have a wheel chair type thing that other oldies push around until they get the hang of it. lol. but I decided I needed both arms , all my fingers and legs plus tail bone to raise my boys. lol

It really is because they are not a native bird.

I have found that when a bird is not in breeding condition hen or cock they will destroy the nest and sometime not until they are about to hatch. So annoying. But yes he is lovely boy, I had a boy the same I bought from auction and he was a young unused cock but he never filled an egg , very disappointing.
