  1. Yep they can- they dont 'need' the spot to be split, it just makes it easier for us breeders!! Any birds can be split for Recessive pied no matter what the mutation
  2. lots of Ino's!! Some yellow and if the hen is split blue- Albino's also
  3. interesting he hasnt much marking on him. He looks DF!! Very pretty though

Did the 'peanut butter surprise' go down well last night? Be great to see the finished product- I cant even imagine what it will look like!!
  5. my poor widdle eyes were straining but it looks light brown/tan to me- which means girl. But photos are hard to tell

aawww she is gorgeous. Arent babies hilarious to watch playing in the avairy they dont seem to have that "who is watching me make a fool of myself attitude" *Must really put some new toys in avairy**
  7. Well there has been a bit of musical cages with my inside birds- Cartman the really big green bird decided he would have much more fun in the aviary with his younger sisters. Which was fine by me as he was going through a huge amount of seed inside and not very thankful for it. Since then Chook (or Mildred as we used to call them George and Mildred) has become so much more annoying (Laughing out loud) he is in love with my finger nail, and tries to get inbetween me and whatever I happen to be doing at them time!!! We also have a house guest- one of the baby lovebirds is inside for a while and Chooky...well he does like to socialise at the computer table Come play, come play I think 'someone' is leading 'someone else' astray!!!! Get off him........ Got some new birds a while back not got photos of all of them but. Grey spangle Grey Op Grey-green Op Hen- she is an absolute stunner in real life- very happy with this one Cin light green hen and opaline cock Also got a greygrenn Op Spangle hen- missing a picture of her though. Also have 2 pieds in the nest at the moment with 2 greens these pics were from a few days ago- one of the greens is starting to look really good now. Last clutch- the 4 girls from this clutch are right little turds!! Jump on me, annoy me and pull my hair Sorry for all the pics- spose there is alot!!
  8. Well said Kath.

I missed this post- Nice birds Norm. re: the clear eggs- might be a young cock not quite worked it out yet or maybe give their vent/leg feathers a trim
  10. My old budgie used to play with my mums cat no worries- so funny though, and my weiro would ride around on my dog She was a hunting dog but now worries with my pets. Just keep an eye on them for a bit, I would say aahhh or NO whenever they had that funny look in their eye and after a short while there was no problems
  11. Hey Elly I have 4 Rec split birds now with the spot, 3 came from Rec pied breeders that ONLY breed rec pieds and have done for 20+ years so you cant get much more concrete than that?? OR does it need to come from somebody with a PHD in budgie genetics to believe it??I also have a hen with quite a large spot which I thought to be Dom pied BUT I found out her breeder the other day and its more likely she is Rec pied split- which has really buggered up my records!! I remember the first time I said that theory about rec pieds on here and got bagged for it but everyone is believing it now so I dont look like a nitwit anymore heres a picture of 2 splits- the spot isnt showing up well as they are both fluffed!! But you can just see it to understand it
  12. I'm seeing dark plum eyes too A DF spangle male should also have a blue cere, only a DEC or Ino keeps the pink cere for life. I'm going DEC for the spunky little man!!
  13. yep Kaz looks like a dilute- but not knowing how the dilute gene worked properly I just said greywing(works the same hey? different outcome?). Elly his colour you can see on his rump- pale grey like the rest of him, I shall try for another picture for you The other two are just 'mini dads'!! **photos added
  14. no- def not cinnamon, he is pale grey and the markings are pale grey too. Not sure of the splits- dad is a SthAus KK bird dont know parents- mum is also unknown Just thought I'd throw the picture up as it surprised me and we did talk about the pairing earlier.
  15. Had a bit of a surprise when they feathered up. 2 normal greys and this little fella- he is very light coloured and I would say greywing although he is very very light in 'person' Mum is cinnamon violet opaline and dad is Grey
  16. As usual GREAT photos, so so cute those birds
