  1. Very pretty- sky or maybe cobalt Recessive pied.
  2. :(Laughing out loud): :(Laughing out loud): Just seen my little 1 legged boy try to mate this afternoon, kept falling off though
  3. Ive got a couple of 1 legged birds, they just about run the aviary!! One of them I adopted from a friend that was moving and I didnt want to see him at a pet shop, no problems at all he lays on the shelf to scratch the hard-to-reach areas, just gotta make sure the water level in the bowl doesnt get too low as he cant reach down as far. Another was attacked by a bird and broke his leg- he had no movement in it for months then it finally came good as new(slowly!). I reckon they're the most active in the aviary too!!
  4. Nice birds Kaz, good luck with them.
  5. Yep I agree, I like these two- the blue cock and the greygreen hen http://img164.imageshack.us/img164/8795/ingnewcw5.jpg They are really nice birds
  6. haha re: male If you go into My controls, edit profile, then you can change it!!
  7. Budgie birthday game 'pass the parcel'!!! .......when the music stops!!
  8. Where abouts do you live? Are you sure its fertile?- no use doing all this for an infertile egg, were the parents mating? The egg will need to be kept at the right temp and turned a few times a day. Do you really want this egg to hatch as at the moment there is nothing in it and it might be easier just to let it go, in a few days you will begin to see a few veins starting inside- I hold mine up to the sunlight in a certain angle and can usually see whether or not they are okay. An incubator or another hen is needed for this egg to have a good start. Good luck

LOVE IT!!!!! The first picture of Blink looks like he is a baby- must have had a 'youthful' moult!! I thought it was a different bird at first
  10. ah well- too late, all big kids now!! Reckon they'll send them out when they're ready or should I contact them. I'll make sure I send off the 2008 order form in time for Jan. Headin out bush for a week in the morning so I won't be around for a while after tonight!!
  11. Thanks- Kaz- while he was feathering up I was reminded of Mammoth!! I thought the rings were sent in September and I could ring the chicks but I stuffed up and its October they get here so I probably won't be able to ring any this year as it starts to get too hot, I really should put in my order for next year though so they are here in time. I have a lute, a sky rec pied, and 2 greens of some description (still pink, just getting first pins) left in the nest. Might try one or two more pairs before it gets to hot to see if I get anything, or else its next year when it cools down. Had one pair seperated for a month and put her back in the avairy yesterday and straight away her long time partner was straight to her , he has since been relocated to the other aviary as I really want to put her down with another fella who has an interest in her.
  12. This little one is the oldest of the babies I have at the moment and looking not too bad!! He is a Greygreen opaline spangle. Pics arent so good but you can see the fluffy little Git!!
  13. you will have to Pm us then Macka!! Beaut birds guys. GIve us a buzz if you want to get rid of the lutes!!
  14. mmm I like Rooster!! He looks like a dude
  15. Mother has a flecked head and spangle spots so you can pretty much see the cin markings, father has no cinnamon in his history so in reality the baby cant be: just looked like it when it was born, very purply!! I do understand how the gene works thats what confused me when it was born.
  16. How far back would I have to go to find YF in the line? It cant be split and if the parents/grandparents arent then they shouldnt be either
  17. Nope- have had parents of the pied bird for years, saw family of father and no yellow faces. Have had numerous clutches from parents and alot of blue birds and no yellow face. I cant see how many more breedings I would have to do with this pair for it to appear. Have had father over other hens and it not come out. Unless its the mother- but she cant be split, doesnt show it and pretty sure the breeder didnt breed them. Alot of the greens from this pair have blue under the tail and no YF has popped up from these yet. So no YF **forgot to say all the greens feather up with the blue around the vent, then it moults out with the moult- also no blue anywhere else ie under wings.**
  18. heres a couple of babies. Greygreen Op spangle 2 Lutes (from different parents) Together
  19. Have read a few posts over time saying 'but she has a dark brown cere- she must be old enough!!" Took a few pics today- finally got my camera working okay. These hens are 3 months old- just starting to moult out and have had these coloured ceres from 8 weeks And for anyone interested, have noticed a few posts on this too- a light green pied cock, with blue rump- not a YF. Not a real good picture either but you get the gist of it. He is a true green just very 'blue'!! mmmm bored again hey?? Oh well some of you may find it interesting, some of you probably already realised this!! ****oops forgot to flip it!!***
  20. Hey Norm- what if the male isnt cinnamon bred? Thats what got me- hen may be cinnamon she kinda looks it. Have 2 babies in rec pied nest, 2 or 3 in the Lute cock nest and took the 2 in the greygreens nest out and put them in another. 2 or 3 in the lute hen and green cock nests. Ummm I think!!
  21. Thanks SW- its surprising how many people insist they need to feed puppies calcium syrup- without knowing anything about it- that it needs to be equalled with other things and that too much will cause as much harm as not enough. A well thought out diet should supply most of what they need
  22. Vegemite on toast!! (Laughing out loud) Just kidding, maybe some probotic for his guts after the shot, as the antibiotic itself can cause problems with natural bacteria in the stomach. and give you some of those problems. Good luck.
  23. aawww so cute together. She has some strange markings too, but very feminine looking!!
  24. yep that'll do. I like the wire ones as they have a lot more perch space- the bottom one only seems to have the one perch. Reckon they'll be happy enough to breed for you though!!
  25. what about the little clips you squeeze to open you get from the office/stationary shops- they are 100% metal. They work.- I just tend to write on the nestbox door with pencil- quick and easy, can be erased at the end too. Works best with smooth doors- so you may need some gloss (?) paint to paint them with if they arent already laminated
