  1. He had a little nibble- they were mine though!! He didn't mind -he started on my zip, jumper...
  2. Glad its all grown back now- he was making ME feel itchy!!!
  3. I've had him for nearly 6 weeks and tonight he started acting like a real budgie not a stuffed one sitting on my shoulder not moving or pretending to be scared of every little thing.(me mainly!!). He wanted to investigate the keyboard, then my chips, my hands, my clothes..-yep a real budgie!!!! "If I shut my eyes they can't see me!!" "aahh hello up there" "come closer-what ARE you doing with that thing" "ypu are funny looking" "heellllooooo.......anyone in there???" I'm shocked I was starting to think I had a dud!!
  4. Gorgeous babies- Boris does have the best "cranky" face pulling thing happening- she looks comical. Does that little fella have a patch on the back of his head?
  5. Thanks- thought they may have been TCB's but wasn't sure. Yeah we do come to Perth quite frequently that'd be great if you could get me onto a couple of decent ones its hard to find them even in Perth if you don't know the right people!! Keep up with the "newspage"!! its great reading after I finish work at night.
  6. the pie replied to a post in a topic in Aviaries
sneak down to the beach and pinch a couple of buckets of sand at a time Its gritty, full of minerals and can be replaced easily- make sure its clean though
  7. Curry is a VERY handsome fella- what mutation is he/has he got in him(parents?)? Sasha is also very pretty! You do so well remembering all their names and babies!! can't wait to see your new birds-I'm after a couple of nice hens myself but am sick of looking and quality of birds in this town is pretty poor!!
  8. colourful budgies?? Whatever they are they're gonna be a mouthful to say!!!! **sorry Im in a cheeky mood tonight!!**
  9. They are gorgeous birds- you must have a fulltime job just remembering all their names and who belongs to who!!!!
  10. hi all, thanks for replying- the seed tray is towards the middle of the aviary so no chance of spoilt seed or water. I could put the mauvey spangle male in the other aviary with the yellow budgies but he isn't harassing them too much (just extremely friendly!), just enough to get some entertainment!! There is only 4 in each aviary and they are 6ft X 8ft and the other is 6ft X 9ft so plenty of room to get away for some quiet time. Yep ferrets have another big cage now to play in so I can have my aviary back!
  11. I usually go out and sit with the birds and dogs in the morning while I have a cuppa (geez I sound old!!) if its warm enough and have noticed the purple/grey male closing in on the happy couple (dk grey & blue pied) he follows them everwhere and if ever the female is by herself he puts on such a display until he gets noticed and chased away by her partner! I do think he may end up splitting the happy couple up eventually with his good looks and charm, its like watching daytime tv!! The couple have been house hunting for nearly a month (nest boxes but now looks like she has put that on hold til she makes up her mind on the fellas. Also have finally got the ferrets out of the aviary I was using as their cage (don't ask!!) and turned it into paradise for these fellas:
  12. they look like they're having a mini explosion on their backs when they take the photo. (or tryhard peacocks!)
  13. Keep persevering with him, he's beautiful. Like a big gangly puppy it might take him a bit longer to find control of himself. He reminds me of my Grey Fatty!!! Good luck
  14. Decided today was the day to add the new additions to the aviary- Skyblue hen, and three babies-Dkblue opaline, white & blue (pied? rec/double Dom??) and a motley yellow and blue baby that I can't describe as yet(learning though maybe a sort of yellowface) I was after a couple of large hens but came home with that lot!! First picture the hen is on the right and last of all a little fella I picked up today- he's a little snuggle pot!! no name yet though, he'll stay inside with me
  15. Thanks I'm getting the hang of it slowly!!
  16. okay before coming onto this site I didn't really think to much about the finer points of my budgies colours I have a skyblue male that I saved from a garage sale- for the first year I had him any time he flapped his wings all his flights fell out and bled, and also his tail, I had him inside with me but had to restrict his outcage time due to this problem (time and vitamin/mineral supplements seemed to have cured this but I will not breed him ever) he has blue colouring through his head and back feathers instead of white- its not showing up properly on the photos though Also have a pied blue hen that has the blue all over her head too Is this a normal occurence? IMG]http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d98/hairybull/a4f04c02.jpg[/img] (sorry they're pretty scruffy photos of her) Thanks for your help (with my stupid questions!!)
  17. Cheers for that!
  18. as in the white ring around the eye? yes he has "normal" budgie eyes. Is he just a recessive pied?
  19. Hi there I'm new to this forum and I'm slowly getting back into budgies after a few years venturing into other things. I'm trying to record the ones I have and thought I knew what this one was- but after a night reading through articles on colourings I'm confused now!! He is Yellow with partial black bars on head only, and a slight green patch on rump (not visible when just sitting)[/img] Also a young male which I guess is a dominant pied? [/img] If.. the photos work for me
