  1. sick bird = 1/2 glass for breeder Healthy birds = hmmm well I'll celebrate anyway!!
  2. wow- just had a look, you have some real nice birds there.
  3. Leave the information but delete the bottom bit with the details on it if no-one likes it one there. I think the info is great and should be given out at petstores!
  4. Damn I missed it- was reading through thinking about them then.....the answer. Top one is a spitting image of my boys- I would have said about 32-34 days for the top and about 21 for the bottom both definate males. Mine have the black beak and cere for quite sometime too. (also very light barring) picture 28 days picture 33 days
  5. Very cute, how do you go over there with the cold? Do you have to do anything special for the bubs or are they in a warm birdroom? Mum is very pretty, what colour is dad?
  6. (Laughing out loud).... who hasn't had to grab their bird after a chase, its like they know your going out and stay right away!! If my old budgie knew he had to go back in his cage before he was ready..look out, what a performance! ( no way you were going to catch him either and he was the most well trained, people friendly bird I have ever met. Also.. what kinda snakes do you have?
  7. We have all been sitting here, reading your posts, waiting........ its getting tense I hope something happens soon!! (I didn't look- are you in Oz or Usa? wait I'll go back and have a look myself!! Hurry up Isis... anything yet?? ahh New Zealand.... Does the heat affect them over there (not that it gets really hot) but the change would still be different for them.

Have decided I couldn't leave this little snugglepot in the aviary- he is now inside with me. He is a big sleepy head sits while you scratch his head and arches up all fluffy, he makes chooky the other inside bird look so tiny!! After a full half hour of sitting with me getting scratched, he went wild.... well maybe not so wild!!- he likes to sit on my thumb so my fingers are touching his back but he literally 'fell' asleep!! Also had a friend move house a while back and offered me about 30 budgies- I have found homes for most of them, kept a few 'special' cases myself and my first recessive pieds. 5yr old male yellowface grey a one legged hen- she didn't even realise it only had one leg!! Couple of hens- cobalt recessive pied and pale violet cinnamon hen also an albino hen. She had enclosed nest boxes so had to lever the top of the setup she had (5 boxes attached to each other) and inside was 2 cobalt babies-2/3 wks. Parents unknown and none of the birds would go to them while we were there so put them under one of my hens and they are doing real well. Feel really good as the homes I organised were lovely and clean, well setup and will now feed vegies and bits on a regular basis. Yay
  9. are there any articles or photos of how the birds have changed in style, over each generation?? 20's, 40's, 60's, 80's and today? Its interesting to see how breeds of dog have changed over a short time!!

Yep sounds like they are bonded and ready to use the nest box- is it the male doing the kicking? They males kinda pat the female on the wings or back with their foot to see if she is willing to mate
  11. The second clutch is feathering up well- have had a few suprises this clutch with a blue pied appearing. Last clutch I found out the male was split opaline, this time that they're split blue!! One blue opaline dom pied hen Light green opaline Dom pied hen Green normal cock (little fatty!- he is a big boy though!!) and a yellow.....?? has small green rump and slight bit of green on tummy- badly marked pied or double factor? mother does have a small headspot.
  12. I don't think clearflight as there are faint marks on his flights- maybe from the spangle (?) making them pale He's a very spunky looking fella though!!!
  13. my computer is only showing me the last one- I would say blue recessive pied male
  14. Is there a higher rate of male feather dusters than females- is it something that can pop up in either sex or- like cinnamon, opaline etc does it occur more regularly in one?? Its a genetic thing right? just wondering as things like haemophilia (in people) are passed from male to male. He just makes you want to throw him in a chicken plucker!! :bluebudgie: :ausb: :hap:
  15. I getcha- so is she so pale due to the cinnamon or to another factor-dilution- in her makeup, cinnamon would cover up any greywing ( :bluebudgie: ) as an example- hmm so to tell with these birds you would really have to know the bloodlines????
  16. Glad to see she has found a good home, I have enough trouble with people bringing animals to me without working/going to a shelter, it would be heartbreaking to see and my house would be full!! (have promised myself no more kangaroos!!) Glad to see someone active in rehoming animals!!
  17. SO these are the start of the new stud?? Are you going to specialise in a certain mutation ie Dom Pied? Very nice birds. Magnus and Conan are nice- Conan looks to have grey on him?? Also the green Dom Pied boy 'unnamed' as he looks like my boy!! "Captain??"(from Phoebes list) The name Oprah suits her perfectly!- is she Dom Pied, opaline spangle??
  18. when I posted this bird I think we worked out she was diluted due to the cinnamon gene, she is a very pale grey/almost white colour only really shows up in photos. spangle opaline cinnamon grey (cheek spots and faint markings are cinnamon)
  19. Dom pied -Dom Pied DEC- Rec Pied Lacewing- Lutino
  20. This is great... okay here we go (just a couple) Chook violet YF2 age 5 weeks now- 6 months Big Pie 8 weeks now
  21. the mother of the babies seems to have the odd patterning to parts of her wings like the babies- The white hen (albino?) could she be hiding something?-Iam assuming she is an albino. Or is it something simpler than that?
  22. whoo hoo, finally. Shes looking real nice too. So did the lady say how she came to be a fallow?? I can't remeber what her parents were.
  23. I think this is a great idea (for me ) Keep em coming!!
  24. yep I reckon you're lucky you don't live closer to me cos I'd be around there annoying the c.... out of you with my questions!!
  25. the pie replied to the pie's topic in Breeders Discussion
Well here they are- 2 Dominant pieds (both female I think- light green one definate female!!) These were from a lutino hen and a Df Dom pied cock-he's pure yellow with the slightest bit of olive green on the rump (actually the light green one I'm 99% sure is from the other male as I have two pairs in the breeding aviary. ) They will be staying with me.
