Living with budgies is all about sharing! Your time.. Your food.. (the budgie way of lickin it for keeps-is standing on it!) Your drinks (not my Rum though!!) and your fridge..(they have more vegies in it than I do) Another way of making sure he gets the WHOLE head of brocholli-little budgie feet all over it! The only thing he can't help me with is the snake!! - Although I feel like feeding him to it sometimes http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d98/hair...l/July06005.jpg
  3. Well there growing up and by the looks of it no pieds from this mating- big surprise with a nest full of opalines though!! Oldest- big girl she has a huge head and I think will turn into a nice looking bird Babies number 3 & 4 and the normals babes 2 & 5 (lots of blue feathers underneath) http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d98/hair...ies-dogs421.jpg Mum has decided I'm not to bad after all and wanders over and sits on me and looks at me its quite a funny expression on her face!!
  4. Yep I'm with Cheeta, a YF2 violet- I have a male just like her that is starting to bleed in his first moult and has a few green patches on his chest, and a much brighter face than before. (still moulting so we're a bit scruffy)
  5. She looks like a greywing on my screen- no brown more like a grey/off grey?? Which causes a dilution of the blue as well. Might just be my screen showing it up though.
  6. It looks like a recessive pied to me, the green budgie in the photo is a single Factor Dominant pied though
  7. Yay good on you for doing that for the birds, even getting through to one person- you never know she might learn a bit!!!! BUT petshops should have someone on site that knows what they are doing or make sure staff are fully aware of All the animals requirements
  8. okay, just for you I have some really bad ones!!- I have just got home from night shift and the camera went flat so these are all I managed. Kirby you are so right about the fluff(different colour for opaline)......look at them now. :blush (oops) Well I have just had to change the record book to split opaline!!. Guess I have a few girls then hey Will try to get some better/clearer ones later : Oh the first 3 pics are of the same bird- total: 3opaline 2 normal (I think)
  9. Could the dad be split opaline? because he doesn't show any 'opaline' tendencies but if the babies are coming out opaline they have to get it from somewhere and the female can't hide that trait.....right?? Still waiting for pied markings to show up..........
  10. I've just read this post all at once and now I have a headache!! Put them in/ near the bathroom so they can hear the shower!!
  11. Nah mate no opalines- won't be long til I find out their true colours though!!!! Its like opening a xmas present reeaalllyyy slowly to find out what you got!
  12. Due to my roster at work I haven't been able to peek at these guys for a while so it was exciting to open up the nestbox this morning. To be honest I was expecting more prominent markings but they are exremely cute anyway. Oldest The 2nd oldest has got quite dark grey fluff compared to the others The fun factory in full:
  13. I'd be showing them off too! They are stunning looking birds.
  14. Cheers for answering guys- been pretty busy with work for a few days (long hours) The picture does make his tail look scraggly, he does have a feather growing though. Spose he's just another 'special' bird of mine hey.
  15. Very cute babies. Their beaks are soo black!
  16. Yeah he's just over 12 months old, his feathers are all in good nick, none broken or illformed, just the ones covering his rump (between the wings) are a mix of yellow and green not plain green like his chest. I've only had him a few weeks but all my birds eat better than me so time will tell hey? Just wondering if the mix of colour was unusual

Welcome, it sounds like you have some beautiful birds.
  19. Male green spangle I got a couple of weeks ago has a mottled rump- is this normal or just badly marked? I've been looking at it since I got him but only just realised it was different!!
  20. They aren't much to look at yet, starting to get some yellowish colour coming through. Mum is starting to spend some time for herself out of the nest. I don't think she left from days before she had laid her first egg Two oldest Cutey!
  21. Caught her again today having an afternoon siesta- always the same spot too! I woke her up so she wasn't quite flat out when I took the picture....

Nice clean setup you have there, excellent view!. Love the rosellas- they are the next addition to the family!
  23. Birds don't feel the heat- I've heard if you feed them to chooks it reduces/prevents worms (I think!) if this is true I spose it would work the same for other birds.
  24. Very proud! Have waited quite a while and looked everywhere for a suitable hen to put the male to, not nearly as nice as your birds Daz but very happy with them anyway. I hope to get some nice youngsters out of it for me though!
  25. Have posted pics before of the parents somewhere but thought I'd pop some on again. Have just had 5 out of 5 eggs hatch this week, oldest chick is 10 days old, youngest approx 2 days. The dad is a Green Dom pied the female is a normal green-maybe Dom pied(due to a small head spot, her parentage is unknown so haven't totally confirmed it) bubs are going really well the female is a very devoted mother, father is getting dirtier by the day with feeding them all the time!! Parents Two oldest bubs Looking forward to see what markings they will have in the next few weeks
