  1. good luck and look forward to reading about each birds journey
  2. it is funny you say that because that is what happens, people get this baby budgie and it is quiet and cuddly and then all of a sudden they change, budgies in retrosept are not meant to be cuddly they are not a dog or cat, they like head scratch but if you watch 2 budgie they sit close but they don't actually cuddle with their wings and such.

    he is beautiful
  4. I would leave her that is causing this behavior the grabbing, work with teaching her to step up and try different times of the day like mid morning and later afternoon, noon and afternoon along with evening time you are getting dipping into their nappy and getting ready to sleep time.
  5. Oh wow Rose, to me that is divine intervention someone from above or an angel that watches over you in your lives that you may or may not know, I believe in that stuff. I pray all goes well for hubby, biggest hugs.
  6. I believe that budgies are like that in their cage because they feel like they are being invaded in their own "space" that they call a home. Merlin gets like that but when he is feeling good he will jump on the cage and wants me to put my hand in there so he can flirt with it. I also believe that they remember being caught in their cages so they know this is where they may have that unpleasant experience and if I have caught Merlin to examine in for any reason for about a month he is cranky like that until I can regain his trust factor in the cage. Out of the cage they get more pleasure from you, they are not getting caught, you are talking to them more, they are all over your stuff and it is an adventure who wouldn't be pleasant.
  7. congrats on your new addition

    good luck.
  10. I broke my kids of that lol but I am worse then them, they go to bed and I sneak the bad food now
  11. It sounds like Milly has been under a lot of stress. I am an advocate for the animal if I find that all the testing in the world is simply going to cause more stress and pain and there is no chance of a good outcome I opt out for putting the animal through that emotional, stressful and painful time just simply because I want a definite answer. Making her comfortable and happy in her last weeks, months or years is what I believe is best. Though I am not going through vet school either and I may see it different then you and she is your bird. I am not sure if you were asking or just talking out loud so if I opened my mouth wrongly I apologize.

The cost of the vet visit sounds expensive but a normal cost it would have been just about the same here in the U.S. Glad you were able to get her to an avian vet and figure out what was wrong.
  13. how cute, it is amazing how anxious they are to eat, excellent sign of health.

    excellent
  15. Wow, great news.
  16. I have found the best way to photographic Merlin is in the sunlight next to a window and at an angle not directly toward the window or he will come out black. and the window bright and you don't want to put on the back lighting on the camera because that is another type of flash.
  17. She is very beautiful, I agree, don't forget to submit her picture for Budgie of the Month
  18. keep us updated, glad you took her to the vet and have answers
  19. cute, I do the same with our cats , didn't know fish would react too good exercise or work out too for them.
  20. Make sure you quarantine 30 days from your existing bird you may have but just adding. He reminds me of Merlin, he is a Normal Violet Cobalt Cock carrying Recessive Pied gene (that is what the white spot means on the back of the head)
  21. Correct, thank you, I knew that but wasn't thinking.
  22. 100% normals all blues mixed with cobalt and mauves Both are single factor Violets - 25% double factor violet, 50% single factor violets, 25% no violet. 50% yellow face 50% white faces No recessive pied babies unless the Normal is split to recessive pied
  23. He is like my Merlin, I would say he is a visual violet on a cobalt bird which means he carried 1 dark factor & the violet gene. What else he carried is hidden and can't be seen at this point.
  24. very interesting good luck with them
  25. Very nice cage, I have the same exact one .
