excellent pictures, your budgies are wonderful, I could look at them over and over . thank you for sharing
  5. I believe you can reduce this behavior by getting them out of their cages, have you personally thought about getting their wings clipped just in the beginning so you can let them out. You have to think about this in terms of a budgie the wild budgie flies hundreds of miles a day and they can't even fly 1 mile and exercise properly because they are coped up in a cage. Now I am not saying that you are doing anything wrong what I am saying is that the screeching is coming from frustration just like a dog that chews up the house because he is not given an outlet of say walking. I really believe if you gave them an outlet to get out of their cage and explore you would find that the noise would lessen a lot. Too many people rehome because they don't understand the nature of the pet they are getting. Merlin is at his nicest when he has had a good day out of his cage and when he is coped up because we don't have time he is louder and he has a huge cage to fly around in but it is not the same as getting out.
  6. that is so cute

Kaz is right in the FAQ there is an Avian Vet Look-Up that may help you out.
  10. well lets see what others think too , I agree he is a darker grey, but the mauve bird in the photo does match her coloring of the bird. Maybe another photo of the bird in question would be good too.
  11. Here is a mauve budgie here is a grey budgie taken from http://www.budgieplace.com/colors.html as a reference when I see the bird above and these birds I see mauve (maybe my screen is wrong) there a different depths of mauve and the bird's cheek patches should be grey or silvery.
  12. Yes, I was thinking that MB but then I dismissed it if you can see if he has any grey or blue suffision that would help. But loking at that picture he looks more blue then grey.
  13. way too cute, I love the different poses and pictures you captured, thank you for sharing.
  14. the yellow face gene comes in different depths just like the blues you can have a lighter sky blue or a darker sky blue but it is still sky blue because it doesn't have the depth for a cobalt. Just like blond hair on people some is very light and others are a darker blond no different.
  15. I don't know what the best thing to pair him with is but I believe he is a mauve because one of his parents would have to be a grey to have him be a grey.
  16. he is a doll Kaz

  20. awesome MB, my son is the picky eater, my daughter is very good at trying different foods.
  21. You asked if he is a DFS, you can't be sure until he is around 6 months to see if his cere turns blue or stays pinks that will help determine which mutation he is, above is my explanation. It is not considered a breed like in a dog it is considered a mutation on a budgie. Double Factor Spangle is when a bird gets 1 spangle gene from both parents vs the Single Factor where the Spangle marking is visible and they only get 1 gene from 1 of the parents. The dark-eyed clear is actually a combination of recessive pied and clearflight pied. When these two mutations are both present, the budgie is has no markings or color. It is either pure yellow (if it is a yellow-based budgie) or pure white (if it is a white-based budgie). The dark-eyed clear's dark eyes never lighten with age, hence the name.
