First Pair Of Show Birds
It is really hard to tell the sf and df violets, the best way to find out if the parents carry the double or single is to breed them with a non violet it is easier that way so you can see the results in % With this pairing if they are all 100% violets you can really can't assume that 1 of the parents are double factor because they have a 75% chance of passing the violet gene single or double but if you get one that is not carrying it you can assume someone is a single. It is all in the %'s.

Yf2 Or Goldenface?
LOL...can you put him in a small cage and then take a picture of him through the cage bars?

This One I Think I Know..
well you will find that recessive piedsk, inos will have the pink feet but in normal budgies they can have either or, Merlin has pink, I personally think that blue feet are adorable I t really has to do with how much melanen they carry.

Yf2 Or Goldenface?
I think you need to take pictures with the birds standing up next to the window so we can see the whole body , in those pictures it is hard to see because of the towel around the bird. , at least that would be easier for me.

This One I Think I Know..

First Pair Of Show Birds
Sky blue opaline spangle and a single factor violet cobalt Offspring: male offspring will be split to opaline but it will not be visible as they need 2 opaline genes to express the gene, as this is a sex-linked gene and they will get 1 from the mother. all offspring will be normal blues Both parents are single factor violets you will have 25% double factor violets, 50% single factor violets, 25% blues 100% violet blues if 1 of the parents is a double factor violet There are always recessive genes that both parents may carry and you can have surprises in the nest or any sex-linked genes that the dad is carrying that can be carried off to the feamle off spring.

What Sex?
In this picture the bird looks more male. here is my conclusion It is a Double Factor Spangle which means that when he grows up his cere will turn blue and he will develop visible iris rings. OR It is a Dark Eyed Clear in which case if it is a cock the cere will remain pink and the bird will not develop visible iris rings. But for sure it is a Yellow Face Type 2 You will know better as the bird matures around the 6-8 month mark, since you don't know the parents you will have to wait. It is a bit hard to tell the age because there are no bar lines but I will say around 3-4 months.

I'm Going Mad
maybe you should think about changing the location of the cage? Can you get the screaming and such on video and download here so we can hear what it is and we can tell you if it is normal budgie chatter or really simply screaming?

New Budgie Breathing Problems
I was going to say it was nervousness because many new budgies if very fearful if you look at them or try to talk to them can start to pant. BUT an avian vet check up is in order since there are other symptoms with this behavior. Keep us updated and let us know how the appointment goes.

What Sex?
A better picture of the front and back of the bird would help. I do see the suffusion of grey that you are talking about but I see the yellow running through the bird too. Does the bird have red eyes? What is the color of the body of the bird? Right now it does look like a hen to me too.

Why Did You Name Your Budgie?
Pretty is because he was pretty and we never got away from calling him pretty. Merlin I picked because wizards wear dark blue clothes and it reminded me of his coloring.

Budgie Photos
What does the YF2 Spangle recessive pied mean. Yellowface = the yellow face on a blue bird 1 = only restricted to the mask of the bird (face) 2 = the yellow bleeds on to the body and wings and through molting can sometimes make a blue based bird look green or seafoam green Spangle = is the markings on the wings, the black marking are on the tip of the wings like you are tracing them vs being in the middle of the wing and having the white outline like on a normal budgie Recessive = type of mutation of pied it means that it is not a dominant gene and to have a recessive gene show both the parents need to have the gene. Pied - referreds to the splotchness of the marking on the body there are 3 different types of pieds but only one type of recessive Recessive pieds keep their pink cere so if your bird is now 11 months old then it is a boy if it was a female then the cere could have gone brown, light blue like a female cere.
