I am going to take a stab at this and say she probably is not used to being in such small enclosure especially if she came from an aviary style setting. I will let others answer too. Do you have a picture of your breeding set up you can post?

if it is not that he could have some type of conjuctivitis of the eye or maybe there is something in the eye that is irritating it too.

keep us updated, I would look over the link I posted it has good information about nutritional deficiency at least if you treat it like it is and it doesn't fix it you have a healthier chick, you can't loose.

There are more that know about baby budgies with beak deformities by when researching it the most common cause of beak deformities is caused from nutrition deficiencies. I have 1 cage just like that for Merlin he loves it is so big :wine. Wonderful set-up. If I am right the cage comes off the stand that is what I do when I take it outside and then I just hose it down and wash with detergent.

Balance is very important. My avian vet does suggest pellets but I believe in balance too. She is a spangle because the yellow is the color that is tracing instead of the black & the clear tail, the white cheek patches are common in different varieties not just spangles. Apple is a beautiful budgie.
