  1. I am agreeing there with Kaz and the others that said boy because that cere is very pink a female would have a more whitish pink cere if you can post picture of this one's cere in 2 weeks we can help you determine even better but I am saying boy too .
  2. Yellow face is a complicated gene to say the least but if you have 2 yellow faces they are visual so they are carrying 1 yellow face gene in the case of a 2 white faces that are actually yellow faces they yes they would produce all white faces but that would be a difficult one to determine unless you bred each bird to a true white face and see if you get any yellow faces. 2 yellow faces will produce yellow faced babies, YF2 is dominant over Y1.
  3. I agree she is a cutie
  4. Since you have already gone to an avian vet as spoken about and received a diagnosis she/he should have a suggestion on what you can do to stop this or have a collar made up for you. What was the avian vet's suggestion? You have received a lot of great advice here to help you through this. I am sorry she is getting worse.
  5. You will do great, it is a sad reality about the dog and it cuts to the heart for me
  6. If you put 2 YF together you have a 25% double factor yellow face that = visual white face, the rest 75% chance is YF so I don't understand your thoughts?
  7. gotcha, I just wondered because I know most are closed breeding and I didn't realize you colony bred .
  8. beautiful pictures, do you coloney breed?
  9. I see Robin (Phoebe) is on this post so she will answer because I know she had her foster budgie's beak trimmed, that is a line of well you know.

The cere looks more of a brownish pink then a bright pink cere like a male, I am inclined to say hen also but I can see how this one can be a lets give it 2 weeks and post again .
  15. what a wonderful saying, totally hugs to you and your family the grieving in my eyes as just begun. I remember when my dad passed away those days of preparation, wake and funeral where numbing but when things settled down and everyone was gone and went back to normal life is when I realized he was never coming back . HUGS

mine say pretty bird and it is cute when they jumble all their words together cute phrases above for sure....trying to teach Merlin sweetie at the moment since is favorite is pretty baby and birdy all the time
  17. I agree with everyone above and wanted to say welcome. They may have said she was a boy because of the light blue cere but females can have light blue ceres (when they are not in breeding condition) you will find that Mary's cere may change to a dark tan or brown and then go back to light blue again this is all very normal.
  18. Kaz is right it was a freak accident, no ones fault and not a reason to remove branches. More of a reason to check branches for any sharp ends and maybe break them off yourself and round up the edges. I hope the little one is okay, keep us updated.

(Laughing out loud) I know exactly what you mean mine are older 7 and 9 so I can do it when they are in school now because they are very jumpy too and then Merlin watches them.
  22. correct your birds will get fat no matter what you feed them if you don't give them flight time to exercise or if they are clipped outside time where they can climb and jump from different objects that is why it is important to place perches and objects in a cage correctly so it prompts them to move around more in their cage too when they can't get out of the cage time.
  23. yes they tend to be quieter and crankier during a molt this is a stressful time for them always keep an eye on a quiet bird to make sure they are not fluffied up all the time in the corner or on the cage floor, no water poos, nasal discharge etc...are abnormal symptoms of a a molt.
  24. I don't feel he is too young like others have expressed it is wonderful for them to watch a responsible parent because that is who is going to be doing all the work. Another good thing people need to consider before breeding is all the unwanted "pets" and that includes birds out there too. Life is a miracle and is wonderful too see but we find ourselves not wanting to deal with the hunderds and thousands of homeless pets that are put to sleep on a daily basis. We must always consider what is going to happen to the baby that we produce because we are ultimately responsible for their life on where they are going to get a good home. Taking kids to a shelter at the age of 7 is a good way to teach them responsible habits such at taking care of our pets, being responsible when we are adding the pet population and more. We should not only look at the miracle of birth but the results of overpopulation. I am not trying to be a downer but stating the facts of life.
  25. Oh other people have not said it but I did in my first post I also believe he is a clearwing along with the other mutations stated. Clearwing budgies have very light or no markings on head and wings and the body color is brightened. Unless he develops and iris ring and a blue cere then he would be a double factor dominant pied which can be marked like a clearwings. I am saying recessive because of the what the blue is marked on him between the legs and he doesn't have the coloration up by the shoulders like dominant pieds do. Yellow Face 2 Cobalt (or violet hard to tell) Clearwing Recessive Pied and I am going with male too from the looks of the picture.
