  1. The cere on Franklen reminds me of Pretty when I got him it has the white nasal rings very much like a female but the cere was smooth and rounded more like a male. Pretty ended up being a male recessive pied like your Franklin. How old is Franklin now?
  2. Welcome to the forums, we have an excellent FAQ section if you haven't come across that and we will be having April Budgie of the Month post up shortly :hap: so keep on snapping. They are both very sweet looking girls.

beautiful pair, wishing for the best
  4. how wonderful, good on you for doing quarantine this time around, congrats on your newest addition look forward to pics.
  5. I am very excited for you they are both gorgeous birds, I am interested to see how the chicks feather up
  6. If this just started like everyone said I wouldn't wait much longer but get her to the avian vet as soon as possible, if you don't know where your closest avian vet is we do have a look-up in the FAQ section. Whenever a bird starts acting strange is is very likely due to a health condition and should be looked at by an avian vet.
  7. this is very interesting because we just had an itchy eye on here and I have seen it before, we assume it is mites at first but I think the best thing we can do here on the boards is suggest they go to an avian vet because it could be an underlying reason as you just showed.
  8. In our FAQ section we have pictures under Sexing Your Budgies, if and probably so your budgie is young the cere will be pink in both males and females the intensity of the pink can be an indicator of a male along with nasal rings. At this point you are going to have to trust the breeder/pet shop and hope for the best .

I am going to close this post since it has been restarted and the pics are there.
  10. Most budgies bite probably can't penetrate a hard rubber such as Maise has shown, can you post a picture of the toy you are talking about and we can help you further.

Welcome to the forums, there is a wide variety of people here from all over the globe that have so much knowledge to give in different aspects of budgie care so you have come to the right place. Your birds are beautiful.
  12. Co-habitation consists of you being the pack leader and setting the expections. We have 3 cats and because Merlin is in a good sturdy cage there is no risk. My husky is not around Merlin and my other dog is indifferent. They are never around when he is out flying around because he would be a snack. Cats have instincts that are very strong (yes I have seen pics of cats and birds very scary unless the bird is bigger then the cat), dogs are unpredictable they may leave the bird alone while in the cage but when they are fluttering around it does drive up instincts especially if they are of th hunting or working variety.
  13. Can you post a picture of her doing this. Has the behavior just started or has she always done this since you had her and how long have you had her?
  14. you can see the V in her second picture plus opalines always remind me of little bald eagles
  15. I agree with Hurdy, it is Yellow Face Type 2 which means the yellow will bleed into her chest and throughout her body it may strengthen as she molts and in some cases a blue bird can looks almost complete green.
  16. Feathers would you mind adding to the TCB Mutation post under the Mutations, I looked there to see if you had posted your blue series but only saw the green series, that would be wonderful if you can.
  17. I don't have much to comment on other then I enjoy reading your experiences Norm, thank you for taking the time to share and type everything up.

  19. anxiously awaiting

Cool thing is you don't have to completely grasp it if you take the combo of pairs that others say you will most likely get the results you are looking for
  21. Budgies generally go through a molt every 3-4 months and the knocking over of the cage could have been the cause but I am assuming she is probably going to start going through a molt where she will loose old feathers and new ones will grow in. You can see it on the top of their heads it looks like black specks scattered those are pin feathers and when the black covering will fall off and the bird will have a beautiful new feather under it. Do you have any pictures of your bird? or how old your budgie is? Welcome to the forums
  22. Do you have photos you can share , because if the box even if she is settling down now during the raising of the chicks is cruicial so she doesn't abandon them. We can't always speculate why hens or cocks abandon a nest but giving them nearly perfect conditions is important.
  23. hugs, I hope she perks up but if not she has lived a wonderful life.
