what a rainbow of colors they are beautiful
  2. they are gorgeous I can't wait to see the outcomes
  3. If you want to guarantee 100% outcome yes you will need another fallow If you want to guarantee 50% outcome you will need a bird split to fallow Yes the offspring will all carry the fallow gene and can pass it on to the next generation

he probably scared of her I would be if I was in a cage with someone who smashed up toys :fears:
  7. Oh my goodness that is just cute cute cute cute......adorably cute
  8. Oh I am so sorry to hear this , experiencing a loss so quick with Pretty I know how fast it can happen. One minute they are okay, then they seem a little sick and then they are flying over Rainbow Bridge. Big hugs to you he was a very handsome fellow.

When Pretty was a lone budgie he didn't play with anything but again that plastic ball. When Merlin was a lone budgie during quarantine he loved playing with shiny bells but when he found Pretty (Laughing out loud) the ignored them so it shows that they do long for budgie companions. Now, that he is a lone budgie again since Pretty passed away he plays with mainly the plastic balls and his bells. I find he likes toys that make noise vs quiet preening toys.
  10. Oh I love him he is STUNNING!!!!

In my house it wasn't age because Pretty was 1 1/2 when he died and the only thing he finally played with was the plastic balls and then when Merlin he didn't play again he was attentive to Merlin .
  12. I would think it would happen in a more controled enviroment where they know the parents and then the surprising gene comes up with colony breeding you don't know who's daddy is who so it is always a surprise.
  13. Oh my gosh how adorable all three of them are you must picture a photo and submit for April Budgie of the Month .

Welcome to the forums . Pictures would help on determining the gender and if you want you can post a pics of her toenails. Budgie toenails are long anyways so they may look long but really are not. If you know how to cut dog/cat toe nails you could do budgie nails but make sure you have something around to stop the bled if you accidently nick the toenail. It is also a 2 person job one person hold the budgie in a towel wrapped and the other one cuts. With Merlin I just do the edge of the point very little and I don't do it often.
  15. okay here is the back of the cage, sorry for the quality it was bed time for him and he wasn't pleased as you can see (Laughing out loud) the left side of the cage and then it continues along to the next picture where Merlin is sitting - you can see the swing I made too in the first picture.
  16. I will try and get one tonight
  17. I put it in the back of the cage the longwise does that make sense? I could take a picture if you need me too .

Poor Weebel...Pretty was like that too but he liked his (coughs) plastic balls
  19. Elly replied to NickNack's topic in Budgie Behaviour
I noticed that too Nick, Pretty never played with anything and Merlin does play more then Pretty did. I wonder why, I have seen such playful budgies and then mine sit there
  20. No I don't think you have done anything wrong I just worried. Do you feel that his exercise has increased that much to give him this much weight loss? Did you weigh him before and then now to see how much he has lost? I just worry that a drastic weight loss could be from an underlying sickness. BUT if you believe that what you have done is reasonable for the amount of weight loss he has had that is okay. Maybe another avian vet check-up just to ensure everything is okay..that is just me and I don't want to worry you but if I didn't but it out there and something happened that I would feel horrible (make sense).
  21. how old is Louie? What type of perches do you have in his cage? Did your vet do an x-ray? I ask because sometimes there is a tumor internally that can be causing the leg weakness vs arthritis. You can not feel for tumors in their abdomen like you can cats and dogs because their keel bone goes all the way down and protects this area I received that info from our avian vet. I didn't realize that until he told me. Did you go to an avian vet? I ask because regular vets usually do not have the knowledge like avian vets do with birds, I can tell you I would not take my bird to my dog/cat vet they wouldn't have a clue but a vet even if they are not registered but sees birds on a daily basis and I mean like 5-10 birds a week have more knowledge then 1 that will see them just because. I know I ask a lot of questions but I think a 2nd opinion should be seeked by a bird vet, that is just my view though
  22. is he loosing weight because you put him on a diet? I worry about such drastic weight loss.
  23. I knew you already entered remember you PM'd me or YES I would have been on you
