  1. glad the budgie is okay
  2. Good eye there with the ring I didn't even think about looking for that since most don't have it :budgiedance:, glad everything is figured out
  3. Make sure you do a full 30 day quarantine before you introduce to your existing bird. This bird looks like it is going through a molt and looks female after there first couple molts is hard to determine the age of the bird so personally I can tell you it is over 6 months but in years I don't have a clue.
  4. that is cute get the budgie in there and you can submit for March Budgie of the Month...WAY CUTE!
  5. Now Mary's cere is female, I just love her tuft head

  7. AHHHH I think you are right you might just create that Budovie Hybird , cute cute...you should submit a picture for March BOM of the month
  8. Yes I have noticed that also. Merlin is chatting up a storm and sometimes I can even hear him outside with the doors closed but when I come home all is quiet. like they are up to something

I agree with Maise on how old he could possibly be it is only a guess after they have had a couple molts .
  10. Boris is such a cutie
  11. Well for having them a very short time they are doing wonderful some birds don't move off their perches but to eat and drink , keep working with them throughout the day and for the rest of their lives and you will have 2 fanastic companions
  12. very cool they will have so much fun together
  13. excellent that is very valuable if you can do it so they can assist you in suggestion to enhance your breeding program.
  14. Oh yes I remember that post with the ring date and issue...he is most beautiful , I couldn't pass him up either.
  15. Welcome to the message boards. I hope that the article in the FAQ gives you ideas. I wrote it up hoping it would help out others. Pretty my first budgie and pet shop budgie took months to come around and tame. 2 birds are usually harder to tame then 1 because they have each other and they tend to watch each other to see how to react. I would really work on more confident bird first and start training with him and then got to the other one. Trust is what you need to win with these little ones and once you have gained trust you have gained their heart . So don't give up. I don't suggest seperating when taming when they are so close because of the fact it stresses them out more and they call for each other. As they become more confident with you seperation may be okay. As for the eyes being closed, yes don't stare at them that is what a predator does when they are going to pounce and eat them (think about a cat and a bird) so when you talk to them close to the cage bars with millet in your fingers keep your eyes lowered while you talk. If you move away and one or both come back up to the cage bars you have success. By the way how long have you had your duo?

Welcome to the message boards . I would say a picture of the cage set-up and the budgie would be awesome to help you determine the best we can with age, gender and such. Keep an eye on your bird's poops since it was out in the park he/she is probably very stressed out and you want to make sure that it didn't pick up any illness' along the way. In our FAQ section we do have under Budgie Health the Signs of a Sick Budgie.
  17. everything sounds like it is coming around wonderfully, can't wait to see pictures
  18. Elly replied to deb's topic in Budgie Pictures
I certainly hope that you submitted a picture for Budgie of the Month . Looks like they had a great time investigating, did they clean up along the way

I see that you have the new one in quarantine that is awesome , now the count down. I agree with Kaz looks like a hen but not sure because of the shot and yes cobalt recessive pied. The other one is beautiful and I am sure will enjoy his new friend Welcome!!
  20. was that back of your birds head plucked or going through a molt? It looks thin back there. Liv is right a lot of times if the poo is just watery then it is an indication of stress. If the symptoms continue on though I would suggest an avian vet check-up.
  21. how cute is that :hap: wub:
  22. Norm and Liv WOW they are beautiful, you don't find that in our pet shops here at least in my part of the US.
  23. Could you post a picture of your aviary set up with the nesting boxes and then the closed breeding set up too. A lot of time when our breeders see the set-ups they can see that there may be something wrong there too.
  24. I wouldn't use it at all it is not even good for your lungs but if you prefer it vs other types don't spray it around your bird at all as Kaz said. Their airways and the lining in their lungs are very sensitive and they can get sick quickly.
  25. He might have been scared before and not brave enough to bite. Budgies in general are not cuddlers and usually only like to be scratched on the back of their heads. So if you were able to pick him up and cuddle him he probably was scared. I have a great FAQ article about taming a budgie and earning their trust in the FAQ section called Taming Your Budgie, I believe you will get a lot of great suggestions and you can start as if you just got him today. We must remember that our hands, movements, body are huge compared to a tiny budgie and when they strike out they are simply protecting themselves it is not be to be mean or nasty. Keep us updated.
