  1. That is why I was going with recessive Kaz because of the way the blue was structured on her body but excellent question I didn't think of that.
  2. She is a Yellow Face 2 Cobalt (or violet hard to tell) Clearwing Recessive Pied the clearwing is erasing all the marking from her wings and head
  3. I have never heard of it this is what I found about it http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?cl...;articleid=2418 Did he determine the underlying cause because from the article there are many causes of what can cause it and there looks like there can be things that can be done by the pet owner to relieve the behavior. Also have you tried a collar for her to have her stop the plucking? Did the avian vet suggest any course of treatment or diet change to relieve the symptoms? I understand it can't be cured but to help reduce symptoms or behavior? Sorry to ask so many questions, I am just concerned and wanted to see if anything more was elborated by your avian vet. I am so sorry she is doing poorly (hugs)
  4. Dave I had this very discussion with 2 other members because another member was babysitting. Here are the 2 sides. 1. Well I know where this bird came from and it is healthy there so it is okay. 2. Birds no matter where they came from are stressed out when they are moved so putting this stress on them can trigger an underlying dorminant issue OR it may be a carrier of an illness but not have the symptoms and give it to the other birds. I personally agree with #2 I do believe that you need to quarantine no matter what. I wouldn't introduce Merlin to a bird I babysat especially after loosing Pretty at just under 2 years old I would be fearful of any underlying disease. But everyone has their personal views & do what they want.
  5. It can go both ways with talking. It is more common for them to stop talking but I also think it depends on when they started talking and how strong of a talker they are. Pretty stopped when I got Merlin but he had only been talking for like 2 months but Merlin is now talking since Pretty passed.
  6. What where his parents do you know? If he is not a dusk like Norm said I would say he has 2 dark factors which are causing his green to be so dark which again as Norm said is an Olive budgie. Olives have dark blue cheek patches and black tail feathers. What color are his? They look black in the photo. The 3rd budgie on this page is has 2 dark factors: http://www.budgieplace.com/c_darkfactor.html

  9. from the pictures it looks male if you can get a clearer picture of the cere without flash we could be able to tell you better. Cats are okay, I have 3 but don't let him out with the cat I would never trust that at least at my house. I like the name.
  10. We have been talking about it behind the scenes and Kaz had said maybe she could do it if you woulc PM her and figure all the details we would love to have you get something started for sure . If you do it for the FAQ and it is a picture it will need to be uploaded because the FAQ load just like posts on the forum. I added FAQ's so you can send to me when completed it will be reviewed and we will add.

  13. We have been discussing it the issue is to get a picture without copying or asking permission to use the picture in our FAQ section.
  14. did you spread out both wings to see if he has any feathers missing?
  15. OH sweetie, I know what you mean that is how Pretty died last year. It will be a year on March 15th. Sending virtual hugs. Thank you for sharing.
  16. better pictures of the front and back of both birds would be very helpful Hen: looks like a skyblue recessive pied Male: looks like a light green normal (but I can't see the wing patterns) If you mate them you will have all green babies, 100% normals unless the male is split for recessive pied and then you have a 50% change of recessive pied babies.
  17. Chirpy was Teapot sick? What happend if you don't mind. ((hugs))
  18. Will have to think I have such a hard time naming my own pets (Laughing out loud)... Where you thinking a regular "person" name what lines where you thinking on for names?

keep an eye on it in case it gets worse but again it is not arthritis what type of perches do you have in your cage? Also he could have gotten it caught on something or like Norm said another bird could have nipped.
